The many 2019 player disappointments for the Cardinals

There some bright spots, but there were nearly a dozen players who didn’t work out the way they were expected to.

David Johnson

Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

What happened to Johnson is one of the biggest mysteries of 2019. He was playing particularly well to start the season, especially in the running game, but was No. 10 in the league in yards from scrimmage after six weeks. He got hurt, came back and fumbled against the Tampa Bay Bucs and was not trusted again. Kenyan Drake came in after he was acquired and was very good. Johnson was supposed to be the focal point of the offense and finished as an afterthought.
