Pete Carroll details Seahawks injuries ahead of Vikings Week 3

Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll details the player injuries ahead of the Minnesota Vikings matchup for Week 3.

Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll provided a number of player injury updates on Wednesday to start the Week 3 preparation to face the Minnesota Vikings.

Defensive tackle Bryan Mone (elbow): “His strength is really coming back and from what I heard today they tested him three or four times,” Carroll told reporters. “I don’t know what that means yet, but his strength came way back from where it was. He’s feeling much better but we have to find out if that’s enough to let him play yet. I don’t know that yet. It’s elbow-related, so there’s some tricep in there. It’s in that area.

Offensive tackle Brandon Shell (ankle): “He’s still a little sore, he won’t go today,” Carroll said. “We will see what happens this week, he will go day to day.”

Running back Rashaad Penny (calf): “He’s running and he won’t make it this week, unless it’s a real surprise by the end of the week,” Carroll confirmed. “That’s due to the process that has to make on running and all of that.”

Wide receiver DK Metcalf (knee): “Yeah, he’s going today.”

Pete Carroll updates Seahawks injuries after Week 2 loss to Titans

Coach Pete Carroll updates the Seattle Seahawks’ injury situation after their Week 2 loss to the Tennessee Titans in overtime.

The Seattle Seahawks’ egos might be bruised after dropping their home opener to the Tennessee Titans in overtime on Sunday, but the roster is looking relatively healthy heading into the workweek.

Coach Pete Carroll provided some injury updates during his morning radio hit on 710 ESPN Seattle.

The good news is that rookies cornerback Tre Brown (knee) and wide receiver Dee Eskridge (concussion) should be returning to action sooner than later.

“Tre Brown will come back in another week too to get back in the competition of it too, which will be good,” Carroll said of Brown, who is currently on injured reserve with a knee injury.  As for Eskridge, he has a shot to play this Sunday.

“The reports are really good coming out of the weekend that he feels back to normal,” Carroll said. “He’ll be worked back in and if he can maintain the workload then he’ll be fine to go. He has a really good chance to play.”

Carroll also confirmed right tackle Brandon Shell, who left the Titan’s contest early, does have an ankle sprain.

“We’ll see how he responds,” Carroll cautioned. “The MRIs and stuff were pretty positive for hopes that we’ll be OK.”

Finally, defensive tackle Bryan Mone is wait and see after missing Sunday’s game with an arm injury.

“We’ll have to wait and see on Bryan, it all depends on how he responds,” Carroll said. “He had a pretty good injury to his triceps, so we just need to see how it comes back and responds to the work and the pushing and the heavy-duty stuff he has to do. He would have been a very valuable part of this game and we really missed him this week.”

Carroll is expected to have additional updates during his Monday afternoon press conference.

Seahawks activate RT Brandon Shell back from Reserve/COVID-19 list

The Seattle Seahawks have activated right tackle Brandon Shell from the Reserve/COVID-19 list after his close-contact situation last week.

The Seattle Seahawks have been looking ahead to Saturday’s wild-card game against the Los Angeles Rams with the expectation of having their starting offensive line back playing together in time for the postseason.

Fortunately for Seattle, the Seahawks got back one of their front five on Tuesday when right tackle Brandon Shell was activated from the Reserve/COVID-19 list after having a close-contact situation last week.

“He looks great, he should be full speed and ready,” Carroll said during his press conference. “We love having him back out there.”

Shell has battled an ankle injury over the last month as well and appears to be finally on the mend.

The Seahawks and the Rams are set to kick off Saturday at 1:40 p.m. PT from Lumen Field in Seattle.

Seahawks offensive line should be ‘full strength’ for wild-card round

The Seattle Seahawks offensive line should be ‘full strength’ for the wild-card round on Saturday, with all five starters back in the lineup.

The Seattle Seahawks could see their starting offensive line play together this weekend for the first time since Week 14. Seattle was without both tackle Brandon Shell (ankle/COVID-19 list) and guard Mike Iupati (stinger) in Sunday’s win over the San Francisco 49ers.

Coach Pete Carroll believes both players will be back for Saturday’s matchup against the Rams in the wild-card round.

“We’re going to be at pretty much full strength this weekend,” Carroll said during his Monday morning interview on 710 ESPN Seattle. “Brandon Shell will be back and Mike Iupati will be back and this will be fun to have all those guys back together. But if anyone has to come out, we’re OK . . .

“We’re very fortunate that we’re going to be back on track and full (strength).”

The Seahawks have Monday off before returning to practice on Tuesday to prepare to face Los Angeles in the wild-card round Saturday afternoon at 1:40 p.m. PT at Lumen Field.

Seahawks put Shell, Randall on COVID-19 list, activate Flowers from IR

The Seattle Seahawks have placed Brandon Shell and Damarious Randall on the COVID-19 list and activated Tre Flowers from injured reserve.

The Seattle Seahawks executed a number of roster moves ahead of their regular-season finale against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 17.

First, the Seahawks announced tackle Brandon Shell and safety Damarious Randall have been placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list.

Shell was added to Friday’s injury report after a “close contact” situation but has tested negative for the coronavirus. No details were given regarding Randall’s status at this time.

In addition to Shell and Randall to the COVID-19 list, Seattle has also activated cornerback Tre Flowers from injured reserve back to the 53-man roster after recovering from a hamstring injury.

“He’s ready to go,” Carroll said Friday. “He had a great week of practice and he’s ready to play.”

Further, the Seahawks have elevated three players from the practice squad: running back Alex Collins, wide receiver Penny Hart and guard Alex Boone. Collins and Hart count as COVID-19 roster replacements and Boone as a standard practice squad elevation.

Finally, running back Carlos Hyde has officially been ruled out for Week 17 with an illness.

Seahawks add tackle Brandon Shell to injury report as questionable

The Seattle Seahawks added tackle Brandon Shell to the Week 17 injury report after his close contact with someone positive for COVID-19.

The Seattle Seahawks have added right tackle Brandon Shell to Friday’s injury report as questionable to play against the San Francisco 49ers.

Shell, who has been battling an ankle injury for the last month, was actually placed on the report due to close contact with someone positive for COVID-19. He was removed from Friday’s practice to be safe.

Coach Pete Carroll conveyed what he knew after the walkthrough.

“There was a close-contact situation,” Carroll explained. “He’s tested negative and all of that, but we’re just monitoring it to make sure he’s OK, so he wasn’t out today, we didn’t have him on the field today. It’s a developing situation we’ve got to figure out. He’s tested clear, but somebody that he’s worked with hasn’t, outside of the program, so we just got to make sure he’s OK. We don’t know, I don’t know what to tell you about that other than that.”

Carroll was not certain whether or not Shell would need to be placed on the COVID-19 list as a result of his exposure.

This story is continuing to develop.

Pete Carroll hopes Brandon Shell can be in Seattle long term

Coach Pete Carroll expressed his hope that offensive tackle Brandon Shell can stay with the Seattle Seahawks for the long-term future.

Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll expressed his admiration for offensive tackle Brandon Shell this season in his Wednesday press conference.

Shell, an impending free agent, has been a standout on the Seahawks offensive line this year and Carroll stated that he hopes the fifth-year veteran can stay in the Emerald City for the long-term future.

“He’s been really steady,” Carroll said. “Strong in the run game, in the pass game, assignment sound, accountable. He’s real quiet. He’s really quiet, doesn’t say a word. He’s in on everything, cares about everything. I love that acquisition. I think he’s so steady and he’s going to really – I hope he can be around for a long time with us.”

The Seahawks are projected to have $15,968,752 in cap space for the 2021 season per Overthecap.com and have numerous impending free agents, including Chris Carson, KJ Wright, Jacob Hollister, and Shell. The Seahawks certainly cannot keep all of them, so they will have some big decisions to make this offseason.

Seahawks tackles Brandon Shell, Cedric Ogbuehi could return this week

Seattle Seahawks tackles Brandon Shell and Cedric Ogbuehi, both who have been battling injuries, could return this week against Washington.

The Seattle Seahawks have suffered a number of injuries on the offensive line recently, most notably to the tackle position.

Starting right tackle Brandon Shell, who had sat out Weeks 12 and 13 with a high-ankle sprain, was able to play nearly two quarters of football on Sunday before re-injuring his ankle and exiting the game against the Jets.

As if Shell’s injury wasn’t bad enough, his backup Cedric Ogbuehi had already been ruled out of the matchup himself, suffering from a calf injury.

Coach Pete Carroll believes both offensive linemen have a chance to return to the action this week.

“(Shell) came out of the game, it was sore during the game, he said (it was) no worse than it was last week, so that’s a really positive sign for a chance for him to play,” Carroll said during his Monday interview on 710 ESPN Seattle. “We need Cedric to come back too to help us and get back in the rotation. He should be back, too.”

The Seahawks have Tuesday off but return to the VMAC on Wednesday to prepare to face the Washington Football Team in Week 15.
