Former Michigan State football commit LB Jadyn Walker flips to USC

Back in September, Michigan State football landed a big in-state commitment from 3-star linebacker Jadyn Walker. On Wednesday, he walked back that commitment, officially, signing with USC to join their 2024 recruiting class.

Walker is the No. 1,110 ranked player in the 2024 recruiting class, so perhaps not the biggest blow to the 2024 MSU class, but it is a tough loss as Walker is from Portage, Michigan and was a top-20 player in the state.

USC football flips Michigan State commit Jadyn Walker, adds a linebacker for 2024

USC adds two solid defensive players late in the 2024 cycle, a real boost going into the Big Ten.

The USC Trojans made some late-cycle gains in recruiting for the Class of 2024. The Trojans added pass rusher Ratumana Bulabalavu on Tuesday. Then, on signing day — Wednesday, February 7 — they landed a three-star linebacker from the state of Michigan. Jadyn Walker had previously committed to Michigan State, but the Trojans were able to flip him and bring him to Southern California.

Checking in at 6-3 and 210 pounds, Walker gives new USC linebacker coach Matt Entz a player he can work with from the ground up. It can’t be said often enough: Whereas previous (exciting) USC defensive prospects were coached by Alex Grinch, limiting their overall development, each new USC prospect brought into the program this year will be coached by an elite defensive staff. Player development should be miles better than it was before.

USC’s late-cycle defensive pickups in 2024 give the Trojans more depth to handle the rigors of the Big Ten. This was a very good 24 hours for the Trojans.

Here, below, are a few more notes on Jadyn Walker, the newest Trojan:

4 recruits to pay attention to before signing day for Michigan State football

4 recruits to monitor as the late signing period approaches:

Michigan State head coach Jonathan Smith has made it known that the late signing period was going to be used by Michigan State to aid their 2024 recruiting class, and they are doing just that.

There is one position group that the staff is really focused on, and that is the defensive line, pursuing multiple prospects on the defensive front.

Along with the defensive line, the Spartans picked up commitments from kicker Martin Connington and wide receiver Jaylan Brown, who are expected to sign without hiccups.

Now, all the attention turns to four prospects as the official end of the 2024 recruiting cycle nears:

Michigan State football: 5 recruits in the 2024 class to monitor before the late signing period

5 recruits in the 2024 class to monitor before the late signing period:

In today’s college football, recruiting is a 24/7, all year proposition for programs and its coaches. While many know about the early signing period, that occurs in December, the late signing period in February is still an important date to monitor.

New MSU head coach Jonathan Smith has made it known that he is always looking to improve his roster, and I expect him to take advantage of this late signing period to add more talent into the 2024 recruiting class.

Check out five players that fans should monitor before the late signing period:

MSU commit, 3-star LB Jadyn Walker picks up offer from USC

New Big Ten rival USC is looking to flip one of the Spartans’ few commits in the 2024 class

New Big Ten rival USC is looking to flip one of the Spartans’ few commits in the 2024 class.

Michigan State commit and three-star linebacker Jadyn Walker has picked up an offer from USC. Walker has been committed to Michigan State since September.

Walker hails from Portage, Mich. and ranks as the No. 19 player from Michigan in the 247Sports’ composite rankings for the 2024 class. Michigan State is one of five schools to have offered Walker, with USC, Arizona State, Eastern Michigan and Toledo also extending him an offer.

Michigan State football picks up commitment from 2024 instate LB Jadyn Walker

Michigan State has picked up their newest 2024 commitment on Saturday. Instate LB Jadyn Walker has committed to MSU:

Michigan State has picked up their latest commitment in the 2024 recruiting class, this time dipping into their own state. MSU offered Jadyn Walker on his visit to East Lansing this weekend and he made the quick decision to jump on the offer and commit to the Spartans. Walker was previously committed to the University of Toledo.

Walker is a 6-foot-3, 205 pound linebacker from Portage, Michigan, attending Portage Northern High School. He got on the Spartans coaching staff’s radar after a great camp performance this past June.
