Browns make three roster moves on the eve of Ravens game

The Browns have activated Wyatt Teller among three roster moves made on the eve of their matchup against the Ravens.

The Cleveland Browns have made three roster moves as they get set to take on the Baltimore Ravens in just over 24 hours.

According to Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot, the Browns have activated guard Wyatt Teller from injured reserve. Additionally, Cleveland waived cornerback Kahlef Hailassie and elevated receiver Jaelon Darden to the active roster from the practice squad.

Teller has been out since sustaining a knee injury in Week 3. In his absence, third-rounder Zak Zinter and Michael Dunn have stepped in at right guard. The Browns rank 29th in rushing yards per game and 28th in pressure rate this season, so Teller’s return is welcome for a unit that desperately needs improvement.

Offensive line changes will continue, however, as left tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. is out for Week 8, and Dawand Jones is preparing to make his first career start on that side in his place.

Running back Nick Chubb and Teller have been key staples in the Browns’ run game over the last few years, which bodes well for an improved ground game ahead of quarterback Jameis Winston’s first start of the season.

One starting offensive lineman could make his return vs. Ravens

Wyatt Teller has been designated for return from Injured Reserve

The Cleveland Browns have designated starting right guard Wyatt Teller to return to practice.

Teller last played for the Browns in Week 3 against the New York Giants when he injured his knee and was then placed on Injured Reserve. At the time, he was one of the only active Browns offensive linemen the team could rely on to protect the pocket.

After missing his mandatory four games, he now returns to practice and can be a huge help to the rushing attack and the protection of now-starting Quarterback Jameis Winston.

This move comes after a tough loss against the state-rival Cincinnati Bengals, where the offensive line could’ve used his support. The Browns’ top-two quarterbacks were injured in the Week 7 matchup and would’ve possibly benefited from a bolstered offensive line. Nick Chubb and the rest of the running back room could’ve also used his protection after failing to find an opening in the Bengals’ defense.

3 RGs Seahawks should consider trading for before NFL trade deadline

3 RGs Seahawks should consider trading for before NFL trade deadline

The right guard position has been a constant thorn in the Seattle Seahawks’ backside. Regular starter Anthony Bradford has routinely struggled, posting a pass-blocking grade of 46.9, according to Pro Football Focus. Bradford has also been whistled for a league-high seven penalties this season.

Bradford’s struggles led the Seahawks to rotate rookie guard Christian Haynes into the lineup during the Week 4 contest versus the Detroit Lions. Bradford handled 54 snaps while Haynes, who performed better, earned 36 snaps. The Seahawks may employ a similar strategy against the New York Giants in Week 5.

The NFL trade deadline is approximately one month away (November 4). The 3-1 Seahawks are legitimate contenders. General manager John Schneider should consider acquiring a right guard via trade. We’ve identified three potential options.

Daniel Brunskill, Tennessee Titans

Daniel Brunskill started at right guard for the Tennessee Titans last season. He put forth better results than what Bradford and Haynes are providing, being whistled for just one penalty all year long. Brunskill was credited with allowing just two sacks via 768 total snaps by Pro Football Focus, earning a stellar pass-blocking grade of 67.7.

Tennessee’s new coaching staff decided to bench Brunskill this campaign, inserting a bigger-bodied player (Dillon Radunz) into his spot in the starting lineup. Brunskill is slightly undersized, but he put together a solid season at right guard in 2023. He’s in a contract year and could be available for very cheap as the Titans are a rebuilding 1-3.

Wyatt Teller, Cleveland Browns

The struggling 1-3 Cleveland Browns recently placed veteran right guard Wyatt Teller on IR, but he’s eligible to be activated roughly one week prior to the trade deadline (October 27). Rookie guard Zak Zinter is starting in Teller’s place. The rebuilding Browns should consider giving the much younger Zinter an extended look.

Teller remains under contract through 2025, carrying manageable cap charges of $11.6 million and $14.4 million this campaign and next, according to OverTheCap. Teller’s contract is complicated, because it also contains a void year (2026). The proven veteran could land on the trading block if the Browns continue falling behind in the postseason race.

Cody Whitehair, Las Vegas Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders are preparing to trade superstar wide receiver Davante Adams. This could incite general manager Tom Telesco to hold a fire sale at the trade deadline. The Raiders must stack as much draft capital as possible heading into the 2025 NFL Draft.

Whitehair has started for the Raiders this season, but they also possess a young duo at guard on the roster in Jackson Powers-Johnson and Dylan Parham. Powers-Johnson should soon permanently replace Whitehair at guard. The 2016 draftee would add experience to the Seahawks’ offensive line.

Browns place Pro Bowl guard on Injured Reserve; out at least 4 weeks

The Browns have lost another starting offensive lineman.

Taking another massive injury blow, the Cleveland Browns have placed right guard Wyatt Teller on Injured Reserve. This means that the three-time Pro Bowler must miss at least be sidelined for at least four weeks.

Teller left Sunday’s dismal offensive showing against the New York Giants with a knee injury after a field goal attempt in the second half. The Browns brought out the cart for him, but Teller opted to walk to the locker room under his own power.

The starting right guard for the Browns was diagnosed with a Grade 2 MCL sprain as a result of his MRI on Monday. The report was he could miss up to four weeks, and now Teller must miss at least four weeks after being placed on IR.

After his exit, rookie third round guard Zak Zinter took over duties at right guard. Expect the rookie to start the rest of the way out until Teller returns to the lineup from this knee injury.

Another Browns starting offensive lineman may head to IR

And around, and around, and around, and around, and around…

(This story was updated to add new information.)

The Cleveland Browns lost more than just the football game to the New York Giants on Sunday. Offensive guard Wyatt Teller left the game with a knee injury among a flurry of players who headed to the MRI room.

Now, head coach Kevin Stefanksi has told the media that his veteran player will miss “multiple weeks” with his knee injury. The head coach did not rule the veteran guard out as a candidate to hit Injured Reserve, which would sideline Teller for at least four weeks.

After Teller went down, rookie Zak Zinter replaced him at right tackle. Teller was not the only offensive lineman to exit either as Jedrick Wills left the field of play in his first game back since Week 9 of the 2023 season.

By the end of the game, left guard Joel Bitonio was playing left tackle, center Ethan Pocic playing left guard, and backup center Nick Harris entering the game.

It is getting ugly up front for the Browns.

UPDATED: Teller has been diagnosed with a Grade 2 MCL Sprain and is expected to miss four weeks (According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo).

The MRI machine is getting a workout in Berea

The MRI machine might overheat…

The Cleveland Browns are doing their best Oprah impersonation: “You get an MRI! You get an MRI! You get an MRI!”

After their loss to the New York Giants in monumentally disappointing fashion, head coach Kevin Stefanski announced that a flurry of key players would be set for further testing on injuries. Chief among them? Reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett.

Garrett, who played through two foot injuries, also injured his groin in this game against the Giants. While the perennial All-Pro wants to play through the pain, it may be getting to much to bear for him.

He was not the only one, however. Three offensive linemen who have started games for the Browns this year will also get an MRI on Monday. Left tackle Jedrick Wills, who was playing well in his first game back this season, left the game after getting buckled under a Giants’ player. Wyatt Teller was also ruled out with a knee injury, and James Hudson III (even the swing tackle!) left with a shoulder injury that needs more testing.

Coming off of a year with extremely bad injury luck, the fortunes have not turned in the favor of the Browns. Hopefully the flurry of MRIs reveal nothing serious.

RG Wyatt Teller ruled out of Giants game with knee injury

Cleveland Browns offensive guard Wyatt Teller exited the game against the New York Giants with a knee injury.

Cleveland Browns offensive guard Wyatt Teller exited the game against the New York Giants with a knee injury. Teller headed to the medical tent after the start of the second half. Teller was slow to get up after Dustin Hopkins’ missed field goal attempt. Teller was able to jog to the sideline once he got up. Teller has been ruled out with a knee injury.

Third-round pick Zak Zinter replaced Teller on the field. Zinter has played in jumbo personnel this season, but this will be his first time at guard. The Browns desperately need offensive line help against the Giants. The Giants defense have pressured the Browns offense all game. The Browns have not generated any offense against the Giants because of it.

The Cleveland Browns are currently losing to the New York Giants 7-21. The Browns are still in the game, but time is quickly running out for them.

Wyatt Teller has a message for Browns fans after Cowboys loss

The sky is not falling for Wyatt Teller

The Cleveland Browns were anything but pretty in their regular season opener against the Dallas Cowboys. After not playing together much in training camp or at all in the preseason, it is clear the starters have some rust to shake off. The team has a very tough start to the regular season and will need to bounce back quickly, but starting right guard and fan favorite Wyatt Teller is asking everyone to take a deep breath.

Wyatt Teller expressed his feelings in a postgame interview on Sunday evening. “Calm down. It sucks I hate losing but calm down, it’s okay,” said Teller. The injuries to both starting tackles Jedrick Wills and Jack Conklin did not offer any support for Teller or the rest of his offensive line. Even against a very strong Dallas pass rush, he did not find that to be any excuse for their performance.

The Browns are hoping to have both Jack Conklin and Jedrick Wills back for next Sunday’s game against the Jaguars, though it is unclear who will start yet. While many fans have overreacted to the Browns’ opening performance, Teller is here to remind everyone that the confidence remains strong in the locker room.

Browns Podcast: Cleveland’s interior O-line is one of the NFL’s best

Interior offensive line is a major strength of the Browns

Training camp is finally here, as the Cleveland Browns will report and head for The Greenbrier this week. One position that they don’t have to worry about at all is the interior offensive line. The trio of Ethan Pocic, Joel Bitonio, and Wyatt Teller is as good as it gets in the NFL.

However, it was a bit of a down year for Bitonio, who had a nagging back injury that seemed to limit him for much of the year. But it was probably the best year we have seen from Wyatt Teller since 2020, who was fantastic and back to mauling people in the run game.

The run game wasn’t great at times last year, and the team will need to lean on these big, strong interior guys if they want to fix it in 2024. You can hear more about this great group of guards and centers in the latest episode by clicking here.
