Power Ranking: Michigan football future NFL draft potential

Where we envision the current crop of Wolverines to be drafted as of today if not much changes between now and next year.

5. Ambry Thomas

Belleville (MI) head coach Jermain Crowell once told us that of all of the Detroit-based cornerbacks that have gone to Michigan, Thomas has the potential to be the best. We agree.

But, he has to have a Jourdan Lewis-level senior year to cement himself in that position. Something we believe he’s certainly capable of.

Thomas has speed in spades, and is a lockdown cover corner. He’s a little taller than his predecessors at 6-foot-0, which should certainly help his draft stock to boot. Yet, in recent years, we haven’t seen Michigan corners get the love in the NFL as we’d expect. Jourdan Lewis went in the third-round, as did David Long, who left early. Lavert Hill inexplicably went undrafted.

Still, we feel like there will be more hype surrounding Thomas and that will help make him a second-day player.

Where we see him as of now?

Third-round, due to the aforementioned. But we think he’s a first or second-round talent.
