Injury Report: Steph Curry (flu) expected to make return Thursday vs. Nets

Stephen Curry is expected to make his return from his two-game absence with the flu against the Nets.

After missing four months with a broken hand injury, Stephen Curry made his long-awaited return with 20 games left on the schedule. However, his reunion with the Golden State Warriors was short-lived.

Curry has been ruled out for consecutive games after being diagnosed with the flu before the Warriors contest against the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday. The six-time All-Star returned to Golden State’s morning shootaround on Tuesday, but was still held out against Kawhi Leonard and the Clippers.

Yet, the two-time Most Valuable Player could be ready to return as soon as Golden State’s next game. Steve Kerr spoke to reporters about Curry’s illness before the Warriors tipoff against the Clippers. Golden State’s coach expects Curry to play against the Nets on Thursday.

I expect him to play Thursday. He wanted to play tonight, and we wouldn’t let him given that he hadn’t done anything the last three days. This is a good day for him to get a good workout, get some rest tonight and then workout again tomorrow and hopefully, everything goes smoothly and he’ll play Thursday night — that’s the plan.

In Curry’s first game back against the Raptors, the point guard scored 23 points on 6-of-16 shooting in 27 minutes.

If the Davidson product is healthy against the Nets, Curry will have 17 games remaining on the schedule to build chemistry with his new teammates going into the offseason.

Injury Report: Warriors will be without pair of former All-Stars vs the Clippers

Against Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and the Clippers, the Warriors will be without both Draymond Green (knee soreness) and Stephen Curry (flu).

After making his much-anticipated return to the court from a four-month injury absence, the Golden State Warriors will be without Stephen Curry again.

The two-time Most Valuable Player made his way back to the floor against the Toronto Raptors after missing 58 games with a broken hand.

The next game, Curry was ruled out against the Philadelphia 76ers with the flu. Following Golden State’s win against the Sixers, the Warriors’ point guard missed practice over the weekend.

According to Anthony Slater of The Athletic, Curry participated in Golden State’s morning shootaround before the Clippers game.

However, Curry is scheduled to miss his 60th game of the season after being officially ruled out against the Clippers with the flu.

Making things more difficult against Los Angeles, Curry won’t be the only All-Star caliber player out for the Warriors. Draymond Green has been ruled out for his sixth-consecutive game with knee soreness.

Without Green and Curry, Steve Kerr will have to rely on Damion Lee, Eric Paschall and Marquese Chriss against Kawhi Leonard and the Clippers.

Against the Sixers, Lee and Paschall each added 23 or more points, while Chriss recorded a near triple-double with 13 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists.

With Lee taking over point guard, Mychal Mulder started at shooting guard for the Warriors against Philadelphia. The newly signed guard added 18 points on 3-of-7 shooting from beyond the arc.

The depleted edition of the Warriors will need all the help they can get against the second-place team in the Western Conference — winners of six of their last seven.

The former Defensive Player of the Year will miss his sixth straight game on Tuesday night against the Los Angeles Clippers due to knee soreness.

After being ejected against the Los Angeles Lakers, Green has only played in 10 minutes across the past eight games for Golden State. Before missing time with knee soreness, Green missed two games with a pelvic contusion.

Without Green against the Clippers, the Warriors will rely on Marquese Chriss and Dragan Bender in the frontcourt. Rookie Eric Paschall should be in line for heavy minutes after scoring 20 points or more in three of the past five games.

After missing four months with a broken left hand, Curry made his return against the Toronto Raptors, but immediately hit the injury report by the next game. In honor of International Women’s Day, Steph Curry dropped a new colorway of his UA Curry 7 signature shoe in collaboration with actress Storm Reid.

Although Stephen Curry has missed a majority of the 2019-20 season due to injury, his signature Under Armour shoes are still rolling out new editions.

“Sour Patch Kids,” “Dub Nation” and “UNDRTD” are just a few of the colorways Under Armour has released through the Curry 7 brand. The latest colorway for Curry’s signature shoe is a collaboration with actress Storm Reid.

To honor International Women’s Day, the new edition of the shoe is an ode to Reid’s “Bamazing” initiative that empowers young women. The shoe has multiple shades of purple, with “Bamazing” and “humble” listed on the insole.

To celebrate the release of the colorway, Curry shared a video on social media with Reid.

Stephen Curry is listed as questionable with the flu against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Following his return to the court after missing four months with a broken hand, Stephen Curry is back on the injury report. The two-time Most Valuable Player was ruled out with the flu for the Golden State Warriors victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday night.

Curry has been diagnosed with “the seasonal flu,” according to the Warriors. Golden State confirmed Curry is not dealing with the coronavirus in a status update — “he has no specific risk factors for COVID-19.”

Curry missed practice on Sunday with the same flu. According to Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle, Curry is questionable for Tuesday against the Los Angeles Clippers. Golden State’s point guard will get another day to rest on Monday as the team has the day off.

Stephen Curry’s 23 points in his return from injury wasn’t enough against the defending champion Toronto Raptors.

In a rematch of the 2019 Finals, the Golden State Warriors game against the Toronto Raptors was one of the most anticipated games on the NBA’s slate. Stephen Curry made his long-awaited return to the court after missing the past 58 games.

Yet, the defending NBA champions spoiled Curry’s reunion at Chase Center in San Francisco, 121-113.

The Warriors battled the Eastern Conference playoff-bound Raptors late into the game. However, even with Curry’s help, Golden State could not closeout.

The Dubs cut the Raptors lead to one-point heading into the final period of the game. Yet, the talent of Pascal Siakam and Kyle Lowry took over the contest. Golden State made it entertaining at the end of the game with a late run with Curry on the floor, but it wasn’t enough.

Lowry and Siakam combined for 13 points on 4-of-7 shooting in the fourth quarter to hold off the gritty Warriors.

The Raptors sealed Golden State’s 10th straight loss at home this season. The Warriors will have the chance to snap their 10-game home losing streak on Saturday when the Philadelphia 76ers come to the Bay Area.

Curry was on a minutes restriction against the Raptors, but the six-time All-Star took advantage of his time back on the court. Curry scored 23 points on 6-of-16 shooting in 27 minutes. Curry added seven assists and six rebounds against the Raptors.

In his return, Curry flashed glimpses of his All-Star caliber play. Whether it was long-distance shooting or crafty passes, the two-time Most Valuable Player looked like his old self on the court.

All-Stars like Siakam and Lowry lead the Raptors, but against the Warriors, Norman Powell arrived. Powell registered a career-high 37 points on 13-of-20 shooting in 38 minutes for the Raptors. The UCLA product added three rebounds, three steals and two assists.

Anytime the Warriors chipped away at Toronto’s lead, Powell answered.

Damion Lee

Damion Lee continued his breakout campaign with another solid performance. Lee matched Curry’s total with 23 points on 8-of-17 shooting while adding five rebounds and three assists.

Lee had back-to-back chances to keep the Warriors in the game late, but could not convert a pair of free throws. When Marquese Chriss stole an offensive rebound, Lee missed an open 3-pointer to cut Toronto’s lead to three with under a minute remaining.

With the shot clock winding down in the second quarter, Curry had a vintage moment. McCaw flew out to Curry near the Chase Center logo and the long-distance shooter drilled a deep 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Count all four

In the third quarter against the Raptors, Curry broke out one of his signature celebrations. The six-time All-Star nailed a top of the key 3-pointer and was fouled by Kyle Lowry. After the foul, Curry counted his fingers to signal the four-point play.

It has been 58 games since Stephen Curry suited up in his No. 30 Golden State Warriors uniform. Finally, Thursday night against the Toronto Raptors, that changed.

In Curry’s return to Golden State’s lineup for the first time in four months, all eyes were on his left hand. Since getting injured in late October against the Phoenix Suns, Curry’s hand has gone through two surgeries and a tedious rehab.

Outside of scrimmaging in practice, Curry’s hand has gone through a limited amount of full-contact situations. The two-time Most Valuable Player’s hand was bound to get tested against the Raptors.

The six-time All-Star didn’t waste any time using his surgically repaired hand. Curry whipped a behind the back no-look pass to Andrew Wiggins underneath the basket for an easy layup.
