We’re in Week 12 in College Football and we have a good enough schedule to handicap this week, despite the postponements and cancellations. At press time, we do know that these marquee games are still on including No. 9 Indiana at No. 3 Ohio State, No. 10 Wisconsin at No. 19 Northwestern and No. 14 Oklahoma State at No. 18 Oklahoma.

*Indiana gets to prove itself against Ohio State, who did not play last week due to COVID-19 issues on Maryland. The Hoosiers have been the surprise team int he Big 10 thanks to QB Michael Pennix Jr., who is 9-1 in his last 10 starts. Ohio State is led by Justin Fields, who has 11 touchdowns and 11 incompletions without an interceptions. The Buckeyes are the very heavy favorite, but that’s a lot of points to an Indiana team that is trying to make a statement. Take the dog. 

*Wisconsin takes on Northwestern in a battle of undefeated Big Ten teams. The Badgers crushed Michigan last week 49-11 and it wasn’t even that close. What they did after three weeks off due to COVID-19 issues is pretty remarkable. This will be their first big test against a very tough Northwestern team. The Wildcats play defense and don’t do a lot of fancy things. They just win. Indiana transfer Peyton Ramsey has done a very good job, throwing for 723 yards, but also has four interceptions. That’s a worry against a very strong Wisconsin defense. Lay the points with the Badgers.

*Oklahoma State is 5-1 and hasn’t played since Nov. 7 when they edged Kansas State by two on the road. It’s a battle of Spencers. The Cowboys are led by Spencer Sanders, who will need a huge game to beat the rival Sooners. The good news is that the OSU defense is allowing just 311.5 yards per game. They face an OU offense that is averaging 515 yards. Spencer Rattler has led the Sooners to four straight wins. They also have not played since Nov. 7, but they have put up 124 points combined in their last two games. This should be a fun one, but take the Sooners at home.

College Football Free Predictions, Previews Winners and Whiners: Week 11

We’re in Week 11 in College Football and unfortunately, we’ve seen a lot of games postponed or canceled due to COVID-19 issues. At press time, we do know that these marquee games are still on including No. 13 Wisconsin at Michigan, No. 11 Oregon at Washington State and No. 9 Miami at Virginia Tech.

*Wisconsin hasn’t played since Oct. 23 due to COVID-19 issues. They crushed Illinois 45-7 in their opener and redshirt freshman QB Graham Mertz was sensational. But he tested positive on Oct. 24 and while it appears that he may play, that hasn’t been confirmed as of Wednesday. Michigan desperately needs a win after losing two straight to Michigan State (27-24) and Indiana (38-21). QB Joe Milton has thrown for over 300 yards in both games but the defense has been another story. Despite the line, it’s hard to take Wisconsin here and all the issues they’ve had the last two weeks. Take the home dog.

*Miami has won three straight games and they have just one loss to Clemson (42-17). Something appears to be missing, because they haven’t been dominant. But Virginia Tech has many more concerns and it starts on defense. They were shocked at home by Liberty last week 38-35 as a 17-point favorite. Liberty extended Hugh Freeze after the win and Justin Fuente may get the opposite if this continues. His Hokies have wins over Louisville, Duke and NC State. That’s not impressive. The Hurricanes and D’Eriq King should not be underdogs. Take the points on the road.

*Give credit to former Hawaii coach Nick Rolovich, who took over for Mike Leach at Washington State. True freshman QB Jayden de Laura passed for 227 yards and two TDs in his first game as Rolovich-led Washington State downed Oregon State 38-28 to open their season. The Cougars will have a tough matchup this week against Oregon, who crushed Stanford 35-14 last week to open their season. The Ducks also had a new QB in Tyler Shough, who threw for 227 yards and ran for 85 yards. Washington State has covered 10 straight in this one so take the 10 points here.

We’re in Week 10 in College Football and that means the Pac-12 is finally here to start their season in early November. This week, No. 23 Michigan visits No. 13 Indiana, No. 8 Florida meets No. 5 Georgia from Jacksonville, No. 1 Clemson takes on No. 4. Notre Dame.

*Michigan has opened the season at 1-1, after an impressive win over Minnesota by 25. They struggled last week, falling to rival Michigan State 27-24 at home. Jim Harbaugh is now 8-13 against Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan State and Wisconsin during his five years. He’ll face an Indiana team that is 2-0 after shocking Penn State in the opener in overtime and then beating Rutgers on the road. Michael Pennix Jr. had three passing TDs and one rushing, while their defense forced three turnovers for the second straight week. Hoosiers are getting points, but take the Wolverines as a 3-point favorite. They are the more physical team and hungrier.

*Florida takes on Georgia in what would normally be the “World’s Largest Cocktail Party”. Florida is coming off a brawl-ridden win over Missouri last week, while Georgia struggled offensively to beat Kentucky 14-3. Both teams have one loss with Georgia falling to Alabama 41-24 and the Gators losing to Texas A&M 41-38 on the road. The Gators are led by QB Kyle Trask, who has 18 TDs and just two picks. He’ll be tested against a very good defense, though the Dawgs struggled against the pass vs. Alabama. The problem with Georgia is their mistake-prone quarterback Stetson Bennett. They also have a few key injuries on the defensive line. Take the points and the Gators.

*The most intriguing game of the weekend has Clemson going to South Bend to take on the Fighting Irish. With Trevor Lawrence out another week due to COVID-19, the Tigers will have to rely on D.J. Uiagalelei, who threw for 342 yards and two TDs in Clemson’s come-from-behind 34-28 win over Boston College last week. When you barely beat B.C. at home, even if it’s a backup quarterback, there has to be a concern. Notre Dame hasn’t really played anybody, but they are 6-0 after crushing Georgia Tech on the road 31-13 last week. Ian Book has just seven TD passes and 1,224 yards passing. He also has 212 yards rushing and five TDs. They will miss Lawrence in this game and the Tigers’ defense gets exploited again. Take the Irish and the 5.5.

Wyoming is going to show its defense is better than it was in the opener against Nevada. It’s not giving the Hawaii guys enough credit for their toughness, but it’s going to be around 80 in Honolulu at gametime, and around 25 in Laramie. It’s in Laramie, and it’s Hawaii -1. If the Rainbow Warriors can win this, it’s time to really believe they’re a major Mountain West player.

Don’t be thrown by Clemson not having Trevor Lawrence against Boston College. If you liked the Tigers before the news, stick with them. It’s not like the running game and D don’t work, and DJ Uiagalelei is just that good. BC was a bit of a gift at -32, and now it’s all over the board. Like the Eagles at -28, stay away at -24.

Which Kentucky is going to show up? It always has the ability to get the knuckleball working, but Georgia has had two weeks to sit and groove on the loss to Alabama. The 17 seems like a lot, through, after the line opened up at Dawgs -13. Georgia could win easily and still not cover.

If you learned anything about Cincinnati with the win over SMU, it’s never underestimate what this program’s style can do to the high-powered teams. The 6.5 isn’t asking for a whole lot, but at some point, one of the dangerous offensive teams on the slate will do what the Bearcats can’t with the passing game. Like Cincinnati, but if you’re into the Tigers, the +200 on the money line is enticing.

How much do you think the rivalry side of Michigan vs. Michigan State will matter? If you like the Wolverines – and you should – the line moving around as much as it has matters. The 23 isn’t asking for the world, but it’s going to go up by gametime when the Michigan investment crowd kicks in.

West Virginia vs. Kansas State is about as much of a toss-up as it gets. At home, the Mountaineers are now giving up 5 after going down to 3 before bumping back up. All that did was bump up the +170 on the K-State money line.

If this matters to you in either way, I went back-and-forth just like a Cameo song on Coastal Carolina at Georgia State. The injury concern with Grayson McCall changed up the line, but CCU’s Fred Payton can play. I like the idea that the Chanticleers are more than just the quarterback, but Georgia State can ball. Lukewarm like Coastal Carolina, love the over on the 55.5.

Illinois is better than it looked against Wisconsin. Purdue isn’t as good as it looked against Iowa. The Boilermakers should win, but watch out for the Illini to at least be far stronger and far more productive offensively no that they’re not dealing with the Badgers. The 7.5 Illinois is getting is too high, and the +240 on the money line isn’t bad.

We’re in Week 9 in College Football and we’re now one week away from the Pac-12 and MAC starting up. The Big 10 opened up with a bang as Wisconsin and Ohio State dominated, while Penn State was shocked by Indiana in overtime on a controversial two-point conversion. This week, No. 3 Ohio State take on No. 18 Penn State, Texas faces No. 6 Oklahoma State and Memphis takes on No. 7 Cincinnati.

*Ohio State looked very impressive in their first game, crushing Nebraska 52-17. Justin Fields was sensational, completing 20 of 21 for 276 yards and two TDs. Penn State lost their first game on the last play in a 36-35 loss at Indiana. The Nittany Lions missed star RB Journey Brown, who has a medical issues. They also will now be without RB Noah Cain, who suffered a season-ending injury against the Hoosiers. There is going to be more pressure on PSU QB Sean Clifford, who rushed for 119 yards, but was intercepted twice. The Buckeyes want to make a statement. Lay the 12 on the road.

*Texas travels to Stillwater to take on an undefeated Oklahoma State team. The Cowboys are coming off a 24-21 win over Iowa State and they’ve been winning with defense. That’s the most points they’ve surrendered all season as they are allowing just 12 points per game. Texas is coming off a 27-16 win over Baylor and their defense actually showed up for that one. Texas hasn’t won in Stillwater since 2014. Keep that streak alive. Take the Cowboys and give the 3.5.

*Cincinnati has a long shot of making the playoffs. They are off to a 4-0 starts and have looked very impressive doing so. They passed their first road test last week, when they demolished SMU 42-13. They take on a strong Memphis team, who had already lost at SMU 30-27 on Oct. 3. They bounced back with wins over Temple and UCF at home. The Bearcats have won with defense, as they are allowing just 12.5 points per game. QB Desmond Ridder has 723 yards  passing and had 179 yards rushing against SMU. The Tigers average 38.8 points per game and 548.8 yards. QB Brady White has 17 TD passes in four games. Memphis has dominated Cincinnati lately, but that ends here. Their defense is just not up to par. Lay the points and take Cincinnati.

We’re in Week 8 in College Football and that means the Big 10 and Mountain West make open up No. 20 Michigan at No. 25 Minnesota, No. 2 Alabama at No. 21 Tennessee, No. 18 Iowa State at No. 6 Oklahoma State

(note:Some of these picks were made by our Editor and are subject to change)

*Michigan takes on Minnesota on Saturday night as the Big 10 opens their schedule. It’s going to be a cold one from TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. It’s only late October and you can only imagine what it’s going to be like in late November in Minnesota. The Golden Gophers won 11 games last season for the first time since 1904. They face a Michigan team with a question mark at quarterback. Joe Milton and Dylan McCaffrey are 6-5 quarterbacks, but they have little to no experience. The Gophers return QB Tanner Morgan and Rashod Bateman, who caught 60 passes for 1,219 yards and 11 TDs. There are question marks on the Minnesota defense, but that won’t be enough to limit their production. Take the points and the Gophers.

*Alabama showed who the best team was in the SEC last week after an impressive 41-24 win over Georgia at home. Their defense came up big after they struggled against Ole Miss. Now they face a Tennessee team that got destroyed by Kentucky at home last week by 27. Jarrett Guarantano threw consecutive pick-sixes in the second quarter. Expect him to be benched, but Jeremy Pruitt won’t give away who his starter is. Who really wants to play against Alabama? None of the Vols’ quarterbacks unless Peyton Manning has an extra year of eligibility. The Tide wins big on the road, covering the number.

*Iowa State faces Oklahoma State in one of the top Big 12 games thus far. Oklahoma State hasn’t played since Oct. 3 due to some COVID-19 issues. The additional rest should allow them to start Spencer Sanders again at QB, though they have been relying on Shane Illingworth. Mike Gundy said he could play both quarterbacks. Iowa State offers a very good QB in Brock Purdy and an outstanding runner in Breece Hall. They are 3-0 in the Big 12 after opening up with a bad loss to Louisiana at home 31-14. It’s tough to win with rotating quarterbacks and having so many disruptions at practice. Take the Cyclones as the road dog.

Same amount, low, on every over on every game, and you’re going to win.

No matter how much I beg, how much I plead, or how much is desperately ask you to take the under, take the over.

I might try to trick you. I might try to reason that there’s no way two teams can put up that many points. I might try to do things that will make you say, “you told me you’d say that,” please, for the love of the 20 of 27 games last week that obliterated the total, and in honor of an Arkansas State-Georgia State game that ate the 72 as a light snack.

Friday Games

After begging you to take the over, why did the number go down on SMU-Tulane from a 70.5 point total to 64.5? Our official prediction has it way under, but that’s wrong – these two teams should blast away, even with the Mustangs missing two key parts of the offense. It would’ve been nice if Tulane could’ve kept the +9 it opened at, but it’s not a bad play at +6.5.

We still don’t know what Houston is quite yet. It was a hot turnover mess – mmmmmm, hot turnover mess – against Tulane in its opener, but BYU won’t let the other Cougars get away with that. This is a true toss-up, the +170 isn’t that bad on the Houston side (even though BYU should come out angry after getting pushed by UTSA).

Clemson might just throttled back a bit on Georgia Tech. The Tigers have been great in the recent years in the series – duh – but they games haven’t always been blowouts. The statement was made against Miami last week. This week, get in, get out, get on with the season. Be careful of a few late plucky scores from the Yellow Jackets – that Clemson -27 hasn’t budged an inch.

As it turns out, Miami didn’t really beat anyone before facing Clemson. The line against Pitt went from Canes -11 up to 13.5 with everyone worrying about Panther QB Kenny Pickett’s injured ankle. Whatever. John Congemi could be under center and Pitt is covering the double digits.

I have a thing for South Carolina football for absolutely no justifiable reason, other than that it should always be a whole lot better than it is. Auburn isn’t scoring enough and it’s not utilizing its NFL weapons like it should be. The Gamecocks could win this outright, and they’re getting 3.5.

Navy isn’t good, East Carolina should be a whole lot better than it’s been playing, and this is one of those games that I feel like I’m going to be really, really wrong on one way or another. Is UTSA … good? It gave BYU a hard time last week, and Army suddenly doesn’t quite look the part. I had a theory that the service academies were at a big advantage early in the season because they were in shape. That wasn’t true for Navy, but it sure was for Army. That advantage seems to be gone. Like I said for the Navy-East Carolina game, don’t be mad if the super-option team rolls up a twisted rushing yardage total, but UTSA +240 on the money line is nice.

Here’s the deal, Louisville. I’ll start thinking you can do something like cover a 17 point spread on the road against a team like Notre Dame when you do something like cover a 17 point spread on the road against a team like Notre Dame. However, that’s right at the number and what it should be. If it dips back down – it started at 14 and hovered at 16.5  – go ahead and like the Cardinals.

*Pitt has suffered the toughest losses in FBS this season. That includes a 31-30 overtime loss at Boston College and a 30-29 defeat to NC State home on Oct. 3. They are hoping that senior QB Kenny Pickett (ankle) can start in this game. Pickett threw for 266 yards last week with two TDs and a pick. His defense ranks third in the nation in sacks with 4.8 per game. Miami is led by senior QB D’Eriq King, who has six TDS and two picks. Those two picks came against Clemson. The Cards are good, but they haven’t really beaten anybody and Pickett should play in this one. Take the points and Pittsburgh on the road.

*Mississippi State and Mike Leach were riding high after a 44-34 opening road win over LSU. Well, the Tigers are not very good this season and neither are the Bulldogs. They’ve scored a combined 16 points in losses to Kentucky and Arkansas in the last two games. The Aggies are coming off an impressive 41-38 win over Florida last week. Kellen Mond was the forgotten SEC quarterback and passed for 338 yards and three TDs last week. Meanwhile, Stanford transfer K.J. Costello has nine interceptions this season. Take Texas A&M on the road. 

*Georgia is 3-0 after beating up on Tennessee 44-21 last week. They got off to a slow start in that one, but crushed the Vols in the second half. Alabama allowed 643 yards to Ole Miss last week, but still beat the Rebels 63-48. This is a match up of strong offenses as Alabama’s Mac Jones takes on Georgia’s Stetson Bennet. Georgia has the better defense and Alabama has more offensive weapons. Alabama at home and a tough week of practice for the defense. Take the Tide giving up the six points.

The NFL returns for Week 6 on Sunday and there are some great matchups. Let’s start with an AFC North tilt with Cleveland at Pittsburgh. Green Bay returns from a bye to take on Tampa Bay, while the Rams and 49ers meet in an NFC West matchup.

*The Browns don’t have Nick Chubb, but they didn’t need him last week in their 32-23 win over Indianapolis. Their defense picked off Philip Rivers twice and Baker Mayfield threw for 247 yards with two TDs and two INTs. They’ll face an undefeated Pittsburgh team that showed little rust after a bye in last week’s 38-29 win over Philadelphia. This one will come down to defense and the Steelers have one of the best in the league. Lay the points with Pittsburgh.

*Aaron Rodgers get a break when he meets up with Tom Brady, in what should be a fun game. Tampa Bay played last Thursday and they were shocked at Chicago 20-19. The Bucs missed Chris Godwin at wide receiver. He’s questionable for this one and Bucs could also use Leonard Fournette, who is not listed on the injury report. The Packers are getting Davante Adams back. That’s all Rodgers needs. Take the Packers on the road.

*The Rams took care of business the last two weeks against bad NFC teams in Washington (30-10) and the New York Giants (17-9). The Niners have looked bad against Philadelphia (25-20) and Miami (43-17) at home. Their secondary has been a mess and the offense has been awful with Jimmy Garoppolo struggling with an ankle injury. The Rams’ defense is much better and that will be the difference. Take the Rams on the road as the slight favorite.

This week, college football returns with a strong schedule for the second week in October and we have some great matchups including Clemson hosting Miami-Florida, Oklahoma vs. Texas and Florida at Texas A&M.

*No. 1 Clemson looked normal against a solid Virginia team last week, beating them by 18, but they didn’t cover the 27.5. Trevor Lawrence will see more athleticism on defense against a Miami team that didn’t play last week. The ‘Canes are 3-0 but haven’t been tested yet. They beat rival Florida State in their last game 52-10 on Sept. 26. D’Eriq King has lifted the Miami offense with 736 yards passing and 157 yards rushing. Miami will show a Clemson team that they are ready to compete, but not ready to overcome them. Take the points and the Hurricanes.

*Oklahoma faces No. 22 Texas in the Red River Showdown. Both teams can put points on the board and both defenses have many holes. The key here is at quarterback where young Spencer Rattler is 1-2 with 977 yards and 10 touchdowns. There’s a lot of pressure on him to put up points and Sam Ehlinger, whose Texas team is 1-3. This is the first time since 1999 that neither squad is in the Top 20. The Sooners have won the last two after Texas covered the previous six. Go back with the more experienced quarterback and Texas to cover.

*No 3. Florida takes on No. 20 Texas A&M from College Station. Florida has one of the premier quarterbacks in the nation in Kyle Trask and a great tight end in Kyle Pitts. Florida is really good and hasn’t their stride just yet. That’s thes cary part for a Texas A&M team that is coming off a 5224 loss at Alabama. They will need a huge performance from Kellen Mond, the senior quarterback who has 507 yards passing with four TDs and a pick. The Gators are just a little too good. Lay the points on the road with Florida.

The NFL returns for Week 5 on Sunday and the league is still trying to hang on there despite COVID-19 issues on several teams. It wasn’t a good week for Bill O’Brien, who is no longer the head coach or GM with the Houston Texans. We do have some great matchups involving the Raiders and Chiefs, Philadelphia at Pittsburgh and Indianapolis at Cleveland.

*The Las Vegas Raiders tried to step up in class against Buffalo at home and fell 30-23 last week. Derek Carr has played well thus far and should have rookie WR Henry Ruggs III back from a hamstring injury. But the defense will have to be at their best against a Kansas City team that struggled to beat New England on Monday, without Cam Newton. Take the points with KC on a short week and the Raiders running the ball successfully with Josh Jacobs.

*The Eagles got off the schnide last week with an upset win over San Francisco on Sunday night football. They have just one victory on the season, but that’s good enough to put them in first place in the NFC East. Their defensive line was superb last week and Carson Wentz made enough plays to win. The face a well-rested Steelers team that was off due to the COVID-19 issues with the Titans last week. Pittsburgh’s defense is elite and this should be a very hard-hitting contest. A touchdown is too much to lay. Take the points and the Eagles in a low-scoring game.

*Indianapolis and Cleveland are 3-1 at this point in the season. Philip Rivers has been a nice addition to the Colts, but their defense has been incredible thus far, holding their last three opponents to just 29 combined points. They’ll have a big test against the Browns, who won’t have Nick Chubb (knee), but they do have Kareem Hunt. The Colts are No. 1 in overall defense and fourth against the run. That will be a challenge that the Colts will face and conquer. Take the Colts and the slight favorite on the road.
