Former Longhorn Bijan Robinson’s Madden rating revealed

Is his rating too high or too low?

Bijan Robinson will certainly go down as one of the best and most memorable Longhorns of this generation, but unfortunately for Texas fans his time in Austin is up.

The former five-star running back departed Texas following a spectacular season in 2022 that saw him being named an unanimous All-American, while also winning the Doak Walker award. Upon leaving Texas for the NFL, he was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons with the No. 8 overall pick.

Over the past few days, NFL players have learned their ratings for the popular game, Madden. While you would think that professional athletes wouldn’t care about their rating, seeing a player react to their rating which they often think is too low has become one of the best parts of the game throughout the years.

Robinson got a pretty strong rating of 81, which isn’t high enough to have him ranked within the top-10 backs in the game but he did acquire a rating of 86 for breaking tackles. A number that is just two shy of Saints running back Alvin Kamara. However, an interesting comparison is last year’s rookie class who didn’t have a single player with an 80 or above rating to start.

Most Texas fans will be expecting Robinson to thrive in the NFL thanks to his skillset and an offense that is catered to him, so don’t be shocked when his overall ranking ascends.

Barry Sanders commends Texas RB Bijan Robinson ahead of NFL Draft

Barry Sanders wants to see Bijan Robinson as a Detriot Lion.

Running back Bijan Robinson enjoyed a storied college career as a Texas Longhorn. Robinson set numerous records, won a plethora of awards and compiled a long list of highlight plays during his three seasons.

The Longhorn superstar is expected to go in the first round of the upcoming NFL Draft.

When asked about who he modeled his game after during an interview on Good Morning Football, Robinson stated he looks up to Detriot Lions legend Barry Sanders.

Sanders took notice of Robinson’s comments and left him some words of encouragement via Twitter.

“I shouldn’t say where I would love to see him go,” Sanders said, with a winky face emoji. “He is a very talented prospect, and I am always honored when a someone has found inspiration in what I did.  Good luck @Bijan5Robinson, and maybe we will see you in #Detroit.”

It is safe to say Sanders would love to see Robinson in Dertiot blue and gray next season. The Lions hold the No. 6 and No. 18 overall picks in the NFL Draft.

Big 12 Football: Week 2 predictions for each team

How will the Big 12 fare in week two?

The Big 12 as a whole had a solid start to the 2021 college football season, with only one team losing in Week 1.

Believe it or not, Kansas was not the culprit responsible for the conference’s lone loss as they not only picked up their first win in two years, but they stormed the field in exciting fashion.

The lone loss was to an unranked Maryland team, and no it was not Texas. West Virginia, otherwise known as the “Certified Loser Boys” according to Maryland’s Twitter, lost by just six points in a very back and forth game that saw the Mountaineers leading at halftime.

Only four schools in the Big 12 did not have games decided by single digits. Texas blew out No. 23 Louisiana by 20 points, Kansas State chopped down the tree against Stanford beating them by 17, Texas Tech defeated Houston by 17 points, and TCU throttled a school that majority of America does not know how to pronounce anyway, when they beat Duquesne by 42.

The rest of the conference were in some nail-biters, but we will just have to give them the benefit of the doubt and say it was first game jitters, not the fact their Heisman candidates underperformed horrendously.

A few teams are hoping to redeem themselves and have a much better showing in Week 2. I’ll do my best to predict how each Big 12 matchup could end this week.

Longhorns surge into top 10 of PFF’s power rankings after Week 1

PFF has Texas jumping into the top 10.

After blowing the No. 23 Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns out of the water in Week 1, the Longhorns are gaining a lot of respect in the college football world.

While the AP or coaches poll’s have yet to be released, national publications such as Bleacher Report and Pro Football Focus have released their own rankings. The common theme? Texas is trending upwards.

In a very convincing win, the Longhorns overmatched Louisiana winning by 20 points and really looked the part of a team ready to make noise. The quarterback play of redshirt freshman Hudson Card, who completed 14-of-21 passes for 224 yards and accounted for three total touchdowns, was a great start to the young gunslinger’s career.

Texas also got monster performances from running back Bijan Robinson who had over 170 all-purpose yards along with two touchdowns, and wide receiver Jordan Whittington contributed seven catches for 113 yards and one touchdown. It proved to be Whittington’s breakout performance as a Longhorn due to being injury plagued his first two seasons on campus.

The defense played extremely well, as they were getting consistent pressure on Louisiana quarterback Levi Lewis, sacking him four times while only giving up 76 yards rushing. The best part of the Texas’ defensive performance was that they were actually able to bring ball carriers down, as they only missed eight tackle attempts the whole game, which was a season best in 2020.

The performances on both sides of the ball are a major factor as to why many are buying stock in the Texas football program, and it also helped that eight top 25 teams suffered losses to open the season. While the AP Poll viewed Texas as the No. 21 team,  Bleacher Report originally had the Longhorns at No. 17 and moved them one spot to No. 16, but PFF felt much more confident in Texas.

PFF’s rankings saw Texas skyrocket all the way to No. 8 in the country, which would be tied for their best ranking dating back to Week 9 of the 2018 season when the Longhorns came in at No. 6.

The Longhorns cannot buy into any of the hype otherwise they will fall flat on their face, and this week’s road matchup against Arkansas will be a great test to see if they can be consistent.

Texas Longhorns Football: Offensive studs and duds from spring game

A Steve Sarkisian-led Texas team took the field for the first time on Saturday. Here are the offensive studs and duds from the spring game.

Rarely are spring games significant in any way, shape, or form. Saturday was an exception for Texas as a Steve Sarkisian-led Texas team took the field for the first time. Multiple storylines were followed on the offensive side of the ball, mainly from the quarterbacks.

Both Casey Thompson or Hudson Card had solid days but neither particularly stood out. One did not step up as the clear-cut favorite to win the starting role and will go into the summer wanting to improve.

Offensive line and wide receiver play did not help either quarterback’s case to be the starter. Sarkisian will look back on the tape and see plenty of mistakes he needs to fix up.

On the flip side, Bijan Robinson continued to be the running back we all know he can be. His ankle may have been a slight issue but nothing or nobody else will stop him in the future.

Here is the full list of offensive studs and duds from Texas’ spring game:
