The consistency of Rhema McKnight…

Quiet and consistent, Rhema McKnight is absolutely one of the most underappreciated players in Notre Dame history. He and Michael Floyd are the only two players in Notre Dame history to have three seasons of at least 40 catches and 600 receiving yards. He was the leading receiver for the final two seasons of the Tyrone Willingham era before being shifted to third receiver when Charlie Weis took over. His career trajectory leads to an unbelievable “What If?” scenario. During Weis’ first season, McKnight suffered a season-ending knee injury early on. Does that team win more with three devastating weapons at wide receiver like Samardzija, Stovall and McKnight? Who knows? During his final season, he bounced back from injury and recorded 15 receiving touchdowns, currently tied for the school record. Pretty impressive to come back from injury and be essentially the same player he was before. Weis once compared him to Hines Ward, who was the model of consistency throughout this length NFL career.
