Prediction

Clippers 120, Spurs 110

Moneyline (ML)

The Spurs are just too much of a risk even at home to think about a wager. Los Angeles is -250 and that could shift before game time. That being said, it is too hard not to make a selection here.

Our pick is with the CLIPPERS (-250).

New to sports betting? A $10 wager on Los Angeles returns a profit of $4 with an outright win.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

Los Angeles is 10-9 against the spread, but just 2-5 on the road while falling nearly two points per game below the cover line. Those numbers are not all that good and yet, San Antonio is much worse. The Spurs carry a 1-9 ATS at home on the season. It could be 0-10 if it hadn’t been for a fortunate bounce. San Antonio averages eight points below the spread at home. That is the worst in the entire league.

Pick LOS ANGELES (-6.5, +100). The Spurs with that “average loss a game” is above the spread which is almost unheard of by now. The even odds for the Clippers provide a ton of value as Los Angeles just has to win by seven points or more.

Over/Under (O/U)

The projected total is set at 223.5. Both teams can score 110+ points and Los Angeles can top 120+. The projection seems low and the OVER (-129) is worth a slight wager. Just make sure Kawhi Leonard plays for Clippers.

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 8 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Celtics 116, Nets 112

Moneyline (ML)

The Nets did not have enough to stay with the Celtics in the second half in Boston. They will be without Irving for an eighth straight game and it will have a negative impact against the deeper Celtics team.

Our pick is with the CELTICS (-189).

New to sports betting? A $10 wager on Boston returns a profit of $5.29 with an outright win.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

Boston is 10-5-2 against the spread overall and 6-3-1 on the road while covering by an average of 6.2 points per game. Those numbers are impressive and Brooklyn is just 4-4 ATS at home. The Nets fall below the cover line by 1.4 points per game.

Back BOSTON (-3.5, -125). The Nets expect to keep this close throughout but Boston should be able to close it out late. Boston has to win by four or more points for a $10 bet to return $8 in profit.

Over/Under (O/U)

The projected total is set at 214.5. The Nets allow over 114 points per game. Boston average 110.8 PPG along with Brooklyn’s 112.6. The projection seems low and the OVER (-129) is the play.

Watch: Former Longhorn Jarrett Allen with the emphatic block and stare-down

Watch: Former Longhorn Jarrett Allen with the emphatic block and stare-down

Tonight, as the Brooklyn Nets visit the Boston Celtics at TD Garden, former Texas Longhorn Jarrett Allen is making his presence felt on the defensive side of the ball. With the Nets and Celtics tied at 44 with just over 5 minutes to play in the second quarter, Allen rejected a layup attempt and gave the Celtics a quick staredown. Check out the emphatic block below:

In his single season at Texas, Allen played and started in 33 games. He averaged 13.4 points, 8.4 rebounds, 1.5 blocks, and .6 steals while playing 32.2 minutes per game. Allen was drafted by the Brooklyn Nets with the 22nd pick in the first round of the 2017 NBA Draft.

Prediction

Celtics 119, Nets 110

Moneyline (ML)

The Nets have woken up from what feels like a season-long slumber to win four straight games. Boston has struggled a bit but now has PG Kemba Walker back in the lineup. Walker drives the offense and allows players to assume their normal roles. That should be enough as Irving is still out with a shoulder issue for the Nets.

Our pick is with the CELTICS (-333), albeit at a chalky price.

New to sports betting? A $10 wager on Boston returns a profit of only $3 with an outright win.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

Boston is 9-5-2 against the spread overall and 3-2-1 at home while covering by an average of 2.2 points per game. Those numbers do not sound great but Brooklyn is just 4-5 ATS on the road. Also, they fall below the cover line by 1.7 points per game.

Back BOSTON (-8.5, +105). The Nets could keep this close for most of the way but the Celtics will be able to pull away late. This bet returns a $10.50 profit on a $10 wager.

Over/Under (O/U)

The projected total is set at 217.5. The Nets are still the key here. They have improved defensively (particularly during this winning streak) but still allow over 113 points per game. Boston average 110.2 PPG along with Brooklyn’s 112.7 PPG. The projection seems too low and the OVER (+105) is the play.

UT News: November 20, 2019

UT News: November 20, 2019

College basketball is currently in high gear, and both the men’s and women’s teams have been rolling along nicely to start the season. The Lady Vols extended their winning streak to five games with their victory last night over the Stetson Hatters, while the men face the Alabama State Hornets tonight looking to move to 4-0. There are also a couple of former Vols making the news in the professional ranks worth mentioning. But first, a bit about tonight’s basketball match.

Vols basketball host Alabama State

No. 20-ranked Tennessee Volunteers welcome the Alabama State Hornets to Thompson-Boling Arena tonight in a match between an unbeaten and a winless team.

The Vols return home after an impressive performance in Toronto, Ontario, defeating the then-No. 20-ranked Washington Huskies. The Hornets are unlikely to be as big of a challenge, though one can never sleep on their laurels when it comes to NCAA basketball. A win, however, would be Tennessee’s 29th-straight at the friendly confines — a mark that currently leads Division I.

This is only the second meeting between the two schools, with the Vols defeating the Hornets 71-45 in their lone matchup back in 2005. Head coach Rick Barnes is also undefeated against foes from the Southwestern Athletic Conference, currently sporting a 10-0 record. Barnes also faced ASU once prior, leading Providence to victory back in 1991.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET and can be watched on SEC Network+, as well as heard on the Vol Network.

Celtics at Clippers: Key injuries

Celtics: PG Marcus Smart (ankle) is on the injury report, but he is expected to play. SF Gordon Hayward (hand) remains out until late December.

Clippers: SF Kawhi Leonard (knee) is considered questionable, while PG Landry Shamet (ankle) is out indefinitely.

Celtics at Clippers: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 10:30 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Clippers 118, Celtics 111

Moneyline (ML)

As long as Leonard is able to play in this game, I fully expect the Clippers (-238) to win this game. SF Paul George is back and doing the things the team expected him to do when he was added via trade in the offseason. The Celtics (+195) are a great play if Kawhi sits, although the number is likely to change dramatically if he is officially ruled out.

New to sports betting? Every $1 wagered on a Clippers win profits $0.42 if they win outright. (Ex: Bet $10 to win $4.20, $20 to win $8.40)

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

Roll with the CLIPPERS (-6.5, +100), again, as long as Kawhi is officially able to play.

The Celtics (+6.5, -120) are just 1-6 against the spread in the past seven meetings in this series. In addition, the C’s are just 1-5 ATS in the past six games against teams with a winning percentage over .600. L.A. has cashed in six of the past seven overall, and it’s 5-2 ATS in the past seven against clubs with a winning percentage over .600.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 218.5 (-105) once again hinges on Kawhi’s health. The over is 4-0-1 in the past five meetings in this series. The over is 3-0-1 in Boston’s past four against teams with a winning overall mark, and the over is 13-5 for L.A. in the past 18 home games against a team with a winning road record.

Celtics-Warriors odds: Boston eyes 10-game win streak

Previewing Friday’s Boston Celtics at Golden State Warriors sports betting odds, with NBA matchup analysis and picks

The first-place Boston Celtics (9-1) visit the last-place Golden State Warriors (2-10), Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET at Chase Center. We analyze the Celtics-Warriors odds and lines, with NBA betting advice and tips around the matchup.

The Celtics have won nine in a row since losing the season opener. PG Kemba Walker led the team in scoring in the last two wins, most recently dropping 25 points in a 140-133 home win over the Washington Wizards Wednesday.

The Warriors are on a five-game skid after suffering a 120-94 loss at the Los Angeles Lakers Wednesday in which they scored only 12 points in the fourth quarter.

Place a legal sports bet on this NBA action or other games at BetMGM.

Celtics at Warriors: Key injuries

Celtics: SF Gordon Hayward (broken hand) is out, while PF Daniel Theis (finger) and C Robert Williams III (ankle) are game-time decisions.

Warriors: PG Stephen Curry (hand fracture), SG Damion Lee (hand fracture), SG Jacob Evans (groin), PF Kevon Looney (neuropathy), PF Alen Smailagic (ankle) and SG Klay Thompson (knee) are out.

Celtics at Warriors: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 8 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Celtics 119, Warriors 111

Moneyline (ML)

Boston (-358) will likely win, but the price is high – one has to wager $3.58 to profit $1 with a Celtics win.

The Celtics are 4-1 on the road; the Warriors are 1-5 at home.

With a scorer like PG D’Angelo Russell, the Warriors (+275) could pull an upset. Unlikely, but not impossible. Russell has averaged 34 points over the last four games, including a 52-point performance in an overtime loss at the Minnesota Timberwolves Nov. 8.

A big night from Russell, an off-night for the visiting Celtics and the Warriors could win bettors 2.75 to 1, but I’m going PASS.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

Boston is favored at -7.5 (-106). Golden State is +7.5 (-115).

New to sports betting? Bet $10.60 to profit $10 that the Celtics win by eight or more points. Or bet $11.50 to profit $10 that the Warriors keep it within seven points in a loss or win outright.

Boston is 6-2-2 ATS, while Golden State is 4-8.

The line of 7.5 is just about right, so another PASS.

Over/under (O/U)

A slight lean to the OVER 226.5 (-106) – every $1.06 wagered profits $1 if the teams combine for 227 or more points. Boston is 5-5 O/U on the season and has played to three Overs in a row. Golden State is 8-4 O/U on the season, including going Over in five of its past six games.

The STRONGEST PLAY, however, is the 1st-half OVER 109.5 (-115). The Celtics have averaged 64.7 first-half points in their last three games, while the Warriors have allowed 65.3 first-half points in their last three games.

How to Watch the Boston Celtics, NBA Live Stream, Celtics vs ClippersSchedule, TV Channel, Start Time

How to Watch Boston Celtics this season live online.

The Boston Celtics experienced plenty of roster turnover heading into the 2019-20 NBA season, with key players leaving for other teams, but also joining the squad. The question for the Celtics this season will be whether or not head coach Brad Stevens can pull all of those pieces together to create a winner in Boston once again.

Watch the Boston Celtics 2019-20 Season

Tonight: vs. Los Angeles Clippers, Nov. 20, 10:00 p.m. ET

Local TV affiliate for the season: NBC Sports Boston

Streaming option for the season: fuboTV (watch for free)

The key to this season for the Celtics will be Kemba Walker, who was acquired in the offseason following his time with the Charlotte Hornets. Walker is a proven leader on the court and one capable of scoring in a variety of ways. More important than his impact as a player will be his impact from a team chemistry perspective, as he replaces Kyrie Irving at the point this year.

Also interesting will be how the Celtics replace Al Horford. Horford was one of the key rebounders for the Celtics last season, and his ability to spread the floor and shoot as a big was key to the Celtics offensively. The C’s will need to take more of a team focused approach to rebounding now that Horford has left for a division rival in Philadelphia. A big blow to begin the season was Gordon Hayward fracturing his hand just a few games into the season. It’s not yet known how long he’ll be out for, but he’s an important piece to the team.

As a whole, the Celtics have plenty of talent and have as good a chance as any team to win the Eastern Conference. The question now is whether or not they can reach their potential.
