The hands of Jeff Samardzija…

For two seasons, it seemed like anything thrown in the direction of Samardzija was going to be caught.  The man who is third in most major receiving categories (though he left Notre Dame as the leader in receptions, yards and touchdowns), did most of his damage in just two years starting and ultimately passed up playing in the NFL, was able to snare whatever was thrown at him from Brady Quinn, usually with defenders draped all over him.  Very rarely did a ball get into his body. Samardzija would just use his mitts to pluck the ball from the heavens. If I needed to call on one player to make a catch in a big moment for me, I’m calling “The Shark”. Because it wasn’t hitting the ground.
