Notre Dame commit named to McDonald’s All-American roster

Take a look at the Irish’s future soon.

Notre Dame really seems to have a knack for attracting recruits that ultimately are named to the McDonald’s All-American Game. In fact, six of the 13 players on the Irish’s current roster are former McDonald’s All-Americans. Now, they’ll be able to add another one next season.

[autotag]Kate Koval[/autotag], the fifth-ranked recruit on ESPN’s 2024 HoopGurlz rankings, has been named to the 2024 game, which will be played April 2 in Houston. At 6-foot-4, Koval will be the only center on the East roster. There, she’ll be joined by Long Island Lutheran teammates Kayleigh Heckel, who is heading to USC, and Syla Swords, who will go to Michigan.

Koval signed with the Irish in November as a five-star recruit one year after the program was able to secure three such recruits for 2023. She is the reigning Gatorade New York Girls Basketball Player of the Year after a season in which she averaged a double-double a game as well as 3.4 blocks a game.

Koval will provide size on a team that always could use more. It will be pretty tough to match the freshman season [autotag]Hannah Hidalgo[/autotag] has had so far, but she should at least give it a shot if for no reason than she could say she tried.

UNC signees Ian Jackson and Drake Powell ranked in 247Sports’ Top 10 Class of 2024 recruits

Ian Jackson and Drake Powell are two of the UNC men’s basketball program’s most highly-anticipated arrivals in recent memory.

As the common social media hashtag goes after UNC victories, it’s a great day to be a Tar Heel right now.

Both the Carolina men and women are holding down first place in the ACC right now, something I haven’t seen simultaneously in ages, while both are also on long winning streaks. UNC has veteran talent on both teams, something that’s crucial to making a deep run in the NCAA Tournament.

Both squads also have highly-ranked recruits coming in to replace the departing talent next year.

For the men, Ian Jackson and Drake Powell will be the next two 5-stars to suit up in Carolina blue.

Jackson, a shooting guard from Our Savior Lutheran School (NY) and Powell, a small forward from Northwood High School (NC), are both listed as Top-10 recruits in 247Sports’ list of 2024 5-star players.

Jackson, who’s in the midst of his season, will likely take over at starting shooting guard for RJ Davis next year.

Drake Powell is dominating the NCHSAA circuit, as he currently has his Chargers at a 13-3 record and first place in the 1A/2A Mid-Carolina Conference. Powell’s leading Northwood in every statistical category – his ultimate goal is to help his team capture its first-ever state championship, particularly after coming so close last year in its fifth try.

Michigan State football flips 2024 kicker Martin Connington

BREAKING: MSU flips Oregon State kicker Martin Connington

Michigan State has made their first splash of the late window in the 2024 recruiting class. Jonathan Smith has made it known that he wants to build the MSU program through the high school ranks and the month of January has proved that importance.

After signing 18 players in December, Smith will want to get a handful more by the February signing period, and the first domino has dropped.

Kicker Martin Connington has flipped his commitment from Oregon State to Michigan State after an official visit this past weekend.

Nebraska to receive visit from former Washington signee

The Nebraska Cornhuskers will be hosting a former Washington commitment in the near future.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers will play host to a former Washington Huskies defensive signee in the near future.

According to Adam Gorney of Rivals, 2024 defensive end Keona Wilhite plans to visit Nebraska after he visits Michigan State this weekend. While Gorney didn’t mention Nebraska by name in his tweet, he tagged Rivals’ Nebraska team site, Inside Nebraska, and site publisher Zack Carpenter.

Wilhite is ranked by Rivals as a four-star prospect and a top-15 player in the state of Arizona. A native of Tuscon, Arizona, Wilhite also holds offers from Arizona, BYU, Colorado, Oregon State, Michigan State, UCLA and, of course, Washington.

After committing and signing with Washington, Wilhite was recently released from his letter of intent following the departure of head coach Kalen DeBoer, who took the head coaching job last week at Alabama.

The Huskers hold 28 commitments in their 2024 recruiting class, and all of them signed during the early signing period.

Michigan State football: Early enrollees from the 2024 recruiting class

Check out who from the 2024 recruiting class is early enrolled at MSU:

Winter workouts and conditioning has begun for Michigan State football, who will look to make a splash in new head coach Jonathan Smith’s first season. Part of that success will come from the freshman class, and some key pieces entering the fold.

The Spartans have nine players that early enrolled this January and are now participating with the team as the winter progresses.

Sooners latest to offer the best 2025 prospect from state of Arizona

Oklahoma is still on the hunt for more wide receivers as they offered four-star wide receiver Cooper Perry out of Arizona.

Many members of Oklahoma’s 2024 class are in the building and starting their journeys as Oklahoma Sooners as we speak. That officially signals the end of recruiting for the 2024 class in Norman.

The page is officially turned, and now the class 2025 is top priority on the recruiting trail. Oklahoma has had a terrific start for 2025, third nationally, with nine commits already as things stand today.

The Sooners are looking to add to that tally, and they recently reached out to four-star wide receiver Cooper Perry out of Arizona this week. Perry is the 220th-ranked player on 247Sports’ player rankings, and most recruiting services consider him the number one prospect in the state for 2025.

Perry has decent size at 6-foot-1 and is a dynamic playmaker with the ball in his hands, making multiple highlight plays after the catch. His high school team utilized him from the slot and outside, allowing him to develop into a versatile receiving threat. Arizona, Ole Miss, Oregon, and California are among the many schools that have offered Perry.

Who are LSU football’s early enrollees in 2024?

Brian Kelly and his staff have done an incredible job of recruiting the best players in the 2024 recruiting class.

[autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] and his staff have done an incredible job of recruiting the best players in the 2024 recruiting class. The class currently ranks as the No. 9 class in the country according to 247Sports. Currently, 28 players from the class have signed their letter of intent to play next fall for LSU.

13 of those players decided to become early enrollees, meaning that they are already on campus and even participated in practices as the Tigers headed into the bowl game against Wisconsin. Of those 13 players, five are on offense and eight are on defense.

Take a look at all 13 players that are already in Baton Rouge.

Michigan State football: 5 recruits in the 2024 class to monitor before the late signing period

5 recruits in the 2024 class to monitor before the late signing period:

In today’s college football, recruiting is a 24/7, all year proposition for programs and its coaches. While many know about the early signing period, that occurs in December, the late signing period in February is still an important date to monitor.

New MSU head coach Jonathan Smith has made it known that he is always looking to improve his roster, and I expect him to take advantage of this late signing period to add more talent into the 2024 recruiting class.

Check out five players that fans should monitor before the late signing period:

2024 5-star UNC commit selected for Nike Hoops Summit

UNC Basketball 2024 commit Ian Jackson is focused on helping his school team capture a title, but he’ll be playing in a big game come April.

For how much talent the UNC men’s basketball program is expected to lose after this season, it’s gaining a lot in the 2024 recruiting class.

At the top of that list is local Northwood High School product Drake Powell, who’s hoping to lead his Chargers to their first NCHSAA State Championship in six tries. Powell is a lockdown defender, speedy guard/forward combo who can sprint to the rim for thunderous dunks, plus a spot-up shooter who can knock it down from anywhere.

Chicago, Ill.-based center James Brown is a 4-star center who’s expected to push Jalen Washington for starting minutes next year. Brown is playing at basketball powerhouse Link Academy, which just won the GEICO Nationals last year.

The third and final incoming commit in the 2024 recruiting class is 5-star Ian Jackson, a Long Island (NY) product who’s playing at Our Savior Lutheran School in The Bronx. Jackson is a talented, 6’4″ shooting guard who’s expected to fill RJ Davis’ spot.

After Jackson’s high school season wraps up, he’ll be heading to the Nike Hoops Summit in April. This event showcases some of the country’s best high school talent, pinning them against the world’s best players ages 19 and under.

Check out what 247Sports had to say about Jackson:

“Ian Jackson has long been a household name in grassroots basketball, hailing from Bronx (NY) Our Savior Lutheran School and the NY Wiz Kids 3SSB program,” 247Sports’ Travis Branham wrote. “He’s a 6-foot-5 athlete that can put the ball in the hole and has been improving his half-court skillset this season. He scores from all three levels, but is at his best in transition and getting downhill, where he can put up some highlight reel dunks and isn’t afraid to try and put someone on a poster. Jackson has won two gold medals for Team USA and headlines North Carolina’s 2024 recruiting class.”

It’s tough not to look ahead to next year, but all the current focus in Chapel Hill is on capturing National Championship number seven.

When the 2024-2025 campaign comes, Jackson will look to continue helping UNC remain a household name and amongst the ACC’s best.
