11. Carlo Kemp
On Thursday, Don Brown noted that Kemp is a ‘300-pounder’ which should bode well for his prospects at the next level. Heck, it’ll bode well for him this year.
2019 was his first year as a bona fide starter at defensive tackle, and it’s been quite a journey for Kemp. The Colorado native came to Michigan as a linebacker recruit, then was working alongside Rashan Gary as the backup anchor before bulking up to play on the interior.
He got his feet wet in 2018 but really started to make a solid impact in 2019. 2020 should be the year, in his fifth-year on the team, that the team captain puts it all together.
Kemp isn’t Maurice Hurst or a tackle at that elite of a level. However, he’s a blue collar, solid player who has a future in the league should he continue to build upon his first full season as the starter inside.
Where we see him as of now?
Fourth or fifth-round. A good, solid player, as mentioned, but not quite elite. Certainly has a year to prove that sentiment wrong.
