Claypool has displayed many top qualities this season, but his constant physicality for the position continues to resonate with me each game I watch. For all of the outstanding ball-snatching and body-contorting he’s done this season, my favorite Claypool plays remain those when he buries his shoulder into a defender after the catch to pick up extra yardage. The crossing patterns Claypool finds himself running often aren’t only utilized as a means to get him open, but also because he’s able to build up speed for more yards after the catch. Most wide receivers aren’t built to dole out the punishment to a defender or to be the aggressor in run-blocking, but Claypool is and that will certainly serve him well at the next level.
