Penn State at Ohio State odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Saturday’s Penn State at Ohio State college football matchup, with NCAA football betting odds, picks and best bets

The Penn State Nittany Lions (9-1, 6-1) will take on the undefeated Ohio State Buckeyes (10-0, 7-0) this weekend in one of the biggest games of the season in determining the potential Big Ten champion. The winner will have the inside track at the East Division championship, while the loser could be left on the outside looking in when it comes to the conference title game.

Kickoff is set for Saturday at noon ET at Ohio Stadium.

We analyze the Penn State-Ohio State odds and betting lines, while providing college football betting tips and advice on this matchup.

Penn State at Ohio State: Three things you need to know

1. Ohio State’s offense gets a lot of credit, but the defense has been phenomenal this season. The Buckeyes have allowed more than 14 points only twice this season — 21 points in the season-opening 45-21 win over Florida Atlantic, and last week’s 56-21 win over Rutgers.

2. Ohio State DE Chase Young is expected to play Saturday following a suspension handed down by the NCAA. He has 13.5 sacks in eight games and is among the favorites to go No. 1 overall in April’s draft.

3. Ohio State has won eight of its last 10 games against Penn State, averaging 33 points per game to the Nittany Lions’ 20. Penn State’s last win was in 2016, a 24-21 victory.

Prediction

Ohio State 35, Penn State 24

Moneyline (ML)

Winners of 10 straight and eight of their last 10 against Penn State, the Buckeyes are most likely going to win this game. Ohio State has won 18 in a row at home, too, further bolstering their claim as the favorite in this one.

But as heavily favored as Ohio State is in this one, it’s not worth putting anything on the moneyline. The line for the Buckeyes sits at -1000, meaning you would only profit one-tenth of what you bet.

New to sports betting? A $10 wager on Ohio State to win returns a profit of $1.

Against the Spread (ATS)

The Buckeyes are 18.5-point favorites over the Nittany Lions, which is the largest spread between these two teams since Ohio State was a 20-point favorite in 2010. That’s a lot of points to give up in a rivalry game, even with Ohio State being 8-1 ATS in its last nine games this season.

Penn State has covered the spread in four of its last five games against the Buckeyes. Take PENN STATE (-110) to cover once again on Saturday, given the huge margin.

Over/Under (O/U)

The O/U is 57.5 points (-110 on both sides), a relatively reasonable number considering the Buckeyes average 51.5 points per game. The total has gone over in three of the last four games for both teams, and it will again on Saturday.

Bet the OVER (-110) in this one. The over is 4-0 in the Buckeyes’ last four games in November, and 13-5 in Penn State’s last 18 November games, too.

Michigan at Indiana odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Saturday’s Michigan at Indiana college football matchup, with college football betting odds, picks and best bets

The Michigan Wolverines (8-2, 5-2 Big Ten East) and Indiana Hoosiers (7-3, 4-3 East) battle at “The Rock” in Bloomington, Ind., in a key divisional battle Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET.

We analyze the Michigan-Indiana odds and betting lines, while providing college football betting tips and advice on this matchup.

Michigan at Indiana: Three things you need to know

1. Michigan has covered four in a row, but is 3-8 against the spread in its past 11 games on the road and 0-3-1 ATS in its past four meetings with Indiana.

2. Wolverines freshman RB Zach Charbonnet has rolled up 589 rushing yards and 11 total touchdowns.

3. Hoosiers RB Stevie Scott III has posted 791 rushing yards with 10 total scores, while WR Whop Philyor is good for a team-high 863 receiving yards.

Michigan at Indiana: Odds, betting lines and picks

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Thursday at 2 p.m. ET.

Prediction

Michigan 40, Indiana 24

Moneyline (ML)

Michigan (-345) is a moderate favorite on the road, and the Wolverines are not going to be caught looking ahead to their titanic battle next weekend with Ohio State. However, they’re too expensive on the road against an underrated Indiana (+265). The Hoosiers would have been a much more tempting play had QB Michael Penix Jr. not gone down with an injury.

New to sports betting? A $10 wager on Michigan to win would return a profit of $2.90.

Against the Spread (ATS)

MICHIGAN (-8.5, -115) will come home from Bloomington with a hard-fought double-digit victory. Indiana (+8.5, -106) will keep it close — and might even be tied or leading at halftime — but the deeper Wolverines will pull away in the second half.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER (53.5, -110) is 5-1 in Michigan’s past six on the road, and 6-2 in the Wolverine’s past eight inside the conference. The over is 5-0 in Indiana’s past five at home against teams with a winning road record, and 10-4 in the Hoosiers’ past 14 inside the Big Ten, too.

Purdue at Wisconsin odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Saturday’s Purdue Boilermakers at Wisconsin Badgers betting odds and lines, with college football matchup analysis and picks.

The Purdue Boilermarkers (4-6, 3-4 Big Ten West) and Wisconsin Badgers (8-2, 5-2 West) square off at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wisc. at 4:00 p.m. ET Saturday. We analyze the Purdue-Wisconsin odds and betting lines, while providing college football betting tips and advice on this matchup.

Purdue at Wisconsin: Three things you need to know

1. Purdue limps into this one needing to win their final two regular-season games to attain bowl eligibility. Its passing game has been strong with 298.5 yards per game to rank 17th in the nation, but it’s 128th in rushing offense at just 77.1 yards per game.

2. Wisconsin RB Jonathan Taylor leads the Big Ten with 1,463 rushing yards and a total of 21 touchdowns.

3. The Badgers rank fourth in total yards allowed (259.7), third in the nation in passing yards allowed (154.3) and sixth in points allowed (13.4 PPG).

Purdue at Wisconsin: Odds, betting lines and picks

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Thursday at 1:30 p.m. ET.

Prediction

Wisconsin 45, Purdue 17

Moneyline (ML)

You can’t bet Wisconsin (-2500) on the moneyline, as the investment is nowhere near the risk, and Purdue (+1030) doesn’t have a snowball’s chance in … well, you know.

New to sports betting? A $10 wager on Wisconsin to win outright would return a profit of $0.40.

Against the Spread (ATS)

WISCONSIN (-24.5, -106) is laying the points and will run roughshod over the leaky defense of Purdue (+24.5, -115). While Purdue has been able to stay in some games with a respectable pass offense, the Boilersmakers haven’t faced a stingy defense like Wisconsin.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 47.5 (-115) is a slam-dunk play. In fact, the Badgers could take care of the Over by themselves without much trouble. The Under is super low because of Wisconsin’s sturdy defense, but the rush attack should roll up huge numbers. If this game isn’t in the high 50’s it would be a surprise.

Illinois-Iowa odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Saturday’s Illinois at Iowas college football matchup, with college football betting odds, picks and best bets

The Illinois Fighting Illini (6-4, 4-3 Big Ten West) and Iowa Hawkeyes (7-3, 4-3 West) lock horns at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City at noon ET on Saturday.

We analyze the Illinois-Iowa odds and betting lines, while providing college football betting tips and advice on this matchup.

Illinois at Iowa: Three things you need to know

1. Illinois has won four in a row, moving to 6-4 to secure bowl eligibility for the first time since 2014 when they appeared in the Heart of Dallas Bowl.

2. The Illini have won six games despite the fact they rank 112th in the FBS in total yards (333.7) and 108th in passing yards (183.4).

3. Iowa QB Nate Stanley has passed for 2,331 yards, 14 passing touchdowns and five interceptions with just one rushing score.

Illinois at Iowa: Odds, betting lines and picks

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Thursday at 1:15 p.m. ET.

Prediction

Iowa 21, Illinois 18

Moneyline (ML)

Iowa (-834) is favored by more than two touchdowns, and the Hawkeyes should be able to get it done at home. However, the Illini have surprised and defied the odds, winning in this spot before. I expect the Hawkeyes to win, but it will be a one-possession game.

New to sports betting? A $10 wager on Iowa to win would return a profit of $1.20.

Against the Spread (ATS)

ILLINOIS (+14.5, -106) continues to get no respect from Vegas. Despite their winning ways lately, the Illini have been a double-digit underdog in six of their past seven outings, winning three games outright while going 5-1 ATS. Illinois is 5-0 ATS in the past five games overall, too, so why bet against the Illini now?

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER (46.5, -110) is the dominant trend for both sides lately. The under is 4-1 in the past five on the road for Illinois, while going 4-0-1 in Iowa’s past five at Kinnick. The under is also 6-1 in Iowa’s past seven league games and 5-1 in the past six against teams with a winning overall mark.

Big Ten and big game NCAA football 2019 expert picks and predictions for week 13

Our expert contributors pick all the Big Ten and biggest college football games against the spread and straight up for week 13.

The college football calendar is turning ever so quickly, and late conference games are now going to determine everything in the Big Ten and around the country. We now have true contenders, those positioning for bowl games, and those teams looking to play spoiler.

As normal, we’re predicting every Big Ten game for the week straight-up and against the spread, but since the slate is dominated by conference play towards the end of the season here, we’ll do the same for the six games deemed to be the biggest nationally each week. We’re the judge and jury on that one. It’s called our Pick Six.

A a reminder, if there’s an *next to the pick, that means the team will win, but not cover. Also, we get our odds from BetMGM.

INSTRUCTIONS: Make your pick against the spread. For example …
– If you think Ohio State will win -3.5 over Michigan: OSU
– If you think Ohio State will win outright: OSU
– If you think Ohio State will win, but NOT cover: OSU*
– If there’s a tie, George Washington settles it via the ‘ole quarter coin-flip.

Here we go for a big week thirteen, but first, the standings that will be updated each week after all the games. Onward we go. Just keep picking, just keep picking …

First up … Big Ten early games

Week 13 Big Ten power rankings, Michigan doesn’t move after big win

Michigan football got a big win over Michigan State last week, how does that game affect the latest Big Ten Power Rankings this week?

[jwplayer EZymdmas-XNcErKyb]

Michigan got a big win over Michigan State last week, winning 44-10 as it was the biggest Big Ten game last week despite the records of both teams. It wasn’t the only huge game in the conference though, as Iowa was able to ruin Minnesota’s undefeated season, and possibly ruin their College Football Playoff chances, along with leaving them in doubt of going to Indianapolis in a few weeks.

We saw some shift among the bottom seven teams in my latest power rankings for the Big Ten, check them out below.

1. OHIO STATE 10-0 (7-0)

Ohio State was supposed to blow out Rutgers this week and while they did win 56-21, the score was closer than many predicted. Quarterback Justin Fields had a great game, going 15/19 for 305 yards and four touchdowns as he led the offense as the passing game was the bread and butter for the offense.

The defense allowed Rutgers to put up 231 yards of offense on them and find the end zone three times. They were given some fits from the Rutgers rushing attack that got 110 yards and two touchdowns on 40 carries. Ohio State takes on Penn State this week as if they win they are going to the Big Ten Championship game.

2. MINNESOTA 9-1 (6-1)

Minnesota doesn’t fall despite losing their first game of the season to Iowa 23-19. Quarterback Tanner Morgan went 25/36 for 368 yards and a touchdown as he led the offense in their efforts to win the game.

The defense had issues with trying to stop Iowa’s passing game, letting their quarterback Nate Stanley go 14/23 for 173 yards and two touchdowns. Their defense held Iowa to 290 yards while their offense put up over 400 yards, but they still couldn’t get the win. They take on Northwestern this week as they try and keep themselves in the driver seat in the Big Ten West.

3. PENN STATE 9-1 (6-1)

Penn State had a tough test this week in Indiana, winning 34-27. Penn State’s ground game was the deciding factor as they scored three times on 45 carries for 192 yards. Running back Journey Brown had 21 carries for 100 yards and a touchdown.

The defense was having issues with Indiana quarterback Peyton Ramsey, letting him go 31/41 for 371 yards and a touchdown, along with 12 carries for 31 yards and two touchdowns. Penn State was able to hold on though and this week’s game defines their season. If Penn State can win against Ohio State, they just need to win their final game and they go to Indianapolis.

4. WISCONSIN 8-2 (5-2)

Wisconsin was struggling at first but ended up pulling away against Nebraska, winning 37-21. Running back Jonathan Taylor had another good game, getting 204 yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries, but he did fumble once.

The Badgers defense allowed almost 500 yards of offense as they were getting gashed by the Nebraska offense. Nebraska ran for 273 yards on 37 carries and they scored twice. Wisconsin takes on Purdue this week as they try and keep their Big Ten Championship hopes alive.

5. MICHIGAN 8-2 (5-2)

Michigan got a huge rivalry win last week as they dominated Michigan State 44-10. Quarterback Shea Patterson had his best game at Michigan ever, going 24/33 for 384 yards with four passing touchdowns. Patterson threw for over 300 yards for the first time at Michigan and the offense finally looked like a well-oiled machine.

The defense was able to hold MSU in check, holding them to just 54 rushing yards on 30 carries. Michigan forced two turnovers and blocked a punt as it was just a dominant game by the defense. Michigan takes on a feisty Indiana team this week as they will have to be on the lookout for a possible upset.

6. IOWA 7-3 (4-3)

Iowa jumps up a spot after upsetting Minnesota 23-19. Iowa was able to run somewhat on the Golden Gophers defense, getting 117 yards and a touchdown on 31 carries.

Iowa’s defense struggled to stop the passing attack from Minnesota, but when it came to stopping the run they did that with ease. They held Minnesota to just 63 yards and a touchdown on 30 carries. Iowa takes on Illinois this week in what could be a solid matchup.

7. INDIANA 7-3 (4-3)

Indiana falls down a spot after coming up short on beating Penn State, losing 34-27. While Ramsey had himself a good game, the running game couldn’t get much going without him. Besides Ramsey’s carries, the running attack for Indiana only got 60 yards on 19 carries, never finding the end zone.

The defense did all they could to stop Penn State’s quarterback Sean Clifford, having him go 11/23 for 179 yards and a touchdown, but let him rush for two touchdowns and 55 yards on 10 carries along with a fumble. Indiana takes on Michigan this week as they look to get a big win for the first time this season.

8. ILLINOIS 6-4 (4-3)

Illinois was on a bye week last week. This week they take on Iowa as they look to improve their bowl stock.

9. PURDUE 4-6 (3-4)

Purdue was on a bye week last week. This week they take on Wisconsin as they look to keep their bowl hopes alive as one more loss knocks them out of the postseason antics.

10. NEBRASKA 4-6 (2-5)

Nebraska gave Wisconsin a scare in the first half, only down 27-14 as quarterback Adrian Martinez had himself a game, going 13/23 for 220 yards with a touchdown and an interception, but he also had 89 rushing yards and a touchdown on 16 carries.

The defense couldn’t stop the running game from Wisconsin but also had some troubles with their quarterback Jack Coan, who went 13/21 for 162 yards and a touchdown. Nebraska takes on Maryland this week as they try and keep their bowl hopes alive.

11. MICHIGAN STATE 4-6 (2-5)

Michigan State falls down a spot after getting embarrassed by the Wolverines, losing 44-10. Quarterback Brian Lewerke had a better game than last season, but he still struggled as he went 17/30 for 166 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions.

While the MSU defense was getting torched by Patterson, they held Michigan’s ground game in check, holding them to 83 yards and a touchdown on 34 carries. MSU takes on Rutgers this week as they look to try and keep their sights on a bowl game after this season.

12. MARYLAND 3-7 (1-6)

Maryland had a bye week last week. This week they take on Nebraska as they try and ruin the Cornhusker’s bowl chances as Maryland is already eliminated from bowl play.

13. NORTHWESTERN 2-8 (0-7)

Northwestern moves up after getting their second win of the season as they beat UMASS 45-6. Northwestern won this game on the ground as nine different people ran the ball for a combined 52 carries for 334 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Aidan Smith only went 7/13 for 76 yards and threw two interceptions.

The defense did well in holding UMASS to 83 yards on 31 carries on the ground. They had issues in the passing defense, allowing both UMASS quarterbacks to combine for 227 yards on 25 passes, but they did force an interception. Northwestern takes on Minnesota this week as they could try and ruin their underdog season.

14. RUTGERS 2-8 (0-7)

Rutgers falls into the last slot of the rankings after they lost 56-21 to Ohio State. The offense put up a good fight as quarterback Johnny Langan went 12/26 for 121 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions. The ground game scored twice with 110 yards on 40 carries.

The defense struggled to restrict the passing attack from Ohio State, but they did better than expected in holding the ground game to 217 yards and two touchdowns on 44 carries. Rutgers plays Michigan State this week as they try and knock MSU out of bowl eligibility.

Ohio State vs. Penn State 2019 football Preview And Prediction

Ohio State is all set to host a big one against a top ten Penn State squad on Saturday and we’ve got your preview and prediction.

Network: FOX
Venue: Ohio Stadium – Capacity: 104,944
All-Time Series: Ohio State leads 19-14
Last Meeting: Ohio State defeated Penn State 27-26 in 2018

All the games matter, it’s what makes college football so special, but some games matter just a little more. For Ohio State, it’s been business as usual for the first ten games of the season, but now the real fun begins.

Penn State comes to town on Saturday for another highly touted matchup which will basically decide the Big Ten East champion. With a win, the Buckeyes clinch the division crown. Should the Nittany Lions pull the upset,  they’d still need to take care of Rutgers in the season finale which wouldn’t be much of a problem.

Penn State has become somewhat of a secondary rivalry to TTUN and has provided much more drama in the past few seasons than the Maize and Blue. In 2016, it was PSU pulling the upset with a blocked field goal in the final moments of the game. The 2017 and 2018 editions saw two of the most epic comebacks in Buckeye history.

The stakes are high once again this year. So much so, ESPN’s College Game Day will be in town, along with FOX’s Big Noon Kick crew and BTN’s Tailgate pregame show. You know something special is in the air when all three converge on the same scene.

Will the Buckeye’s finally be tested or steamroll another opponent on their way to the College Football Playoff? Let’s take a closer look.

Next … The game plan

After a big road victory over the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Wisconsin moved up to No. 14 in the latest Amway Coaches’ Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Even more importantly, the Badgers (8-2) took care of business, and got some help from the Iowa Hawkeyes, who beat the Minnesota Gophers, dropping their first game of the season. Up next, Wisconsin is set to host the Purdue Boilermakers at Camp Randall, where they are expected to cruise to a victory.

Minnesota (9-1, 6-1 Big Ten), who had arguably the biggest day in the country on last week, fell four spots to No. 11 after losing to the aforementioned Hawkeyes. The loss opened the door for the Badgers to win the Big Ten West, setting up a potentially massive game in Minnesota the final week of the season. The Badgers travel to play the Golden Gophers Nov. 30 in their final game of the regular season, potentially with some major implications in the Big Ten West race.

Wisconsin is one of an impressive six Big Ten teams in the Amway Coaches’ poll. The Big Ten conference has proven again to be one of the toughest football conferences in the country, with five teams in the top 15 alone. Indiana fell out of the poll this week after losing to Penn State.

Ohio State stays at No. 2 in latest Amway Coaches Poll

The Ohio State Buckeyes held on to their No. 2 spot behind the LSU Tigers in the latest Amway Coaches Poll.

[jwplayer 2KXMSFL4-er0jUifI]

The Ohio State Buckeyes held on to their No. 2 spot behind the LSU Tigers in the latest Amway Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

The Buckeyes did pick up an extra first-place vote, receiving six after only earning five last week. The change was likely due more to LSU’s defensive struggles against Ole Miss than for anything the Buckeyes did in their blowout win over Rutgers. Or it could just be that one voter missed last week, and he would have picked Ohio State at No. 1 then too.

There was a change in the Top 5 this week, as Georgia jumped Alabama. Whether this was due to Georgia’s win over Auburn, Tua Tagovailoa’s injury, or some combination of the two, the Bulldogs have passed the Tide and will likely hold that position as long as Georgia doesn’t lose another game.

Minnesota and Baylor, who each suffered their first losses of the season this week, fell out from the Top 10–from No. 7 to No. 11 and No. 10 to No. 13, respectively.

The Big Ten and SEC led the poll with six ranked teams each. Three teams each were ranked from the AAC and Big 12, while the Pac 12 and Mountain West each put two teams in the poll. The ACC and Sun Belt each had one ranked team, along with Independent Notre Dame.

Navy, Texas, and Indiana all fell out of the rankings, while Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, and San Diego State moved in to replace them.
