Ohio State offensive player-by-player PFF grades for Penn State game

As we do every week, we look at the PFF grades of all of the Ohio State offensive players after the Penn State win. #GoBucks

Ohio State had one of its most exciting wins of the season so far with a 20-12 victory over Penn State who came in ranked as a top-ten team in the country.

The win gives the Buckeyes their seventh straight victory over the Nittany Lions and wins in 11 of the last 12 matchups between the two.

The Ohio State offense struggled to move the ball at points in this game against a ferocious Penn State defense, but executed well enough to come away with the win.

The game ball on offense undoubtedly goes to Marvin Harrison Jr. who torched the Nittany Lions secondary for 162 yards and a touchdown on 11 catches.

In this article we’ll break down Harrison Jr. and the rest of the offense’s performance by position group using Pro Football Focus grades.

The Penn State Nittany Lions presented quite the challenge to the Ohio State football team on Saturday, taking the game all the way into the fourth quarter, but the Buckeyes dug deep, created a couple of turnovers on defense, and put together some drives to pull away for a 44-31 victory.

After the game, Nittany Lions head coach James Franklin was proud of his team’s effort but obviously disappointed it couldn’t finish the deal against the No. 2 ranked team in the country. He met with the local media in State College after the loss to discuss what he saw during the game and gave his thoughts on Ohio State.

We like to keep track of what the opposing coaches think of the Buckeyes after they play him and Franklin was very complimentary of his opposition today while still holding his team accountable for some shortcomings.

If you didn’t get to catch everything Franklin said about Ohio State, we have the press conference for you thanks to Mark Brennan of 247Sports. Watch and listen to Franklin give credit to OSU’s skill, marvel at Marvin Harrison Jr, discuss his team’s turnovers and more.

With the victory, Ohio State runs its record to 8-0 and will hit the road again next week when it travels to Northwestern.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba status updated on Ohio State availability repprt for Penn State game

Ohio State issued its availability report and it looks like Jaxon Smith-Njigba will sit it out vs. Penn State once again. #GoBucks

The Ohio State football team doesn’t provide an injury report any longer, but it does give us an availability report a couple of hours prior to each game and we just received the one for Penn State.

Of course, everyone is curious to know whether star receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba is going to play and it appears that he will not be in the lineup once again as he continues to deal with a tricky hamstring injury. Ryan Day was optimistic early in the week that he would suit up with a “pitch count” but seemed to back off of that a little later in the week.

You can look for Marvin Harrison Jr, Emeka Egbuka, and Pennsylvania native Julian Fleming to be the guys to be ready to be weapons for quarterback C.J. Stroud once again.

In addition to Smith-Njigba, starting cornerback Cam Brown will be out once again. Here is the rest of the availability report.

Ohio State vs. Penn State Buckeyes Wire staff predictions

Time for another round of predictions from our staff as Ohio State hits the road to take on Penn State Saturday afternoon. #GoBucks

OK, here we go. Ohio State and Penn State are ready to face each other Saturday afternoon in a key Big Ten tussle that will go a long way toward deciding what team wins the East division.

The Nittany Lions have already dropped a game to Michigan, so another loss most likely takes them out of the running. A loss by the Buckeyes isn’t the absolute end of the world, but it would make the road home a lot tougher.

Each week, we like to have our three writers give their score predictions for each Ohio State football game and a quick reason the game will play out that way.

Here’s how Phil, Mark and Josh see the game ending up after the fans start to file out of Beaver Stadium late Saturday afternoon.

Ohio State vs. Penn State: Stream, injury report, broadcast info for Saturday

How to watch Ohio State vs. Penn State, plus some key injuries and players to watch. #GoBucks

We have a fairly sizeable matchup in the Big Ten this week, and it involves Ohio State traveling to Happy Valley to take on Penn State. Both teams are ranked inside the top 15, and both would love a win to put themselves in position to win the Big East title and head to Indianapolis for the Big Ten Championship game.

The oddsmakers like Ohio State as roughly a two-touchdown favorite, but we’ve seen some pretty tight games in Beaver Stadium in years past. Nobody would be surprised if it turned out that way this year.

As you order up your pizza and grab some beverages and head out to a watch party, we’re sure you might need the intel on this game, so we’re bringing it to you.

Here’s how to find the game, some key injuries to be on the lookout for, and a couple of key players for the titanic matchup between the Buckeyes and Nittany Lions on Saturday.

Five reasons Penn State could cause issues for Ohio State Saturday

Are you at all worried about the trip to Happy Valley this year for Ohio State? #GoBucks

It’s an Ohio State football game eve folks, and we’re getting ready for a pretty big one this weekend with the Buckeyes traveling to Happy Valley to take on a top-15 opponent, the Penn State Nittany Lions.

The Buckeyes have looked nearly unbeatable, taking care of teams easily even with less than their best at times. However, traveling to State College seems to always result in a Donnybrook, and Ohio State better be ready for the best shot Penn State can dish out.

There are plenty of reasons to believe that OSU will take care of business on Saturday afternoon, but there are others that say this one could turn into a bit of an unexpected dogfight for a game the oddsmakers say Ohio State should handle rather easily.

And while we will be rooting hard for this game to have a very distinct scarlet and gray flair, here are five reasons Penn State could pose a threat to derail the undefeated season for Ryan Day and his gang.
