Juan Toscano-Anderson suffers sprained ankle in first minute vs. Clippers

Juan Toscano-Anderson left the game against the Los Angeles Clippers in the first minute with a sprained ankle.

The Golden State Warriors’ long list of injuries grew after tipoff against the Los Angeles Clippers. In the first minute of the game, Juan Toscano Anderson sprained his ankle and did not return.

The Oakland native has played 13 games with Golden State after being signed from the Warriors G League affiliate following the NBA trade deadline.

With injuries hampering Golden State’s roster, Toscano-Anderson has blossomed into a significant contributor for the Warriors. The Marquette product is averaging 5.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 21.3 minutes per contest.

Following the Warriors’ 131-107, Steve Kerr said the Warriors would have an update on Toscano-Anderson’s sprained ankle tomorrow.

Toscano-Anderson joined Stephen Curry (flu), Draymond Green (knee soreness) and Kevon Looney (hip soreness) on the Warriors injury report.

Without Toscano-Anderson, a mix of Dragan Bender and Eric Paschall filled his role against the Clippers. Bender tied his career-high with 23 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the field. The Croatian big-man added seven rebounds and three assists in 25 minutes.

Despite their injury woes, the depleted Warriors will only have one day off before welcoming the Brooklyn Nets to Chase Center in San Francisco on Thursday night.

Report: Warriors ‘very likely’ to soon play in front of no fans due to Coronavirus

A looming decision in San Francisco could leave the Warriors playing in front of no fans due to Coronavirus.

The NBA, along with the NHL, MLS and MLB, have limited locker room access to only players, coaches and essential personnel due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

Leagues cutting back on locker room access could only be the start of precautions against COVID-19. According to The Athletic’s Tim Kawakami, it’s “very likely” the Golden State Warriors could soon be playing games in an empty home arena.

It’s something that the league has been discussing in recent days, and is something that has been contemplated for the better part of the last few weeks. As the number of cases in the United States have increased, municipalities across the country have been taking various precautions to limit public exposure.

Before the Warriors hosted the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday night, head coach Steve Kerr spoke with reporters about the potential of playing games in front of no fans.

Via Chris Alvarez ABC News Bay Area:

Yeah, It’s absolutely a possibility, and I haven’t given it a whole lot of thought. I’ve played on a couple of teams where it felt like that was the case at times. Again we’re in uncharted waters. We will cross that bridge when we come to it.

Due to the Coronavirus outbreak, Santa Clara County has banned public events in which more than 1,000 people are expected to be present. As a result, Golden State’s neighbors — the San Jose Sharks and San Jose Earthquakes — have had to either play games with no fans in attendance or temporarily relocate to new playing grounds.

The Warriors may follow suit.

Due to the outbreak, college campuses in the Bay Area have suspended classes while high schools in San Francisco have canceled events such as playoff basketball tournaments.

The Warriors will welcome the Brooklyn Nets to San Francisco on Thursday, March 12. Following the Nets game, Golden State will begin a five-game road trip. The team will return to Chase Center on March 25 when they play host to the Atlanta Hawks.

Things may be much different by that point.

Injury Report: Steph Curry (flu) expected to make return Thursday vs. Nets

Stephen Curry is expected to make his return from his two-game absence with the flu against the Nets.

After missing four months with a broken hand injury, Stephen Curry made his long-awaited return with 20 games left on the schedule. However, his reunion with the Golden State Warriors was short-lived.

Curry has been ruled out for consecutive games after being diagnosed with the flu before the Warriors contest against the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday. The six-time All-Star returned to Golden State’s morning shootaround on Tuesday, but was still held out against Kawhi Leonard and the Clippers.

Yet, the two-time Most Valuable Player could be ready to return as soon as Golden State’s next game. Steve Kerr spoke to reporters about Curry’s illness before the Warriors tipoff against the Clippers. Golden State’s coach expects Curry to play against the Nets on Thursday.

Via Warriors SoundCloud:

I expect him to play Thursday. He wanted to play tonight, and we wouldn’t let him given that he hadn’t done anything the last three days. This is a good day for him to get a good workout, get some rest tonight and then workout again tomorrow and hopefully, everything goes smoothly and he’ll play Thursday night — that’s the plan.

In Curry’s first game back against the Raptors, the point guard scored 23 points on 6-of-16 shooting in 27 minutes.

If the Davidson product is healthy against the Nets, Curry will have 17 games remaining on the schedule to build chemistry with his new teammates going into the offseason.

Injury Report: Warriors will be without pair of former All-Stars vs the Clippers

Against Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and the Clippers, the Warriors will be without both Draymond Green (knee soreness) and Stephen Curry (flu).

After making his much-anticipated return to the court from a four-month injury absence, the Golden State Warriors will be without Stephen Curry again.

The two-time Most Valuable Player made his way back to the floor against the Toronto Raptors after missing 58 games with a broken hand.

The next game, Curry was ruled out against the Philadelphia 76ers with the flu. Following Golden State’s win against the Sixers, the Warriors’ point guard missed practice over the weekend.

According to Anthony Slater of The Athletic, Curry participated in Golden State’s morning shootaround before the Clippers game.

However, Curry is scheduled to miss his 60th game of the season after being officially ruled out against the Clippers with the flu.

Making things more difficult against Los Angeles, Curry won’t be the only All-Star caliber player out for the Warriors. Draymond Green has been ruled out for his sixth-consecutive game with knee soreness.

Without Green and Curry, Steve Kerr will have to rely on Damion Lee, Eric Paschall and Marquese Chriss against Kawhi Leonard and the Clippers.

Against the Sixers, Lee and Paschall each added 23 or more points, while Chriss recorded a near triple-double with 13 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists.

With Lee taking over point guard, Mychal Mulder started at shooting guard for the Warriors against Philadelphia. The newly signed guard added 18 points on 3-of-7 shooting from beyond the arc.

The depleted edition of the Warriors will need all the help they can get against the second-place team in the Western Conference — winners of six of their last seven.

Injury Report: Draymond Green ruled out vs. Clippers, Stephen Curry questionable

Draymond Green will miss his sixth straight game with knee soreness.

The on-court reunion between Stephen Curry and Draymond Green will have to wait a little longer. Curry has missed 59 games this season with a broken hand injury and an illness. However, when he finally made his long-awaited return, Green took Curry’s spot on the injury report.

The former Defensive Player of the Year will miss his sixth straight game on Tuesday night against the Los Angeles Clippers due to knee soreness.

After being ejected against the Los Angeles Lakers, Green has only played in 10 minutes across the past eight games for Golden State. Before missing time with knee soreness, Green missed two games with a pelvic contusion.

Without Green against the Clippers, the Warriors will rely on Marquese Chriss and Dragan Bender in the frontcourt. Rookie Eric Paschall should be in line for heavy minutes after scoring 20 points or more in three of the past five games.

After missing four months with a broken left hand, Curry made his return against the Toronto Raptors, but immediately hit the injury report by the next game. Curry was ruled out against the Philadelphia 76ers with the flu. Curry missed Golden State’s recent practice with the same illness and is listed as questionable against the Clippers.

Without Curry, Damion Lee tallied 24 points to lead the Warriors to victory against the Sixers. If Golden State’s six-time All-Star can’t go against the Clippers — Lee, along with Jordan Poole and Mychal Mulder, will receive a majority of the minutes in Steve Kerr’s backcourt.

Counting down the 6 most important games left on the schedule in Steph Curry’s return

Although the Warriors are out of the playoff picture, the remaining games left on the schedule will be crucial for Stephen Curry as he returns from an injury that caused him to miss four months of the season.

Most teams at the bottom of the NBA standings are either going through a rebuild or about to start one. Yet, for the Golden State Warriors, things are a bit different.

With 20 games remaining on the season, Curry made his long-awaited return against the Toronto Raptors on Thursday, March 5. The two-time Most Valuable Player recorded 23 points on 6-of-16 shooting with seven assists and six rebounds.

How Curry adjusts to his surgically repaired hand while building chemistry with his new teammates like Andrew Wiggins and Marquese Chriss will give Golden State a glimpse of what their future could look like.

Here are Golden State’s six most important games on the calendar with Curry back in the rotation:

Curry will have the opportunity to debut his new signature shoe on the court Tuesday when the Golden State Warriors host the Los Angeles Clippers at Chase Center in San Francisco.

Injury Report: Steph Curry misses practice with the flu, questionable vs. Clippers

Stephen Curry is listed as questionable with the flu against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Following his return to the court after missing four months with a broken hand, Stephen Curry is back on the injury report. The two-time Most Valuable Player was ruled out with the flu for the Golden State Warriors victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday night.

Curry has been diagnosed with “the seasonal flu,” according to the Warriors. Golden State confirmed Curry is not dealing with the coronavirus in a status update — “he has no specific risk factors for COVID-19.”

Curry missed practice on Sunday with the same flu. According to Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle, Curry is questionable for Tuesday against the Los Angeles Clippers. Golden State’s point guard will get another day to rest on Monday as the team has the day off.

Without their six-time All-Star against the Sixers, Damion Lee led the Warriors in scoring with 24 points on 10-of-17 shooting in 34 minutes. If Curry is ruled out against Kawhi Leonard and the Clippers, Lee will be paired with Jordan Poole and Mychal Mulder in the Golden State backcourt.

Watch: Converse debuts ‘welcome to the family’ commercial for Draymond Green

Converse officially welcomed Draymond Green to the family.

After spending the first seven years of his career donning the Nike swoosh, Draymond Green has a new shoe deal. The former Defensive Player of the Year signed a multiyear endorsement deal with Converse. Green, along with Phoenix Suns guard Kelly Oubre Jr. will take over as the leaders Converse’s basketball brand.

Green has yet to debut his new Converse shoes on the court as he’s been absent from the past five games due to lingering knee soreness. Once Green returns to the Golden State Warriors, he’s expected to lace up the Converse G4 shoe.

While there’s still a wait for Green’s in-game shoe debut, Converse released a “welcome to the family” commercial for the Michigan State product.

If healthy, Green’s next chance to suit up in his new Converse will be Tuesday when Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and the Los Angeles Clippers come to Chase Center in San Francisco.

After impressive game vs. 76ers, Damion Lee gets support from Steph Curry and Kevin Durant

After Damion Lee recorded 24 points against the 76ers, Kevin Durant and Steph Curry posted support for the former two-way guard on social media.

In Stephen Curry’s return to the Golden State Warriors against the Toronto Raptors, Damion Lee quietly stole the show. The former two-way guard matched Curry with 23 points while adding five rebounds, three assists and a steal against the defending NBA champions.

However, Lee’s game was defined by how he finished. Down four points with 26 seconds remaining, the Drexel product missed two crucial free throws that followed with a missed 3-pointer. Toronto was able to seal the game with two free throws on the other end.

In Golden State’s next game on the schedule, Lee found redemption. Against the Philadelphia 76ers, the 27-year-old guard racked up 24 points on 10-of-17 shooting with six rebounds and three assists in 34 minutes.

In Golden State’s comeback win, Lee punched in a critical left-handed baseline runner while he was fouled. The Golden State guard knocked down his free throw attempt to give the Warriors a two-point lead with under two minutes remaining. In the fourth quarter alone, Lee registered seven points and three rebounds.

After his impressive night against the Sixers, Lee received support from two former Most Valuable Players.

As Lee was chosen to participate in a postgame interview, Kevin Durant shared a picture of his former two-way contract teammate on his Instagram story.

Curry missed Golden State’s comeback win against the 76ers due to the flu, but after the game, he tweeted praise for his backcourt mate.

Over the last eight games, Lee is averaging 16.5 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.9 assists per contest. The Baltimore native will get another chance to build off his hot play when the Warriors welcome Kawhi Leonard and the Los Angeles Clippers to San Francisco.
