Eagles worked out free agent punter Brock Miller

Philadelphia #Eagles worked out free agent punter Brock Miller on Friday in advance of Sunday’s matchup against the #WashingtonFootball Team

With the NFL engulfed in a COVID-19 rise among players, the Eagles took some precautions on Friday,  holding another workout for free agent punter Brock Miller per the league’s transaction wire.

Arryn Siposs is one of the NFL’s top young punters and doesn’t appear set to miss any game action, but Philadelphia appears to be taking cautious steps.

Entering the league as an undrafted free agent in 2014, Miller has yet to see game action while bouncing around the league from the practice squad to the practice squad.

Miller signed a futures contract with the San Francisco 49ers in January 2017 but was cut later that offseason in May.

He’s also spent four different occasions on the Giants’ practice squad and most recently signed with the Los Angeles Rams during the 2019 preseason.

Cameron Johnston to be an unrestricted free agent after Eagles elect not to tender veteran punter

Cameron Johnston to be an unrestricted free agent after Eagles elect not to tender veteran punter

The Arryn Sippos era could be set to begin in Philadelphia, as Ian Rapoport is reporting that veteran punter Cameron Johnston is set to become an unrestricted free agent.

Per Rapoport, the Eagles are choosing to not tender Johnston($2.24M) because of their dire salary cap situation.

It could be a big loss if Johnston signs elsewhere.

Through his first two NFL seasons (2018-19), Johnston had produced the highest gross (47.2) and net (42.5) punting averages in Eagles team history.

In 2018, Johnston ranked third and fourth in the NFL in net and gross.

In 2020, Johnston averaged 46.7 yards per punt.

Siposs is an Australian native who played in the Australian Football League before going on to play college football for Auburn.

Siposs signed with the Detroit Lions as an undrafted rookie free agent last spring before losing a training camp battle with Jack Fox, who was one of the top punters in the league this season.

Johnston was set to be a restricted free agent this offseason and a tendering at $2.24 million is now a price the Eagles are choosing to pass on.

Lions bring back Beau Benzschawel and Arryn Siposs to the practice squad

Both Benzschawel and Siposs had been on the squad all year prior to being released this week

The boomerang flings back to Detroit for rookie punter Arryn Siposs. Days after being dumped from the Lions’ practice squad, the former Australian football pro is back with the team.

Siposs and offensive lineman Beau Benzschawel were re-signed to the practice squad on Saturday as part of a flurry of roster moves. Both Siposs and Benzschawel had been with the Lions all offseason and on the practice squad all year until their release earlier this week. Neither player signed with another team, so they are immediately available back in Detroit.

To make room for the old standards, the Lions released RB Dalyn Dawkins and TE Matt Sokol from the practice squad. Both were signed earlier in the week.
