Michigan’s new 5-star QB Jadyn Davis: ‘It starts with players recruiting players’

Here’s what Davis told Rivals after his commitment about building a championship squad.

On Friday, the Michigan Wolverines got a commitment from Providence Day (NC) five-star quarterback Jadyn Davis. Ranked the No. 2 QB in the class of 2024 by 247Sports, Davis gives Michigan the last piece of the puzzle they’ve been missing in their rise to becoming an elite college football powerhouse.

Now that they have their centerpiece of the future, head coach Jim Harbaugh and his staff will have to build around him. However, Davis thinks players recruiting other players is an even more critical part of the process.

Here’s what Davis told Rivals about building a championship squad.

“Forget the coaches recruiting kids, it starts wieth players recruiting players. That’s what we’ve seen be the most successful. I want the best receivers in the country. I want the Jeremiah Smiths. I want the JoJo Traders. I want the Ryan Wingos… I also want guys on the defensive side of the ball because a good offense isn’t good without a great defense getting them the ball back so I’m trying to build a complete team. That’s what I’m going to try my hardest to do to bring Michigan a National Championship. That’s what these fans deserve. That’s all they’ve been waiting on.”

Recruiting Davis gave a big boost to Michigan’s class of 2024, which now ranks No. 3 in the nation.

However, they have yet to recruit any wide receivers in this cycle. The No. 1 ranked receiver in the class is Jeremiah Smith, who’s committed to Ohio State for now – however, he has been exploring his options of late.

Nation’s No. 1 tight end schedules official visit to Tennessee

The nation’s No. 1 tight end has scheduled an official visit to Tennessee.

Four-star tight end Jaden Reddell has scheduled an official visit to Tennessee on June 3.

Reddell visited Tennessee on April 1.

The 6-foot-4, 230-pound tight end is from Raymore-Peculiar High School in Peculiar, Missouri.

As a junior in 2022, Reddell recorded 49 receptions, 1,002 receiving yards, 12 receiving touchdowns and averaged 20.4 yards per reception.

Prospect profile: 2024 four-star QB Samaj Jones

Recruiting profile for OU target and four-star QB Samaj Jones from Philadelphia, PA.

Oklahoma’s cast a wide net for quarterbacks in the class of 2024. Michael Hawkins has long been their primary target but with the increasing likelihood that Dillon Gabriel and Davis Beville will not be back next year, the Sooners may have to take an additional quarterback on top of Hawkins. That is if they were to land Hawkins when he announces his college commitment on April 8.

Last week, 2024 four-star QB Samaj Jones included the Sooners in his top four schools. He’s an athletic player with great developmental potential if he were to choose the Sooners.

Jones displays great movement in the pocket and uses excellent athleticism to make plays out of structure to find teammates downfield. He’s a legitimate dual threat and has been asked to run the ball pretty frequently for his high school team.

In addition to Penn State and Oklahoma, Jones is considering Cincinnati and West Virginia. He also holds offers from Tennessee, Louisville, Boston College, Maryland, and Kansas.

UNC commit Elliot Cadeau sets another GEICO Nationals record

UNC basketball commit Elliot Cadeau set another GEICO Nationals record during Link Academy’s National Championship win on Sunday.

UNC basketball commit [autotag]Elliot Cadeau[/autotag] had a phenomenal week at GEICO Nationals last week, which included a trophy and some individual records.

Cadeau and Link Academy (MO) took down AZ Compass Prep, 73-55, to win the National Championship. Link finished the season 27-1 overall.

Cadeau struggled with foul trouble and sat the majority of the fourth quarter but finished with 11 points, three rebounds, five assists and zero turnovers.

His five assists gave him 29 for the tournament, setting a GEICO Nationals record for assists. Earlier this week, Cadeau set the tournament single-game record with 14 assists over Paul VI.

Right now, the five-star point guard is in the class of 2024 — but the option remains open to move to the 2023 recruiting class.

He addressed that possibility with a simple; “As of now, 2024 I’ll see you guys in Chapel Hill.”

North Carolina currently has two commits in the 2023 class while Cadeau is part of a four-man class in 2024. The Tar Heels have the top class in the country in 2024.

If he did join 2023, he would be part of a three-man high school class that includes four-stars Simeon Wilcher and Zayden High. The Tar Heels also received a transfer commitment from Brown wing Paxson Wojcik.

Cadeau is ranked No. 11 overall player in the 247Sports rankings. He is listed as the No. 2 point guard.

2025 4-star OT Mason Short makes commitment

Four-star in-state offensive tackle Mason Short has committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide

Four-star class of 2025 offensive tackle recruit Mason Short has committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide.

The Georgia Bulldogs offered a scholarship to the massive in-state offensive tackle in April 2022 and were in the mix for Short. The 6-foot-7, 290-pound offensive lineman is ranked as the No. 70 player in the class of 2025. Short is considered the No. 6 offensive tackle and the No. 8 player in Georgia.

The four-star has an upcoming visit planned to Alabama on April 15. He recently visited Florida State and Florida.

Short plays high school football for Evans High School in Evans, Georgia. Short is a member of the class of 2025 and is a sophomore.

Nick Saban and Alabama have commitments from two recruits in the class of 2025. The Crimson Tide have the second-ranked class of 2025 in the country behind the Georgia Bulldogs. It is still very early in the process for the 2025 recruiting cycle.

2025 4-Star CB Shamar Arnoux and Texas A&M target announces his commitment date

2025 4-star CB and Texas A&M recruiting target Shemar Arnoux has announced his commitment date.

The 2025 recruiting cycle is still in its very early stages, but when talented prospects like 4-star cornerback and Alpharetta, Georgia native Shamar Arnoux are in the final stages of their recruiting process, landing one of the top defensive back prospects in any class is worth celebrating towards the future.

the Aggies offered Arnoux on Tuesday, March 28th, and landed in his Top 8 program list the same day, placed among the likes of Arkansas, Auburn, Michigan, Tennessee, Florida State, Ole Miss, and LSU.

As a Milton High School teammate of current 2024 Aggie commits, four-star wide receiver Debron Gatling, it’s no surprise that Texas A&M isn’t at least a potential option, and we’ll now know very soon where Arnoux will end up two seasons from now after revealing his commitment date, set for Friday, April 7th.

During his 2022 sophomore season at Milton, Arnoux recorded 26 tackles and 4 pass breakups while mostly playing on the boundary, but has the size at 6-1 and 175 lbs combined with the speed to move in the slot when needed.

Badgers in contact with Eastern Washington transfer

The Badgers have been on contact with Steele Venters, a 6-foot-7 guard from Eastern Washington after he entered the transfer portal.

The Badgers have been in contact with Steele Venters, a 6-foot-7 guard from Eastern Washington after he entered the transfer portal a few days ago. Venters is looking for a new opportunity after spending the first three years of his collegiate career with the Eagles.

Venters saw his role expand with Eastern Washington over the last two years, most recently averaging 15.3 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists over 31.4 minutes per game while playing in 34 contests in 2022-2023.

With the Badgers losing Jordan Davis (transfer portal) and potentially Tyler Wahl ahead of the 2023-2024 campaign, Greg Gard could certainly use a wing option like Venters next season.

Overall, Wisconsin has remained very active on the transfer portal so far this offseason, at least when it comes to contacting available players.
