An unsportsmanlike conduct penalty after DB Marco Wilson threw an LSU player’s shoe became the pivotal moment in a Florida loss to LSU.
Once again, a last-second field goal doomed the Gators. Unlike in their loss to Texas A&M, they had the chance to answer after Cade York drilled a 57-yarder. But despite a drive that got Florida into Evan McPherson‘s field-goal range, he missed the kick as time expired.
UF lost for the second time this season on Saturday, this time to rival LSU at home 37-34. Florida’s struggles from the last several weeks came to a tee in the outing, and it failed to execute on both sides of the ball despite a productive day on paper for the offense.
Though larger aspirations may have been dashed with the upset loss, the Gators face the nation’s top team next Saturday in Alabama with an SEC title on the line. As UF tries to move forward, here are five takeaways from the loss to the Tigers.

Along with new shoes, Paschall has picked up some honors during the offseason. After an impressive debut season in the Bay Area, the Villanova product was named to the NBA’s All-Rookie First Team. Paschall also received third-place votes in the NBA’s race for Rookie of the Year.
Before he can lace-up with a pair of shoes from his collection, Paschall will have to wait for the Warriors to return to Chase Center at the start of the 2020-21 season.
Marquese Chriss has high praise of Eric Paschall’s shoe game.
While game action is on pause, a popular time-filler for players around the association is interactive Q&A segments with fans. After Stephen Curry and Eric Paschall stepped in front of the camera, another member of the Golden State Warriors was served up questions by fans on Twitter.
The former lottery pick shared what he’s learning from Curry and Draymond Green along with his favorite memory since joining the Warriors. Chriss was then asked to pick his teammate with the best shoe game.
While some members of the Warriors have signature shoe deals, Chriss selected a rookie for Golden State’s kick king. The former Washington Husky said he would steal shoes from Paschall if they wore the same size.
My teammate with the best NBA kicks — probably would have to be Eric [Paschall]. I think he probably has the most diversity with his shoes. I think if we wore the same size, I’d probably steal some of his shoes.
After getting drafted in the second round by the Warriors, Paschall signed an endorsement deal with Nike. Throughout his first season in Golden State, the Villanova product has pulled out a bevy of kicks with the swoosh. Paschall’s been seen wearing different Kobe Bryant and LeBron James signature Nikes.
When the Warriors return for the final 17 games of the season, Paschall will have some pressure to defend his shoe game title.

If healthy, Green’s next chance to suit up in his new Converse will be Tuesday when Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and the Los Angeles Clippers come to Chase Center in San Francisco.
Stephen Curry rolled out a new edition of his signature Under Armour Curry 7 shoes, with the latest getting a Chinese New Year colorway.
The 2019-20 season has been a change of pace for the Golden State Warriors two-time Most Valuable Player, Stephen Curry. Injuries have turned Curry from one of Golden State’s key contributors to lead hype man on the bench. However, one thing has stayed the course— the All-Star sharpshooter’s shoe game has been on-point.
The Under Armour shoe is two-tones of gray with a shiny gold accent line that’s capped off with a pink and green floral pattern on the heel. According to Under Armour’s website, Curry got his inspiration from Chinese paintings.
The Curry 7 Chinese New Year colorway features a gray on gray upper comprised of several layered materials. An original floral pattern—inspired by Chinese shui-mo ink and wash painting—elevates the shoe’s back panel and a golden, flexible plate helps augment its white heel.
Curry’s new shoes are available for purchase at the Warriors’ San Francisco arena, the Chase Center. The Davidson product and Under Armour have a locker that displays each shoe as they’re released. Inside the locker, Curry shares his colorway inspiration for the new signature shoe.
After being available at Chase Center on January 8, Curry’s shoes will get a global release on January 10, just in time for the start of the Chinese New Year.
D’Angelo Russel took to Instagram to show off a new pair of Warriors themed Way of Wade shoes.
It’s been a whirlwind season for D’Angelo Russell since arriving in Golden State. There’s been trade speculation, injuries and no Stephen Curry in Russell’s first season with the Dubs. Still, the 23-year-old did get a notable upgrade to his shoe game.
In November, Russell signed a partnership with Dwyane Wade’s Li-Ning Way of Wade shoe brand. Since joining Wade, the Ohio State product has been rolling out new Way of Wade “Infinity” shoes throughout the season, with his latest decked out in a familiar colorway.
In the video, Russell shows off three different Warrior-centric colorways in white, blue and black. Each shoe had Russell’s nickname, “…Loading” imprinted on the pull tab of the kick’s tongue.
Russell’s missed the past two games for Golden State against San Antonio and Minnesota with a sore shoulder. Prior to losing Russell via injury, Golden State won four-straight games for the first time all season. Without the Louisville native, the Dubs have dropped two in a row.
