Texas Longhorns make the cut for four-star defensive end

The Texas Longhorns were among the top 11 schools being considered for 2021 four-star defensive end Shemar Turner of DeSoto, Texas.

Shemar Turner of DeSoto recently released his top schools for consideration. The 2021 recruit has Texas among those schools. The Longhorns made an offer back in June of 2019. Turner would be a huge get for the team as they try and rekindle their pass rush that has been missing from the team for a few seasons now.

Notre Dame Offers Star ’21 Illinois Athlete

Notre Dame offered three/four-star athlete Sam Jackson of Naperville, IL a scholarship on Wednesday.

Notre Dame has offered a 2021 athlete from the state of Illinois as Sam Jackson is the latest prospect to get a scholarship offer from Brian Kelly and the Fighting Irish staff.  Jackson made the offer public knowledge on his Twitter profile Wednesday morning.

Jackson is listed at 5-7 and 170 pounds and plays quarterback at Naperville Central in Naperville, Illinois but is being recruited as an “athlete” by most schools.  Maybe a gadget guy who can occasionally be a threat to throw?

Jackson was a one-time commitment to PJ Fleck and Minnesota but announced he was re-opening his recruitment in January.  Most of the Big Ten aside from Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State have offered scholarships while Missouri, Oregon and Virginia Tech are some of the bigger names nationally to have offered.

Texas football targets five-star running back in 2021 class

Texas head coach Tom Herman is hoping to sign the nation’s top running back in consecutive recruiting classes.

Could the Longhorns sign the nation’s top running back in consecutive recruiting classes?

It’s a legitimate possibility. Five-star running back Camar Wheaton took an unofficial visit to Texas this week. A high-profile prospect out of Garland Lakeview Centennial, Wheaton traveled to Austin on Tuesday according to Burnt Orange Nation.

Wheaton currently holds dozens of offers, but Oklahoma and Texas appear to be two of his top destinations. The Longhorns only signed one running back in the 2020 recruiting class in five-star prospect Bijan Robinson.

According to 247Sports Composite, Wheaton is the No. 16 overall player in the 2021 recruiting class. Although the 5’11, 190-pound playmaker is the highest-rated prospect at his respective position, he’s the No. 2 overall player in the state of Texas behind offensive tackle Tommy Brockermeyer .

Wheaton has accounted for over 3,000 rushing yards and 40 rushing touchdowns throughout his high school career thus far.

Texas football now has a five-star commit in 2021 recruiting class

Texas commit Ja’Tavion Sanders recently received his five-star rating by 247Sports Composite.

Texas is off to a hot start with the 2021 recruiting class.

Head coach Tom Herman is on pace to end the recruiting cycle with another top ten finish. The 2021 class currently includes talented four-star quarterback Jalen Milroe, four-star athlete Billow Bowman and newly-designated five-star athlete Ja’Tavion Sanders.

According to 247Sports Composite, Sanders is now the No. 1 athlete in the nation and the No. 21 overall prospect. With the recent updates of the Top247 and other industry rankings, Sanders is now labeled as a five-star prospect.

He is now the highest-rated commit in the 2021 class. In 2020, Texas signed two five-star prospects in running back Bijan Robinson and defensive lineman Alfred Collins.

The 6-3.5, 220 pound playmaker played both ways at Denton Ryan and earned first-team all-District 4-5A D-1 at defensive end. He also excelled at wide receiver, compiling 47 receptions for 763 yards and 7 touchdowns.

Sanders committed to the Longhorns last September, is one of the top commitments under Herman amidst his four-year tenure with the program.

2021 Four-Star OT Announces Top Nine Schools

2021 Four-Star offensive tackle Reuben Fatheree II has announced his top nine schools, with Texas making the cut.

2021 Four-Star offensive tackle Reuben Fatheree II has announced his top nine schools, Texas made the short list. The Longhorns join Big 12 foes Baylor, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Texas Tech in the running, while Notre Dame, Texas A&M, and Ohio State round out the top nine.

With 247Sports’ Crystal Ball currently projecting the Aggies, Texas may be losing a prospect to their bitter in-state rivals. Listed at 6-foot-8 and 305 pounds, Fatheree has already been compared to Mike McGlinchey of the San Fransico 49ers.

Coming out of Foster High School in Richmond, TX, Fatheree is the No. 15 ranked offensive tackle in the country. Listed as the 19th best player in the state of Texas, he misses out of a top 100 ranking by 18 spots.

When the recruiting class of 2021 is finished, it has the chance to be full of excellent offensive lineman for Texas. Already having the commitment for four-star OT Hayden Connor, the Longhorns are also favorite to sign the Brockermeyer twins. The protection for the quarterback post-Sam Ehlinger will be one of the best in the country if Texas can secure Fatheree’s signature.

Four-star Texas commit will play in 2021 Under Armour All-America game

Four-star athlete Ja’Tavion Sanders recently committed to playing in the 2021 Under Armour All-America game.

It’s been an exciting week for the Denton Ryan duo of four-star athletes Ja’tavion Sanders and Billy Bowman.

The two Texas commits have each been invited to play in one of the top invite-only All-Star Games in 2021. Bowman announced his invite to the Adidas All-American Bowl yesterday, while Sanders committed to playing in the Under Armour All-America game this morning.

According to 247Sports, Sanders is listed as the No. 1 ranked athlete in the state of Texas for the 2021 recruiting class. Currently the No. 14 overall player in the nation, Sanders verbally committed to Texas in September of last year.

He’s a high-motor player who can play on both sides of the ball, although major recruiting sites list him as an edge defender. Sanders has an incredible opportunity to showcase his talents in the All-America game amidst the nations top players.

With an impressive showing, the 6-3.5, 220 pound playmaker could legitimately become a five-star prospect by the end of his recruiting cycle.

Four-star Texas commit invited to play in 2021 All-American Bowl

Four-star Texas commit Billy Bowman has been invited to play in the 2021 Adidas All-American Bowl.

Texas is on pace to have another top recruiting class in the nation.

Head coach Tom Herman finished the 2020 recruiting cycle in the No. 9 spot, but the 2021 class is expected to surpass those numbers. Part of that reason is due to four-star athlete Billy Bowman Jr. who verbally committed to the Longhorns in July of this past year.

According to 247Sports Composite, Bowman is currently rated the No. 3 athlete in the nation and the No. 49 overall player. Similar to what happened to five-star recruits such as Bijan Robinson and Alfred Collins in the 2020 class, Bowman still has the ability to increase his prospect grades if he performs well in one of the few invite-only all-star games.

Fortunately for Bowman, he was recently invited to participate in the 2021 Adidas All-American Bowl.

Although major recruiting sites list him as a wide receiver prospect, he is versatile due to his build and can play multiple spots in the secondary if needed.

At Denton High School, he is a three-sport athlete that recently led their football program to a 15-1 overall record and Texas 5A D-I state runner-up finish as a junior.

The 5-10, 175 pound do-it-all athlete could realistically become a five-star prospect by the end of his recruiting cycle.

Texas sends offer to 2021 four-star cornerback out of California

Texas recently jumped into the competition to recruit four-star cornerback Jaylin Davies out of California.

Although Alabama has been heavily recruiting four-star cornerback Jaylin Davies since last summer, the Longhorns have recently jumped into the competition.

According to 247Sports Composite, Davies is a four-star prospect who has received offers from Alabama, UCLA, Auburn, Arizona, and many others. The 6-0, 165-pound defensive back is the No. 11 overall player out of California in the 2021 recruiting class.

It appears Davies had a great talk with Texas’ new defensive coordinator Chris Ash. Davies is a physical, natural cover corner out of Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana that would likely compete for playing time immediately for the Longhorns.

He was part of the 2019 MaxPreps High School Junior All-American team and the California All-State Football Team presented by Suddenlink by Altice.
