ManningCast schedule: What games will Peyton and Eli call in 2023?

Peyton and Eli will call 10 ‘ManningCast’ games in 2023, with the next game scheduled for Week 4.

After a hilarious fake search for a third host this offseason, Peyton Manning and Eli Manning have returned to ESPN2 this fall for a third season of the ManningCast (without a third host).

As they have done for the past two seasons, Peyton and Eli will have special guests join them on the alternate broadcast of Monday Night Football, but they will remain the two hosts of the popular show.

Disney will continue to carry its standard MNF broadcasts on main ESPN with Joe Buck and Troy Aikman serving as the commentators for the primary broadcast. The ten alternate ManningCasts featuring Peyton and Eli will be broadcast on ESPN2 and available to stream on NFL+.

Here is the full ManningCast schedule of games during the 2023 season.

Broncos DB Kareem Jackson fined $19,669 for hit on Commanders TE Logan Thomas

The NFL fined Broncos safety Kareem Jackson $19,669 for his hit that knocked Commanders tight end Logan Thomas out of last week’s game.

Denver Broncos safety Kareem Jackson has been fined $19,669 by the NFL following his head hit on Washington Commanders tight end Logan Thomas in last week’s 35-33 loss. Jackson was penalized and ejected for the hit.

Broncos outside linebacker Nik Bonitto was also fined $7,326 for an unnecessary roughness penalty against Washington.

Delarrin Turner-Yell filled in against the Commanders after Jackson was ejected. Turner-Yell later left the game with cramps, forcing the team to move cornerback Essang Bassey to safety across from Justin Simmons.

Jackson avoided a suspension for the hit on Thomas, but this marks the second week in a row that the safety has been fined. Jackson was also fined $14,819 for his hit on Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers in Week 1.

Meyers and Thomas both suffered concussions from the head hits. Meyers missed Week 2 and Thomas won’t play in Week 3.

Jackson, 35, totaled two tackles before being ejected against Washington. On 90 snaps this season, the veteran defensive back has recorded six tackles, one interception and one pass breakup.

Behind Enemy Lines with the Philadelphia Eagles

We sat down with Eagles Wire to preview Tampa Bay’s Monday night game against the defending NFC champions:

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have started the season 2-0, but they’re set to play one of their toughest opponents yet.

The reigning NFC Champions in the Philadelphia Eagles are coming to Tampa Bay on Monday Night in prime time, and the Bucs are set to put their 2-0 record on the line to end that same record for the Eagles. It’s set to be a tough matchup, but despite Tampa Bay’s strong front seven and improving offense, most experts are picking the Eagles.

We sat down with Eagles Wire editor Glenn Erby to preview the matchup and go Behind Enemy Lines with the Philadelphia Eagles:

Chiefs OT Jawaan Taylor addresses false start miscues

#Chiefs tackle Jawaan Taylor addressed his controversial start to the 2023 season in comments to the media on Thursday.

Kansas City Chiefs tackle Jawaan Taylor has struggled through the first two weeks of the 2023 season. Though his penalties and miscues haven’t yet cost Kansas City a win, the attention he has garnered to this point in the Chiefs’ campaign is troubling.

When speaking with the media on Thursday, Taylor assessed his play and broke down his suboptimal showing in Week 2.

“[There have been] a lot of highs and lows, definitely,” Taylor explained. “Overall, I feel like my performance wasn’t too bad, but the penalties have to [be] cleaned up.”

Taylor was taken out of the game multiple times and gave some insight regarding Andy Reid’s decision to pull him.

“[He] just [gave me] a breather, just took me out for a couple of plays for a breather,” Taylor said. “[Then I] just [got] back in and [finished] the game.”

The 25-year-old has been more focused on fixing the issue during this week of practice with the coaching staff and extrapolated on his preparation for Kansas City’s Week 3 matchup against the Bears.

“Just been working on it this week to clean it up. Definitely know that’s a problem that needs to be fixed,” Taylor continued. “Good thing I have a great group of coaches around me to help me fix it. Just staying poised throughout the game and staying even-keeled, not letting it get the best of me. Definitely working to fix it.”

Despite Taylor’s struggles in week two, the Chiefs were able to find a way to defeat Jacksonville. Taylor acknowledged this point and was impressed with how the team carried itself without executing at a high level.

“Just [shows] our coaching, having a great group of coaches like that,” Taylor said. “They keep us up throughout the week and let us know things happen, but at the end of the day we just [have] to go out there and get a win. Everybody knows that, so I feel like everyone plays with great poise.”

The Chiefs have a favorable matchup against the Chicago Bears, which should be a great opportunity for Kansas City’s offense to get back on track.

NFC South standings after Week 2 of 2023

Despite the offseason detractors, the NFC South is 6-2 and has only lost to itself in the first two weeks of the season.

Doubters beware.

The NFC South was picked to be one of the NFL’s worst divisions in 2023, but things definitely aren’t shaking out that way. The division once again won every game it played or lost to itself, and now there are three teams that stand at 2-0 — the Atlanta Falcons defeated the Green Bay Packers, the New Orleans Saints beat the Carolina Panthers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the Chicago Bears.

Here is what the NFC South looks like as it stands:

Team W L T Win% PF PA Home Away Strk
Atlanta Falcons 2 0 0 1.000 49 34 2-0 0-0 W2
New Orleans Saints 2 0 0 1.000 36 32 1-0 1-0 W2
Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2 0 0 1.000 47 34 1-0 1-0 W2
Carolina Panthers 0 2 0 .000 27 44 0-1 0-1 L2

And here is how each NFC South game went in Week 2, via box score:

Broncos injuries: Justin Simmons did not practice Wednesday

Broncos safety Justin Simmons (hip) was held out of Wednesday’s practice.

Denver Broncos safety Justin Simmons did not practice Wednesday with a hip injury, according to the team’s injury report. Broncos defensive lineman Mike Purcell was also sidelined with an ankle injury.

With Caden Sterns and P.J. Locke on injured reserve, the remaining backup safeties are Delarrin Turner-Yell and rookie JL Skinner, who has been inactive for the team’s first two games of the season.

Turner-Yell was back on the field Wednesday after exiting Sunday’s game with a cramping issue.

Elsewhere on the injury front, outside linebacker Frank Clark (hip) remains sidelined. He might miss another game this weekend after sitting out in Week 2.

Denver’s complete injury report from Wednesday can be seen below.

Player Wed Thur Fri Game Status

Bucs P Jake Camarda wins NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 2

Camarda had three punts inside the 20 yard line on Sunday, the last of which helped set up Tampa Bay’s pick six to seal the game.

Special teams make special teams, as they say.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers got to figure that out firsthand Sunday in their 27-17 win, as punter [autotag]Jake Camarda[/autotag] was a big reason why the team was able to secure the victory. In recognition for his efforts, he was awarded as the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week on Wednesday.

Camarda impressed all game, first delivering a 72-yard punt that went out for a touchback. He then put his remaining three punts inside the 20 yard line the last of which was crucial — that punt backed up the Bears to the edge of the end zone and allowed outside linebacker Shaquil Barrett to score a touchdown when he picked off quarterback Justin Fields.

On top of that, he was the one that recovered Tampa Bay’s first blocked kick in the first quarter, and offensive coordinator Dave Canales made sure to give him his props for that, too:

As good as Camarda is, the Bucs will look to make him sit on the bench as much as possible when they play the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football. For the times the team does need to punt, however, it may be in good hands with the former Georgia Bulldog.

The worst offensive players in Tampa Bay’s win over Chicago, per PFF

Pro Football Focus didn’t think these offensive players had a great showing in Tampa Bay’s 27-17 win over Chicago:

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers vastly improved on offense from Week 1 to Week 2, but not every offensive player was a big contributor.

The Bucs put up over 400 yards of offense in their 27-17 win over the Bears, but there were still some struggles to be had. The team’s red zone offense will have to improve if Tampa Bay plans to be a serious contender in 2023, as the team put up only 20 points on offense for the second game in a row. There’s also the matter of the run game behind running back Rachaad White, as White played well while other running backs failed to produce.

Pro Football Focus graded every Bucs offensive player who played meaningful snaps on Wednesday, and while we took a look at the best-graded players earlier in the week, this list includes the five worst:

Chiefs DL Chris Jones among PFF’s highest graded defenders in Week 2

#Chiefs DL Chris Jones’ inspired performance against the #Jaguars earned him a remarkable PFF grade.

The Kansas City Chiefs fought for a gritty road win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 2. Though there remains plenty of room for the team to improve, the tenacity that Kansas City showed against Jacksonville was emblematic of the Chiefs’ identity.

The return of All-Pro stars Travis Kelce and Chris Jones played a major factor in the team’s success. While Kelce was held to a relatively pedestrian outing on paper, Jones managed to pick up his first sack of the new campaign, and did enough to earn Pro Football Focus’ third-highest grade among defenders in Week 2.

Jones’ inspired performance was a breath of fresh air for Chiefs fans who were growing concerned with the play of Kansas City’s defensive line. It never hurts to get a talent like Jones back on the field, and with more outings like the one he put together against Jacksonville, the Pro Bowl lineman should have no problem earning the incentives that he held out for.

The worst defensive players in Tampa Bay’s win over Chicago, per PFF

Pro Football Focus had these five players as the worst on defense in the Bucs’ victory Sunday:

It was a dominant defensive performance for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to beat the Chicago Bears on Sunday, but that doesn’t mean that every defensive player was dominant.

The team won 27-17 in Raymond James Stadium to fall the Bears and move to 2-0, and while numerous defensive players had an impact, some didn’t have the same impact. Pro Football Focus took to grading every Bucs player who had meaningful snaps on Sunday, and while we looked at the best defensive players already (and there was a lot), we’re now looking at the players who contributed the least.

Here are the five worst defensive players in Tampa Bay’s win over Chicago, according to PFF:
