New England Patriots vs Pittsburgh Steelers Game Preview

Why Pittsburgh Steelers Will Win

Didn’t you used to be the New England offense?

It’s not like the Miami defense is anything that special, but the Patriots weren’t able to do much of anything against it in the 20-7 loss.

There wasn’t any running game to speak of, the passing game didn’t go anywhere, and the dry game was just about over at halftime.

If Pittsburgh could survive 338 passing yards from Joe Burrow and survive …

As long as the Steelers can keep forcing takeaways, and as long as the defensive pressure that got to Burrow seven times and keep rolling, there shouldn’t be any worries about getting hit with anything deep.

However …

Week 2 CFN NFL Expert Picks

Why New England Patriots Will Win

It’s not like the Pittsburgh offense did much of anything.

Chase Claypool – not Najee Harris – was the team’s leading rusher against the Bengals, and now Harris is hobbling.

New England doesn’t need to come up with a high-octane attack in this. All it has to do is not be -5 in turnover margin like Cincinnati was and everything else should work out.

The offense needs to take advantage of its opportunities, it needs to win third downs on defense, and it has to expect Mitchell Trubisky to struggle to keep the chains moving.

It starts with …

Week 2 NFL Schedule, Predictions, Game Previews

What’s Going To Happen

Mac Jones has to be okay.

He’s going to play, but he was hurting after the Miami game and might be struggling through a back injury. The running game should help the cause, the defense will do its part to keep Harris from getting going, and it’ll be an ugly win in every possible way.

New England will take it.

Pittsburgh Steelers vs Cincinnati Bengals Game Preview

Why Pittsburgh Steelers Will Win

The Steelers have the weapons now to keep up if this gets into any sort of a shootout.

The offensive line is still a major question mark, and everyone will keep dogging Mitchell Trubisky until Kenny Pickett is ready, but Najee Harris is a special running back, the receiving corps is loaded with young talent, and the potential is there to keep up once the Cincinnati machine gets going.

The Bengals have upgraded in several areas, but can they slow down the better passing teams? Trubisky isn’t exactly Tom Brady, but he might go off on a secondary that has to prove it can hold up a bit better.

Week 1 CFN NFL Expert Picks

Why Cincinnati Bengals Will Win

You mean besides Trubisky being the starting quarterback on the other side?

Pittsburgh still has a very, very questionable offensive front, and Cincinnati fixed the glitch. The O line that almost got Joe Burrow killed was upgraded, and that’s all he needs.

Yeah, Pittsburgh has the skill parts to make this a shootout, but they don’t have the Cincinnati receivers. Even if this isn’t an offensive show, the Bengals were able to beat the Steelers twice last season without the O going off.

Week 1 NFL Schedule, Predictions, Game Previews

What’s Going To Happen

The Steelers managed just ten points in both games against Cincinnati last year – they’ll get that in the first quarter. It won’t be nearly enough.

Burrow and the Bengal offense will struggle early, and then the running game will kick in. Joe Mixon will be the star for three quarters, and then the Cincinnati receiving corps will rise and shine.

WATCH: Kenny Pickett throws game-winning TD in final seconds of preseason debut

Pittsburgh Steelers first-round pick Kenny Pickett ended his NFL preseason debut with a game-winning score in the final moments

It’s only preseason, but when your rookie quarterback throws a game-winning touchdown in the final seconds, it’s still something to celebrate.

That’s what happened to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Saturday night’s preseason opener against the Seattle Seahawks, as Kenny Pickett made sure his team wouldn’t need a field goal at the buzzer to break a 25-25 tie.

Pickett found wide receiver Tyler Vaughns near the sideline, and the former USC pass-catcher did the rest, making a defender miss and diving into the end zone for the score.

The No. 20 overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft, Pickett played his college ball for the Pitt Panthers, so he’s used to celebrating big wins in the same stadium.

NFL Letdown Games for Every Team

What are the potential letdown games for every NFL team? They’re the battles that should be a problem.

What games are the ones each NFL team has to look out for? It’s a LONG season with plenty of lulls, so which games are set up to be a letdown moment for every team?

Predicting each outcome takes into account location, scheduling fatigue, matchup intensity, and much more. These are the games – including the sandwich battles between two giant opponents – that each team should probably win, but might have issues.

Traditionally and statistically, Day 3 of the NFL Draft is a total wasteland. You’re far, far better packaging your picks to move up into the top three rounds of a future draft – the odds of getting a consistently decent starter are shockingly small.

But every team thinks it can make magic out of the Day 3 mess of prospects, and it’s worth a shot to dumb-luck into a possible mainstay. What are the remaining needs that need to be filled for each team? Here are every team’s picks so far with the possibilities of who they could get.

Of course this all blows up once the trades start flying, but the idea is to give a rough snapshot of what each team might be able to do.

Najee Harris shows off pass-catching prowess vs. Bengals

Pittsburgh Steelers rookie running back Najee Harris caught 14 passes in Sunday’s Week 3 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals

Every NFL team would love to have a running back with the three-down skill set and rare combination of size and athleticism that Najee Harris brings to the table.

That’s why the Pittsburgh Steelers made him the No. 24 overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft, and he’s already showing off the same pass-catching skills he displayed throughout his time at Alabama.

Despite a loss Sunday to the Cincinnati Bengals, Harris led both teams with a whopping 14 receptions for 104 yards, to go along with his 40 yards on the ground.

Harris is big and physical, but he’s got all the skills to be a reliable pass-catcher out of the backfield, especially for an aging quarterback who is struggling to get the ball down the field.
