The Pittsburgh Steelers had seen enough of Mitch Trubisky as their starting quarterback Sunday, replacing him halfway through the game with rookie first-round pick Kenny Pickett.
Apparently, the Steelers liked what they saw enough to stick with Pickett moving forward, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Pickett threw a trio of interceptions in his regular-season debut Sunday, but two of them were deflections, and the other was a Hail Mary attempt at the buzzer. The No. 20 overall pick out of Pitt rushed for a pair of touchdowns, and helped inject some life into Pittsburgh’s struggling offense.
Trubisky was expected to give the Steelers a veteran bridge to Pickett, and it appears they’ve made it to the other side just four weeks into the season.

It took three weeks and some change for the Pittsburgh Steelers to end the Mitch Trubisky era at quarterback.
Early in the third quarter, Trubisky was replaced by rookie first-round pick Kenny Pickett, much to the joy of the home crowd.
On his first drive, Pickett converted a 4th-and-inches with a quarterback sneak, but not long after, his first career pass was a deep ball that got picked off by New York Jets safety Jordan Whitehead.
The interception is disappointing, but the Steelers are still better off rolling with the rookie going forward.

The team has its guy back.
The offense wasn’t all that bad with Joe Flacco under center – the passing game was productive and several parts got involved – but it needs to be the Zach Wilson show for the Jets to take a big leap forward.
Now the offense should look different.
There needs to be more of a running game against a lousy Pittsburgh run defense that’s the getting hammered on. Breece Hall needs the ball more, Wilson has to get it to his speedy targets on the move, and now the team needs to take off.
But …
Is Wilson going to be rusty?
Pittsburgh needs takeaways, and that’s been a bit of a problem over the last few weeks after coming up with five in the win over Cincinnati.
Yeah, the Steeler run defense hasn’t been anything good, but the pass rush should be okay, the offense should move on a Jet defense that’s awful on third downs, and as long as the O can capitalize on mistakes, everything should be okay.

Slow and steady will win the race.
Pittsburgh won’t be anything pretty, but it’ll come up with three takeaways, Najee Harris and the running game will be solid, and it’ll be a mucked up win. After the last few weeks, the team will take it.

Can the Browns really get by with Jacoby Brissett?
He hasn’t been all that bad, and the great Cleveland running game has been able to help, but the downfield passing attack isn’t enough to get excited about and now Brissett has to deal with the Pittsburgh pass rush.
The Steelers are helping out their sleepy offense with a slew of big defensive plays, there’s a running game in there somewhere if Najee Harris can ever get a little room to run, and there’s the control factor.
The Browns might be doing more on the ground, but Pittsburgh has a way so far of grinding things down to a stop. Cincinnati moved the ball well, and so did New England. Both games were tight late.
However …
Can the Browns really get by with Jacoby Brissett?
Apparently, yeah. There’s no problem.
He doesn’t have to light it up, but he’s doing a great job of moving the chains – the Browns lead the NFL in first downs – with the offensive line getting the job done for Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt.
And then there’s the downfield passing side of the attack. Cleveland isn’t getting a whole lot of that out of Brissett, but Pittsburgh is getting nothing out of Mitchell Trubisky.
The Steelers don’t run a whole lot of plays. They don’t connect, they need takeaways to make things happen, and Cleveland isn’t likely to help with just one turnover so far.

Pittsburgh’s defense has a way of being a differentiating factor no matter what, but the offense just can’t get going.
Granted, if Joe Flacco could look like Patrick Mahomes against the Cleveland defense anything is possible – the Jets won last week 31-30 – but the offensive side isn’t going to give up the big mistakes for the struggling Steeler O to pull this out late.
