Sixers convert Michael Foster Jr. to two-way deal, waive Charlie Brown Jr.

The Philadelphia 76ers will convert Michael Foster Jr. to a two-way deal and waive Charlie Brown Jr. in the process.

The Philadelphia 76ers get set to open up the 2022-23 season on Tuesday against the Boston Celtics on the road. That means they have a few days to get the roster all set before opening night at TD Garden.

The Sixers have been making a flurry of moves recently to set everything up for the Delaware Blue Coats and on early Sunday morning, they made another move in order to look ahead to the future.

The team will convert undrafted rookie Michael Foster Jr. to a two-way contract and they will waive Charlie Brown Jr. in the process. Brown Jr. held one of the team’s two-way contracts while Foster Jr. was on an exhibit 10 deal after spending the 2021-22 season with G League Ignite.

Foster Jr. averaged 14.8 points and 8.8 rebounds with G League Ignite and he obviously showed enough in the summer league and the preseason to earn a two-way spot with Philadelphia.

Player grades: Tyrese Maxey shines as Sixers knock off Nets in preseason

Tyrese Maxey has a big night as the Philadelphia 76ers knocked off the Brooklyn Nets in the preseason opener on Monday.

NEW YORK–The Philadelphia 76ers opened up the preseason action on Monday when they hit the road to take on the Brooklyn Nets. Training camp was over and it was time to hit the hardwood against somebody other than themselves.

The Sixers were down Joel Embiid, James Harden, and PJ Tucker in this one to manage their load while Danuel House Jr. was out due to a stiff neck, but they had Tyrese Maxey who was terrific in his 14 minutes of action. The young man out of Kentucky had 20 points on 6-for-8 shooting and he knocked down all six free throws with two triples as Philadelphia took the game by a score of 127-108.

Paul Reed had 10 points and five rebounds, Furkan Korkmaz had 15 points and four assists, Tobias Harris had nine points in 16 minutes, and Montrezl Harrell had 10 points and five rebounds before fouling out in 12 minutes. Isaiah Joe had nine points and Georges Niang had eight off the bench as well while Julian Champagnie had 15 points.

For Brown Jr., his three goals are as follows:

Every player in Philadelphia 76ers history who has worn No. 16

Here is a list of all 10 players who have worn No. 16 in the history of the Philadelphia 76ers.

It’s summertime in the NBA, so it’s time to learn some history. The Philadelphia 76ers are one of the older franchises in the NBA. Their history dates to the 1949-50 season.

With that longevity, the team has had hundreds of players come through the City of Brotherly Love. Sixers Wire looks at the No. 16, which has been worn by 10 of those players in the history of the franchise.

This running series will go through all of the uniform numbers worn in franchise history. The previous edition of this series was a list compiling the 11 players who have worn the No. 17.

Here is the list of the 10 who have worn No. 16 in Sixers history:

Sixers 2022-23 projected depth chart with PJ Tucker, Danuel House Jr.

Here is the projected depth chart for the 2022-23 Philadelphia 76ers after the additions of PJ Tucker and Danuel House Jr.

The last time the Philadelphia 76ers were seen, they were exiting the Eastern Conference semifinals for the fourth time in five seasons after a loss to the Miami Heat in Game 6 at home.

After the defeat, the Sixers went to work rather quickly in the offseason as they made a trade on draft night to acquire De’Anthony Melton and then they brought in PJ Tucker and Danuel House Jr. in free agency. They also signed Trevelin Queen, but Tucker and House Jr. are expected to make a bigger impact at the moment.

While there still could be some moves on the way, at the moment, the Sixers are a good basketball team on paper. It’s time to go through the projected depth chart and see what the Sixers could look like in the 2022-23 season.

The Philadelphia 76ers took on the Miami Heat in their third game of the Las Vegas Summer League on Wednesday.

The ending was largely riddled with blunders in execution, but the Sixers got 16 points and 4 assists from free agent signee Trevelin Queen. Malik Ellison also recorded a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double for Philadelphia.

Miami made a late push to get back in the game and put some pressure on the Sixers, but it was ultimately too little, too late for the Heat. The Sixers secured their first victory in Vegas with a late break-away dunk from Queen.

Here are some observations from the victory.

Observations from Charlie Brown Jr., Sixers in loss to Nets in Vegas

Here are some observations from Charlie Brown Jr. and the Philadelphia 76ers from their summer league loss over the Brooklyn Nets in Vegas.

The Philadelphia 76ers continued their summer league season on Sunday afternoon when they took on the Brooklyn Nets in Las Vegas. After a fourth-quarter collapse on Saturday, the Sixers had a better effort 24 hours later in Vegas.

The Sixers and the Nets went back-and-forth all afternoon before Brooklyn could pull away and come up with a 91-84 victory. Charlie Brown Jr. had a solid day off the bench with 14 points and four steals as the Sixers made just enough plays in this one.

Cassius Winston led Philadelphia with 16 points, five rebounds, and seven assists, Charles Bassey had 11 points and nine rebounds, and Jaden Springer added nine and three steals. Trevelin Queen added nine and Malik Ellison had eight and five boards. Isaiah Joe left with right shoulder soreness and had three points in 8:08.

The Philadelphia 76ers opened their Las Vegas slate of the 2022 NBA Summer League against the Toronto Raptors on Saturday.

The basketball was not pretty for either team, with both teams going on lopsided runs at different points throughout the affair. Observations from Charles Bassey, Sixers in SLC summer win over Jazz

Here are some observations as the Philadelphia 76ers knocked off the Utah Jazz in the Salt Lake City summer league win on Wednesday.

The Philadelphia 76ers continued their Salt Lake City summer league tour on Wednesday when they took on the Utah Jazz looking to bounce back from a loss on Tuesday. They would have to do so without the services of Paul Reed, Isaiah Joe, and Jaden Springer who all sat out in this one due to reconditioning.

With those players being out, it allowed others to chine and show off some of their game. It also allowed Trevelin Queen to make his summer debut with the Sixers and it allowed Charles Bassey to do more with Reed sitting out. The result was an 86-82 win over the Jazz with Bassey scoring 17 points and nine rebounds.

Charlie Brown Jr. had 12 points and two steals, Queen had 15 and four rebounds, and Cassius Winston added 11 and six assists. Myles Powell had 13 and four steals off the bench while Julian Champagnie pulled down 10 rebounds for Philadelphia in this one.
