Georgia DL Christen Miller announces return

Georgia Bulldogs defensive tackle Christen Miller announces his plans for the 2025 season

A pivotal player in the Georgia Bulldogs’ defense has announced his decision to return for another season. Redshirt sophomore defensive lineman Christen Miller revealed on social media that he will be back for the 2025 season.

A product of Cedar Grove High School, Miller has spent three seasons at UGA and has been a significant contributor over the past two years. In 2024, he started 10 games before suffering a shoulder injury against UMass, which sidelined him for the Georgia Tech game and SEC championship game. However, he returned in the Sugar Bowl, where the Bulldogs’ season concluded.

In 2024, Miller recorded 27 total tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks, showcasing significant improvement as a run stopper. During a stretch of the season, Miller and Nazir Stackhouse were the Bulldogs’ only seasoned and healthy interior defensive linemen. Miller rose to the challenge, taking on an expanded role and delivering strong performances.

For the 2025 season, Miller will look to step up into a leader role with many departures happening along the defensive line. Georgia defensive tackle Warren Brinson has already declared for the 2025 NFL draft.

Kirby Smart provides injury updates ahead of Georgia Tech

Kirby Smart discusses the Georgia Bulldogs’ injuries leading up to the Georgia Tech game

Last week, the Georgia Bulldogs made easy work of the UMass Minutemen 59-21, but the win came at a cost. Defensive tackle Christen Miller suffered a dislocated shoulder in the first half .

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart addressed the media on Monday with injury updates on Miller, along with other injured Georgia Bulldogs including running back Trevor Etienne, wide receiver Dillon Bell, running back Branson Robinson, and running back Roderick Robinson II.

Robinson II has been out since the beginning of the season with turf toe.

“Yes, he’s banged up. Didn’t do much yesterday, and don’t know what he’s going to be able to do today. It wasn’t your typical Monday,” said Smart on Christen Miller.

“(Wide receivers) Anthony Evans and Dillon Bell were able to go and do something yesterday and practice. We will see if they are available, I’m hopeful,” said Smart.

“Branson Robinson and Roderick Robinson have both looked good in the last few weeks. They have been running and have reached good speeds. We will ramp them up today a bit, we are excited about them getting back to work,” added Smart.

Georgia’s running back depth is shallow right now. Even though Carson Beck is playing well, getting back Etienne, Branson Robinson, or Roderick Robinson would help Nate Frazier and the fluidity of the Bulldogs’ offense.

Georgia still has two games of the season left. The Bulldogs play Georgia Tech, who played Georgia close last year. Georgia also plays in the SEC championship game against the winner between Texas and Texas A&M. To fend off an upset-minded Georgia Tech team and to win the SEC championship game, the Bulldogs will need as many hands on deck as possible.

Injury update on Georgia football DL Christen Miller

Starting Georgia defensive lineman Christen Miller exited the UMass game with an upper body injury

Georgia Bulldogs defensive lineman Christen Miller left in the first half of Georgia’s 59-21 win over the UMass Minutemen with a right shoulder injury.

Georgia coach Kirby Smart confirmed Miller suffered a dislocated shoulder. Smart noted that Miller’s shoulder was popped back into place.

“Something with his shoulder, I’m not real sure exactly what. I don’t know, I think they put it back in, it dislocated, and they put it back in, but I’m not sure,” said Smart after Georgia’s win.

The 6-foot-4, 305-pound sophomore defensive lineman is a key part of Georgia’s defensive rotation up front. Miller has 21 total tackles and 1 1/2 sacks this season.

Miller will have a short week to try to get ready for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets game on Friday, Nov. 29.

If Miller is unable to play against Georgia Tech, defensive linemen Jordan Hall, Warren Brinson, Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins and Xzavier McLeod to play more snaps.

Georgia’s run defense struggled against UMass. The Bulldogs allowed 226 rushing yards in an unsteady performance.

Georgia nose tackle Christen Miller enters transfer portal

Every USC fan is hoping — fervently — that Eric Henderson can land Christen Miller.

Gerogia’s 6-foot-4, 305-pound nose tackle Christen Miller entered the transfer portal. He has instantly become USC football’s most wanted prospect and a natural target for defensive line coach Eric Henderson.

It is not a secret that USC badly needs defensive tackles — plural, not just one — in the transfer portal. The Trojans need big, thick, nasty run-stuffers who can help USC become a tough and rugged team which is ready for the rigors and challenges of the Big Ten Conference. Miller would be exactly what the doctor ordered if the Trojans can land him.

Everyone at USC knows that Eric Henderson flipped Justus Terry from Georgia to USC. A lot of people who follow USC recruiting are also aware that Miller was a USC target a few years ago. The Trojans have reason to think they can be a player here.

USC has made a lot of vigorous recruiting pushes in the state of Georgia. The Trojans memorably landed Bear Alexander in the spring transfer portal window one year ago. Trojan fans are now hoping that Coach Henny will be able to enter this recruitment, make a strong pitch, and bring Miller to Los Angeles.

Georgia Bulldogs defensive lineman enters transfer portal

One of Georgia’s top interior pass rushers is entering the transfer portal after having a strong spring

We are just over midway through the spring transfer portal window and the Georgia Bulldogs have now seen a fifth player enter the transfer portal. Christen Miller, who was  anticipated to be a key defensive contributor, is a former four-star recruit. Miller plays defensive tackle and played a rotational role a year ago for the Bulldogs. Miller announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal with an announcement on Instagram on Wednesday afternoon.

Miller is originally from Ellenwood, Georgia, and was a top 100 recruit in the class of 2022. He originally chose the Dawgs over Ohio State, Miami, and Oregon. He recorded 14 tackles and one sack a season ago, and gained a larger role as the season went on, giving strong performances against Georgia Tech and Alabama late in the year.

With Miller’s projected departure, the Bulldogs have a hole in the defensive line rotation. Younger players like Jordan Hall and Jamaal Jarrett may be relied on to help fill that void, as will offseason addition Xzavier McLeod. The Dawgs could also pursue another lineman in this portal window to try and add depth in response to Miller’s likely departure.

Oregon a potential destination for Georgia transfer DT Christen Miller

A new DL transfer prospect for the Ducks? It could make sense.

Christen Miller, a sophomore defensive tackle for the Georgia Bulldogs, plans to enter the transfer portal, according to a report from On3Sports. Before committing to Georgia during the 2022 recruiting cycle, Miller took a visit with the Oregon Ducks.

Miller was a Bulldog for two years, but he only has one full season of playing experience. As a freshman, Miller appeared in just four games, utilizing his redshirt option, but as a sophomore, Miller appeared in 13 games for Georgia, tallying 14 tackles, four TFLs, and a sack.

After all of Oregon’s additions this offseason, interior defensive line is the position where a transfer would be most valuable. The Ducks did add Ja’Maree Caldwell — a senior DT — in the winter transfer window, but other than him, there isn’t much experience on Oregon’s D-line.

Earlier this week, Derrick Harmon, a DT from Michigan State who took a visit with the Ducks this winter, entered the portal as well. It’s unlikely, that Oregon would bring in both Harmon and Miller, but either one would be a major add.

Four-star 2022 defensive tackle signs with Georgia over Ohio State

Not unexpected here.

It wasn’t a surprise, but four-star 2022 defensive tackle Christen Miller signed with the Georgia Bulldogs over Ohio State on Wednesday.

There was still some mild hope that Miller would leave his home state to sign with defensive line coach Larry Johnson and OSU, but all the signs were pointing to him leaning very, very heavily towards the Bulldogs as national signing day approached.

Sure enough, the No. 14 defensive lineman and 102nd overall prospect in the 2022 recruiting cycle according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings chose Georgia on a nationally televised announcement earlier Tuesday. With the news going that way, and with the official signings of Omari Abor and Carson Hinzman, OSU should be all set with a 21-member class for 2022.

It looks like another top-five class for Ohio State, one that will be tops in the Big Ten once again, and one that should continue to keep the Buckeyes among the contenders for some really special things down the line.

4-star DL Christen Miller commits to UGA

Dawgs got a big one on Wednesday when 4-star DL Christen Miller committed to UGA

Georgia received some great news on Wednesday’s signing day when 4-star defensive tackle Christen Miller announced his commitment to play for the defending national champions.

Miller, out of Cedar Grove High School in Ellenwood, Georgia, ranks as the nation’s No. 102 overall player and as the No. 14 ranked defensive tackle in the 2022 recruiting class, per 247Sports’ Composite Rankings.

The 6-foot-4, 295-pound Miller chose the Bulldogs over Miami and Ohio State.

Miller has visited UGA multiple times over the past two years, but his biggest trip came at this year’s All-American Bowl in Dallas, where he was accompanied by many other UGA signees.

Key Georgia Bulldogs recruiting target Christen Miller has set his commitment time for noon on Feb. 2, 2022. Miller is ranked as a four-star recruit and is considered the No. 14 defensive lineman in the class of 2022.

Miller, who participated in the Adidas All-American Bowl, will decide between Georgia, Ohio State, Miami, Oregon, and FAMU.

Christen Miller plays high school football for Cedar Grove in Ellenwood, Georgia. Miller is 6-foot-4 and weighs 285 pounds. He projects as a 4-3 defensive tackle or a 3-4 defensive end at the collegiate level.

In addition to football, Miller also plays basketball for Cedar Grove. The four-star prospect could join fellow Cedar Grove teammate Carlton Madden in Georgia’s signing class. Cedar Grove won the 2021 3A state championship in Georgia.

The star defensive tackle has taken recent visits to FAMU, Oregon, and Miami. He is projected to sign with Georgia.

The four-star defensive tackle is a key in-state target for Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs. Miller checks in as the No. 9 ranked player in Georgia.

On tape, Miller frequently beats offensive linemen with his quickness. Miller will continue to add to his frame and is capable of earning immediate playing time wherever he decides to go.

Miller announced his commitment time via Twitter:

Dan Lanning takes aim at pair of Georgia recruits, attempting flip to Oregon

Both 4-star DL Christen Miller and 4-star RB Jordan James were in Eugene for visits this week. Will Lanning be able to flip them to Oregon?

[jwplayer jiMvlrVJ]

One of the more exciting aspects about Dan Lanning’s new spot as the head coach of the Oregon Ducks is the pipeline that he brings with him from the deep south up to Eugene. Lanning is considered one of the best recruiters in the nation, and his place up in the Pacific Northwest might offer a route for some of the most talented players in the nation to consider joining him with the Oregon Ducks.

A perfect example of this happened in the last few days, with reports emerging that both 4-star RB Jordan James and 4-star DL Christen Miller were in Eugene for official visits with the Ducks.

Miller, who is the No. 2 ranked unsigned DL left in the nation, posted on his social media that he was in Oregon taking a look around the Ducks’ campus.

It’s been believed for a couple of weeks that Miller was going to commit to the Bulldogs, but his visit to Oregon could give the Ducks an upper hand, with the unrivaled facilities giving Lanning and his crew a chance to wow the highly-rated recruit.

James is another interesting recruit since he would be a massive flip for the Ducks if they could get it done. As a Georgia commit who decided not to sign in the early period, James’ decision to take a visit to Oregon shows that he may not be completely sold on the Bulldogs, and might be willing to relocate across the country in the Pacific Northwest.

After the early signing period passed and James didn’t sign, he said that he was still “solid on Georgia” and planned to sign with them in February. However, we’ve heard that story before, particularly with 4-star Oregon commit Tetairoa McMillan, who said he was all in on the Ducks after Mario Cristobal left, and then flipped to Arizona soon after.

As the No. 16 RB in the nation, and No. 188 player overall, flipping James would be massive for the Ducks. Heck, even getting him to visit Eugene is a big win already.
