Notre Dame makes top 8 for 2024 Virginia linebacker

The Irish are still looking for a second 2024 ‘backer and have made Cole’s top 8

As [autotag]Notre Dame[/autotag] continues to look for the final pieces to their 2024 recruiting class, another domino has made their decision on narrowing down their list.

Virginia 2024 linebacker [autotag]Chris Cole[/autotag] tweeted out his top eight schools on Sunday night, with the Irish making the cut. The 6-foot, 3-inch and 210 pound linebacker is ranked as the 15th best as his position and 155th overall according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

Cole made a few official visits during the spring, but did not take one to South Bend. He did visit half of his top eight, you should would have to expect that Cole will finish out the fall with visits to the other four, including Notre Dame.

The Irish currently only have one other 2024 linebacker commit, Bodie Kahoun, so adding another one is near the top of the coaching staff’s list of positions to take verbals.

Notre Dame offers 2024 Virginia hybrid athlete

This Virginia athlete could play on either side of the ball

[autotag]Notre Dame[/autotag] head coach [autotag]Marcus Freeman[/autotag] has looked for versatile athletes to fill out his roster. It looks like he may have found another one that would fit perfectly with what the Irish boss is looking for in a recruit.

Virginia athlete [autotag]Chris Cole[/autotag], a 6-foot, 3-inch and 210 pound two-way player was offered a scholarship by the Irish. He’s an intriguing prospect due to his versatility, playing both safety and outside linebacker along with wide receiver. Not only that, Cole is an indoor track hurdler that is nationally ranked.

What’s interesting is that Cole isn’t ranked highly at all with recruiting services, just the 832nd player in the nation according to the 247Sports composite.

When an offer list doesn’t match up with a ranking, just means that a bump is coming soon when there is an update and the Irish will look like they have found a gem before it’s unearthed.

Auburn did not sign a high school linebacker in its 2023 recruiting class and is in the hunt to sign several this cycle. They have already extended over 15 scholarship offers to 2024 linebacker prospects but are still looking for their first commitment.
