Michigan State football flips 2024 kicker Martin Connington

BREAKING: MSU flips Oregon State kicker Martin Connington

Michigan State has made their first splash of the late window in the 2024 recruiting class. Jonathan Smith has made it known that he wants to build the MSU program through the high school ranks and the month of January has proved that importance.

After signing 18 players in December, Smith will want to get a handful more by the February signing period, and the first domino has dropped.

Kicker Martin Connington has flipped his commitment from Oregon State to Michigan State after an official visit this past weekend.

Michigan State football: 5 recruits in the 2024 class to monitor before the late signing period

5 recruits in the 2024 class to monitor before the late signing period:

In today’s college football, recruiting is a 24/7, all year proposition for programs and its coaches. While many know about the early signing period, that occurs in December, the late signing period in February is still an important date to monitor.

New MSU head coach Jonathan Smith has made it known that he is always looking to improve his roster, and I expect him to take advantage of this late signing period to add more talent into the 2024 recruiting class.

Check out five players that fans should monitor before the late signing period:

Michigan State football loses upcoming game against Louisiana, new opponent TBD

MSU is undergoing a change to their upcoming 2024 football schedule:

News broke early Wednesday morning that Michigan State has lost a game on its upcoming football schedule when Louisiana announced that it has replaced its September 14th game against Michigan State. The Ragin Cajuns will now play Wake Forest instead of the Spartans.

Now, Michigan State is faced with the task of replacing that game on the schedule which is something the athletic department will look to finalize quickly.

It would be anticipated that an FCS opponent will be added.

The running back ranks as a 3-star prospect according to all recruiting platforms. He was previously committed to Oregon State, but held additional offers from Arkansas, Boise State, Minnesota and Missouri.

Frazier joins Justin Denson, Charlton Luniewski, Mercer Luniewski, Nick Marsh, Jaylen Thompson, Jadyn Walker and Keshawn Williams as members of the Spartans 2024 recruiting class.

Michigan State football offers, gets predictions for 2024 QB

MSU might be on the verge of landing their QB in the 2024 recruiting class:

Michigan State might be on the verge of landing its quarterback for the 2024 recruiting class. The Spartans coaching staff sent an offer to Alessio Milivojevic, a native of Wheaton, Illinois.

Milivojevic is committed to Ball State, but he holds power conference offers from Nebraska and Ole Miss. The signal-caller is a three-star prospect, but after a stellar senior year, he could be in line for a bump.

Shortly after the offer came in, several 247Sports crystal ball predictions followed for the Spartans to land the QB.

Milivojevic would replace Henry Hasselbeck, who decommitted earlier this week, as the Spartans’ quarterback in the 2024 recruiting class.

The Spartans adding a second QB in the 2024 class is not off the table at this time.

Former Oregon State commit schedules Michigan State football official visit

Andrew Brinson IV has scheduled an official visit with Michigan State:

One of the first players in the 2024 recruiting class that Jonathan Smith and his staff pursued once getting to East Lansing was Tampa (FL) cornerback Andrew Brinson IV, a former Oregon State commit.

Brinson was the first offer handed out by the new staff and things seem to be moving quickly in his recruitment, as he has scheduled an official visit to MSU on December 15-17.

Resetting Michigan State football’s 2024 QB recruiting board

Michigan State has done a full reset to its 2024 QB recruiting board, check out who the Spartans are going to target:

Michigan State is looking to build momentum on the recruiting trail for 2024. Currently, the Spartans only hold two commitments, both in the defensive backfield. As summer approaches, the MSU coaching staff will continue to build the class.

The QB position has been a roller coaster so far in the 2024 cycle for MSU. In the last edition of resetting MSU’s 2024 QB board, we had five quarterbacks on the list; only one holdover is on this list.

That problem stemmed from the staff not pursuing Davi Belfort’s commitment, allowing him to choose Virginia Tech, losing highly touted four-star Jake Merklinger to Tennessee and Daniel Kaelin choosing Missouri before visiting East Lansing.

Now, OC Jay Johnson is left resetting his QB board, and we have some clarity on what it looks like:

Michigan State football makes top 8 for 4-star defensive back Kenyan Kelly

Kenyan Kelly has featured Michigan State in his top 8

Michigan State is making a strong push to land 4-star defensive back Kenyan Kelly. Kelly is a product of Sean Cooper’s training facility, who Michigan State has a very strong relationship with, already landing Bai Jobe from the C4 Sports Performance family.

Now, Kelly is the latest top prospect that the Spartans are trying to get to East Lansing. Kelly ranks as a 4-star prospect according to 247Sports.

Aside from Michigan State, the other teams within the top 8 include: Arkansas, TCU, Baylor, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, LSU and Tennessee.
