Watch: five-star RB Zach Evans has impressive highlights

Zach Evans is an elite five-star RB in the class of 2020. Evans played football at North Shore High School and is interested in UGA.

Zach Evans is an elite five-star running back in the class of 2020. Evans played football at North Shore High School in Houston, Texas.  Evans was once considered a lock to attend UGA, but he reportedly was released from his LOI. He’s now considering a multitude of schools ahead of his signing day.

Fans will know Evans’ decision on signing day. Predictions for Zach Evans next landing spot vary widely, but he’s visited Tennessee, Texas A&M, LSU, and Ole Miss in recent months. Rival’s recruiting director, Mike Farrell, still thinks Evans will end up as a Georgia Bulldog.

These highlights, per Premier Highlights, are from his junior season:

Evans had a stellar senior season, where he rushed for 1,600 yards and 20 touchdowns on a mere 127 carries, with an incredible average of 12.6 yards per carry. In 2018, when he was named MaxPreps’ National Junior of the Year, Evans ran for 1,785 yards and 29 scores. During his elite sophomore season, Evans racked up 1,483 rushing yards and 27 touchdowns. Evan has elite numbers for any high school running back, especially in the state of Texas.

Georgia football hosting a number of elite recruits this weekend

Georgia football has a plethora of big time recruits in Athens this weekend.

Though Georgia football currently has the 3rd ranked recruiting class in the 2020 cycle, Kirby Smart and the Dawgs are not done yet.

With February’s National Signing Day just around the corner, Georgia did a good job of getting some of these big time recruits on campus, including two committed, but unsigned prospects.

Here is a list of the official visitors, according to Matt DeBary of DawgPost.

5-star offensive tackle Broderick Jones is in town. Jones, the nation’s No. 14 overall player and 2nd ranked offensive tackle, is committed to Georgia but has not yet signed. Right now Auburn is Georgia’s threat, and the Lithonia native plans on visiting there next weekend.

Sedrick Van Pran is a 4-star center out of New Orleans and is also currently committed to Georgia but unsigned. Per DawgPost, offensive line coach Matt Luke and wide receivers coach Cortez Hankton visited Van Pran this past week at his home. He is expected to visit Florida next weekend. He is the No. 114 overall player in this class.

4-star offensive tackle Tate Ratledge is a Georgia signee out of Rome, Georgia. The No. 35 overall player in the 2020 class will be doing the best he can to help the Dawgs recruit this weekend.

Another offensive lineman in town is 3-star offensive tackle Austin Blaske, another Georgia signee.

With the Zach Evans recruitment going the way that it is, Georgia is hosting 4-star running back Daijun Edwards‍. Edwards is the No. 254 overall player in the country and comes from Moultrie, Georgia. If Edwards does end up being a Dawg, he would join 5-star back Kendall Milton.

3-star athlete DJ Lundy out of Ocilla, Georgia is in town this weekend as well. Lundy, who plays both linebacker and running back in high school, will likely suit up at linebacker.

Cameron Kinnie is a 3-star defensive tackle out Suwanee, Georgia. The 6-3, 265 pounder is also receiving interest from Iowa State, Syracuse and others.

3-star safety Charles Bell VI  out of Gaithersburg, Maryland is in town and is also receiving strong interest from West Virginia and Syracuse.

What does this tweet from 5-star Georgia football signee mean?

5-star Georgia football signee Kelee Ringo made an interesting tweet this week.

Right now, Georgia is sitting with the No. 3 recruiting class in the country for 2020. With 21 commits, five of which being 5-stars, if this class wrapped up right now the Dawgs would have had a very successful season recruiting wise.

But many think Georgia is not done just yet. There’s talks of the Dawgs still being in the hunt for 5-star running back Zach Evans, who signed with Georgia and then reached an agreement with the school to be released from his National Letter of Intent.

If Evans would have remained signed with Georgia, then the Bulldogs likely would have finished with the No. 1 class.

At least that’s what 5-star Georgia cornerback signee Kelee Ringo said on Twitter this week in response to Mike Farrell, the National Recruiting Director at Rivals, tweeting about how Clemson currently holds that No. 1 spot.

“Watch this……and if Zach stayed we would have been #1 easily. It’s coming though,” Ringo tweeted.

What exactly that means I am not sure. Does it prove that Georgia is still in the mix for Evans? Is there another player(s) that Kirby Smart could be going after come February’s signing day?

Is Georgia football still in it? Recruiting Director at Rivals makes Zach Evans prediction

Is Georgia football still in the mix for Zach Evans? Mike Farrell at Rivals thinks so.

Zach Evans, the 5-star running back out of North Shore High School in Houston, Texas, originally signed with Georgia but then later requested that the Bulldogs release him of his National Letter of Intent. Georgia did just that.

Evans, who may be the most talented player in the entire 2020 recruiting class, was supposed to announce his decision at the Under Armour game before backing out and delaying his recruitment.

Now, however, Georgia appears to be back in the fold for Evans.

Despite already signing with UGA and then being released from his NLI, some recruiting expert still think the superstar tailback will end up at Georgia when the dust settles.

Another name to keep an eye on is Broderick Jones, a 5-star offensive lineman who has been committed to Georgia for quite some time. He has not signed with the Dawgs, though, and Auburn has been making a strong push for the 6’6″ 300 pounder out of Lithonia, Georgia.

When asked to make a prediction on where these unsigned five-star players will go, Rivals.com’s National Recruiting Director Mike Farrell said he still thinks that both Evans and Jones will be heading to Georgia.

“Evans will end up at Georgia, Jones will also end up at Georgia.”

Evans is believed to be visiting Knoxville this weekend, according to Farrell. Ole Miss and Florida are in the mix as well.

At North Shore in Houston, Evans had another stellar season as a senior, rushing for 1,600 yards and 20 touchdowns on just 127 carries, with an average of 12.6 yards per carry. In 2018, when he was named MaxPreps’ National Junior of the Year, Evans tallied 1,785 rushing yards and 29 scores. His sophomore season,  Evans racked up 1,483 rushing yards and 27 touchdowns.

5-star RB Zach Evans hints on where he’ll be playing

The number one running back recruit in the country, Zachary Evans has just hinted at where he will be signing, Georgia football.

The #1 running back recruit in the country has just hinted at where he will be signing.

5-star RB recruit Zachary Evans out of Houston, Texas is set to announce where he will be playing at the Under Armor All-America high school all-star game on January 2nd.

Evans was interviewed by reporter Bud Elliott about his recruitment and where he is considering signing.  He told Elliott that he had it narrowed down to three schools.  Alabama, LSU and Georgia.

Evans didn’t just tell Elliott his top three, but also gave a massive hint at which would be the lucky winner.

“One of their backs just played in the super bowl as a freshman. That’s a hint,” said Evans to Elliott.

Sony Michel, the Dawgs former running back, just won a Super Bowl with the New England Patriots last year, scoring the only touchdown in that game.

If what we hear is true, Dawgs fans can expect Evans to announce he will be signing with Georgia come Jan. 2.

Evans would be joining the #6 RB recruit in the nation, Kendall Milton, who has already signed with the Bulldogs.

RBU is all about the next man up, and it looks like the Kirby Smart and the Dawgs have secured the most elite RB class of the year.  Big things ahead for Georgia football.

Will Georgia finish with the No. 1 recruiting class?

These five star prospects can still get Georgia football to the No. 1 spot in the recruiting rankings.

With two 5-stars, 14 4-stars and three 3-stars, Georgia currently has the No. 4 recruiting class in the 2020 cycle.

After early signing day came and went, Georgia fans were pleased with the No. 4 class but still felt like there were some pieces missing.

That’s because of the high expectations that Kirby Smart has set during his time at Georgia, routinely landing top-three recruiting classes.

But then three names emerged as Georgia leans that have either silently signed or intend to do so during February’s signing day.

Georgia still has a great chance to land these three 5-star prospects, which could very well catapult the Dawgs to No. 1 in the rankings.

There’s running back Zach Evans, who is trending heavily to the Bulldogs.

Evans is a 5-star back out of Houston, Texas who ranks as the nation’s No. 14 overall prospect and No. 1 ball carrier in the 2020 class. 63% of 247Sports’ Crystal Ball predictions say Georgia.

If Evans does wind up a Bulldog, he will form a tandem with Kendall Milton,  another top back who ranks as the No. 6 player at the position.

“Evans is expected to commit on air during an all-star game,” wrote Dean Legge of DawgPost.

Darnell Washington is another name to keep an eye on.

He is a 5-star out of Las Vegas who is listed as an athlete but will play tight end in college. Currently, Georgia is the heavy favorite to land Washington, the No. 10 overall player in the country and No. 1 ranked athlete.

Tight end is a position that Georgia needs to fill before this class is wrapped up. As of now Georgia has no tight ends committed or signed to the program.

Washington is a 6-foot-7, 261 pound beast that will be a matchup nightmare at the collegiate level.

He is expected to announce his decision on January 2nd at the Under Armour All-America Game.

Kelee Ringo is a 5-star cornerback out of Scottsdale, Arizona and is currently another heavy Georgia lean. He plans to announce at the All-American Bowl on January 4th and it is not known whether or not he has already signed with a program. Ringo is the No. 8 overall player, No. 1 cornerback and No. 1 overall recruit in the state of Arizona.

Right now, Georgia has one cornerback signed for 2020, 4-star Jalen Kimber who ranks as the No. 127 player in the class.

Ringo is a player that will likely start from day one wherever he goes.

We mentioned 5-star defensive end Jordan Burch today as well. The No. 5 overall player out of Columbia, South Carolina committed to the Gamecocks on early signing day but has not actually signed yet.

His high school coach said that Burch wants to wait and sign with his teammates, however, since he is not signed yet that means Georgia can still contact him until he does. He’s a name to keep an aye on but I would not get too excited just yet.
