Two Bucs players have updated status before Week 18 game

The Bucs appeared to be fully healthy Friday, but that isn’t quite the case after a quick change to the report Saturday.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have made some last-minute changes to their injury report following its release on the Friday before their Week 18 game against the Carolina Panthers.

The team announced Saturday that it is adding Bucs linebacker K.J. Britt and Bucs outside linebacker and edge rusher Cam Gill to the injury report. While Gill has been deemed questionable with a knee injury, Britt has been downgraded to doubtful with a sudden calf injury.

With Britt’s absence, it seems once again that linebacker Devin White will get the majority of reps at the second LB positon as he has for most of the year. Gill missing will be a bit of a blow to the depth of the line, but it won’t be too big hit given the team has edge rushers that can step up when needed.

More details of LB Cam Gill’s contract emerge

The Bucs got one of their special teamers back for great value.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers brought back one of their key special teamers in free agency, and now the details of his contract have gotten clearer.

Greg Auman of FOX Sports reported on Saturday that Gill’s contract is for the league minimum of $940,000 for a player with two years of playing time. The deal was initially reported as just a one-year deal.

GM Jason Licht and the Bucs have done a good job of securing players in the special teams space, as they’ve also brought back Pat O’Connor and Dee Delaney. The team is still strapped for cap, but the emphasis on bringing back some of the team’s key players may prove to be fruitful as Tampa Bay takes on a shakey NFC South division in 2023.

Bucs re-signing LB Cam Gill

Gill was a special teams contributor in 2020-21 but suffered a Lisfranc injury that kept him out last year.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are bringing back another big special teams contributor.

FOX Sports’ Greg Auman reported on Saturday that the team re-signing [autotag]Cam Gill[/autotag], a notable special-teamer since signing with Tampa Bay as an undrafted free agent in 2020. It’s a one-year deal, so Gill will become an unrestricted free agent in 2024.

Gill didn’t play in 2022 after suffering a Lisfranc injury in a preseason game against the Miami Dolphins. It’s clear the team still sees value in him, though, and he’ll be able to return to his special teams role in 2023 with the recently re-signed Dee Delaney as well. Outside of special teams, Gill had 1.5 sacks playing on defense as a linebacker in 2021.

With Lavonte David re-signed, there remains just one free-agent linebacker from the Bucs — Genard Avery, who played for both the Pittsburgh Steelers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2022.

Bucs place G Aaron Stinnie, OLB Cam Gill on injured reserve

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have placed guard Aaron Stinnie and outside linebacker Cam Gill on injured reserve, ending their 2022 seasons

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be without a key player on each side of the ball for the rest of the 2022 season.

Guard Aaron Stinnie (knee) and outside linebacker Cam Gill (foot) were both placed on injured reserve, the team announced Monday.

Stinnie suffered a torn ACL and MCL during Saturday night’s preseason loss to the Tennessee Titans, while Gill sustained a Lisfranc injury in Tampa Bay’s exhibition opener against the Miami Dolphins.

Stinnie was competing for the Bucs’ starting left guard spot, while Gill was expected to provide depth on the edge of the defensive front.

By placing both players on injured reserve now instead of after final roster cuts prior to Week 1, they will be out for the season, instead of eligible to return at some point during the year.

Bucs OLB Cam Gill undergoes surgery to repair foot injury

Tampa Bay Buccaneers outside linebacker Cam Gill confirms he’s had surgery to repair a foot injury

Tampa Bay Buccaneers outside linebacker Cam Gill confirmed Tuesday that he underwent surgery to repair a foot injury.

Gill suffered the injury in Saturday night’s preseason opener against the Miami Dolphins.

It’s still unclear how long Gill will be out, and it’s a disappointing roadblock on his otherwise impressive development track. Gill had one of Tampa Bay’s three sacks in Saturday night’s game, and had flashed pass-rushing potential over the past two season, as well.

The Bucs are bringing back veteran pass rusher Carl Nassib on a one-year deal to help fill the void left by Gill’s injury.
