New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll gave Coach Prime a recruiting tip at the NFL Honors

Per ESPN, Coach Prime was given a recruiting tip by New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll

The Colorado Buffaloes have taken the recruiting world by storm since head coach Deion Sanders was hired in December. CU has shot up the rankings across every recruiting website as a constant line of transfers and high school all-stars all want to be a part of what Coach Prime is building in Boulder.

ESPN took notice as Adam Rittenberg and Kyle Bonagura took stock of Coach Prime’s first 100 days at Colorado. It’s hard not to notice what Sanders has done in the way of recruiting in that short of a time frame. CU has stocked up on top-end talent from the transfer portal and the high school ranks in Travis Hunter, Cormani McClain, Dylan Edwards, Adam Hopkins, Omarion Miller, Jimmy Horn Jr. and Seydou Traore, to name a few commits.

People outside of Boulder are even offering help to Coach Prime, including New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll (h/t ESPN):

At the NFL Honors ceremony during Super Bowl week, Sanders presented the AP Coach of the Year award to the New York Giants’ Brian Daboll while wearing a black suit and a gold pocket square, CU colors. As Sanders exited the stage, Daboll told him about a player he should consider at Colorado. Sanders immediately got Daboll on the phone with his chief of recruiting.

“That doesn’t just mean that he respects me, and he would love for this kid to play for me,” Sanders said. “You know how much noise we’ve got to be making right now, for that gentleman, as we’re walking off the stage, saying, ‘I’ve got a dawg for you.’

“I said, ‘I ain’t hard to find, Coach.'”

Alabama QB commit Julian Sayin selected for Elite 11 finals

Alabama QB Julian Sayin earns selection for Elite 11 finals!

Class of 2024 quarterback commitment Julian Sayin was selected for the Elite 11 finals on Sunday. The announcement came directly after Sayin delivered the top performance at the first regional event of the year on Sunday.

Sayin was named the “Alpha Dog” according to 247Sports following his performance in the Los Angeles regional.

Sayin, a five-star prospect from the state of California, is considered one of the top quarterbacks in the class of 2024 and some scouts view him as the most complete passer in the entire class.

Sayin committed to Nick Saban and Alabama back in November of 2022 and has since made several trips back to Tuscaloosa to enjoy the campus.

Oklahoma Sooners receive flurry of predictions to land 2024 4-star safety Jaydan Hardy

The Oklahoma Sooners look to be trending toward a commitment from 2024 four-star safety Jaydan Hardy.

Oklahoma’s recruiting weekend has already paid huge dividends with the 2024 class. The Sooners received a commitment from four-star cornerback Jeremiah Newcombe and are gaining momentum for another four-star defensive back.

The Sooners appear trending toward a commitment for 2024 four-star safety Jaydan Hardy.

Hardy, a safety out of Lewisville, Texas, is the No. 13 safety in the 247Sports composite and ranks No. 159 in the nation. He’s the No. 29 player in the state of Texas. Rivals and ESPN also list Hardy as a four-star prospect in the cycle.

After he visited Norman, the Sooners received a trio of crystal ball predictions from 247Sports and a projection from On3.

247Sports director of national recruiting Steve Wiltfong issued a crystal ball prediction on Saturday afternoon. OUInsiders at 247Sports, Parker Thune and Brandon Drumm, followed suit later in the day with their own crystal ball predictions.

Getting in on the action on Sunday was On3’s Sam Spiegelman, who issued his prediction Sunday evening.

Similarly to the recruitment of Jeremiah Newcombe and 2025 quarterback Kevin Sperry, the many predictions in such a short amount of time should bode well for the Oklahoma Sooners.

Hardy is a dynamic two-way player that will help whichever team he plays for on special teams as well. He has the athleticism to play all over the back end of the secondary.

After landing seven defensive backs in the class of 2023, Jay Valai and Brandon Hall have kept the momentum going as the Sooners look to rebuild and retool their secondary. With a commitment from Newcombe in hand, the Sooners turn their attention to closing on [autotag]Jaydan Hardy[/autotag] and fellow 2024 defensive back [autotag]Aaron Flowers[/autotag].

Sooners building positive momentum with 2025 WR Gracen Harris

Oklahoma Sooners earn a Rivals FutureCast for 2025 WR Gracen Harris after time spent in Norman for “Future Freaks” weekend.

Oklahoma hosted a slew of prospects from the 2025 class this weekend. That class was the biggest in attendance. Oklahoma is set on building its 2024 class, and those commitments should start rolling in sooner rather than later after Jeremiah Newcombe broke the ice.

Wide receivers coach Emmett Jones has put in an incredible amount of work in a limited amount of time since being hired earlier this year.

He has a budding bond with 2025 receiver [autotag]Gracen Harris[/autotag]. Harris is a 5-foot-10 playmaker out of Ennis, Texas, and Josh McCuiston of SoonerScoop.com and Rivals locked in a FutureCast for the receiver to commit to the Oklahoma Sooners.

The projection is now the second one in Oklahoma’s favor for Harris after Parker Thune of OUInsider locked in a crystal ball favoring the Sooners in January.

As a sophomore, Harris earned a first-team selection in Texas District 5-5A at inside WR. His natural college position also profiles in the slot as well. Oklahoma has no receivers committed for the class of 2025, but Harris looks to potentially be the first to hop on the boat if the Sooners continue to apply the pressure in pursuit of him.

Baylor, Mississippi State, and Florida State are other notable schools pushing for Harris.

Oklahoma Sooners receive a crystal ball for 2024 OT Kaedin Massey

After their big recruiting weekend, Oklahoma received a crystal ball for 2024 three-star offensive lineman Kaedin Massey.

Oklahoma’s “Future Freaks” day has the Sooners buzzing with over 60 prospects across the 2024, 2025, 2026, and 2027 classes.

It was a wildly successful recruiting event based on the pulse of social media. Oklahoma earned a commitment from four-star CB Jeremiah Newcombe Saturday evening. Three other prospects received crystal balls favoring the Oklahoma Sooners, including one for five-star tight end Davon Mitchell.

One of those prospects was three-star offensive lineman Kaedin Massey, a 2024 tackle prospect from Kansas. Massey is a massive young man standing at 6-foot-7 and 270 pounds. His athleticism stands out on tape, and he fits the mold of a traditional Bill Bedebaugh offensive line recruit.

Massey intends to be committed by summertime, so it makes sense that his recruitment seems to be nearing its end. Recruiting insiders are starting to get a feel for where he might land. In this case, OUInsider’s Parker Thune issued the crystal ball predicting Massey to the Oklahoma Sooners.

Other schools with regional ties, like Kansas State, Kansas, and Nebraska are recruiting Massey. Duke is also in on the Sooners’ target as well.

The three-star prospect competes in track and field and on the basketball court.

As it stands, Oklahoma’s time spent with Massey over the weekend may have moved them to the front of the line. With a summer commitment imminent, look for the Sooners to apply a full-court press to set themselves apart and land Massey’s commitment.

Recruits react on social media to time spent in Norman with the Sooners

How did recruits react on social media to their time spent with the Oklahoma Sooners?

The Oklahoma Sooners hosted a number of prospects across the next few recruiting cycles. This week’s recruiting events have already yielded a commitment with the pledge from Jeremiah Newcombe to the Sooners 2024 class.

These weekends are about furthering recruiting pitches for prospects the Sooners have been recruiting for some time. Additionally, the recruiting events help build relationships with prospects they’re just beginning to recruit as well.

While much of the focus was on the 2024 and 2025 classes, the Sooners looked deep into the future and welcomed 2026 and 2027 prospects as well.

As we do after each of these major recruiting weekends, here’s a look at what some of the prospects had to say after their time in Norman.

Four-star Josiah Thompson sets commitment date

Four-star offensive tackle recruit Josiah Thompson has Georgia in his top schools. Where is he favored to commit?

Talented offensive tackle recruit Josiah Thompson is ready to decide where he will play college football. Thompson intends to decide from among his top six schools. Thompson is the second-ranked recruit in South Carolina and the No. 5 offensive tackle in the country.

Thompson, who is ranked as a four-star recruit in the class of 2024, considers South Carolina, Miami, Clemson, Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee to be his top schools. He already knows where he will commit and plans to make his decision on April 11.

The Georgia Bulldogs football program extended a scholarship offer to Thompson in June 2022. Georgia has won back-to-back national championships thanks in large part to excellent offensive line play.

Thompson plays high school football for Dillon High School in Dillon, South Carolina. The 6-foot-6, 280-pound offensive tackle is favored to commit to the South Carolina Gamecocks, according to 247Sports.

Jeff Blake-USA TODAY Sports

Shane Beamer and South Carolina are off to a strong start recruiting in the class of 2024. The Gamecocks have the No. 6 recruiting class in the country and have commitments from five four-star recruits. However, South Carolina trails Georgia, which has the nation’s top class of 2024.

Georgia recently signed four-star offensive tackle Monroe Freeling, who is considered the top class of 2023 recruit in South Carolina.

Thompson is a great student. He holds scholarship offers from top college football programs Tennessee, Oklahoma, Clemson, Texas A&M, North Carolina and many more. Josiah Thompson has committed to playing in the 2024 All-American Bowl on NBC.

On tape, Thompson exhibits impressive mobility and quickness. In Thompson’s sophomore film, he really does a good job of blocking in space. The left tackle shows great flexibility and bend. He projects as an excellent pass blocker at the next level.

Josiah Thompson announced his top schools via Twitter on Jan. 10:

LSU hosts elite five-star 2025 quarterback for weekend visit

The Tigers will hope they can make a strong impression on Brentwood Academy (Tenn.) passer George MacIntyre.

Even with a solid quarterback outlook in the coming years, you can never neglect to add talent at the position, which has become even more crucial in the transfer portal era.

With that in mind, LSU is targeting several of the top signal-callers in the 2025 cycle, and it hosted one of them on campus this weekend in five-star Brentwood Academy (Tenn.) prospect [autotag]George MacIntyre[/autotag].

The 6-foot-5 prospect ranks as the No. 30 overall player in the 2025 class, per the 247Sports Composite, and he’s the No. 3 quarterback. He picked up an offer from LSU on March 10, one of several recent big-time offers he’s landed.

In addition to the three scholarship quarterbacks currently on the roster — [autotag]Jayden Daniels[/autotag], [autotag]Garrett Nussmeier[/autotag] and [autotag]Rickie Collins[/autotag] — LSU also has a commitment from 2024 blue-chip passer [autotag]Colin Hurley[/autotag], who reclassified from 2025.

With some attrition between now and MacIntyre’s signing all but inevitable, LSU will look to add another quarterback in that class, and MacIntyre would be an elite option.
