2022 ACC/Big Ten Challenge matchups announced

Besides the one involving the Irish, which game most interests you?

Few things draw more excitement during the early part of the college basketball season than the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Every team from one power conference matches up against one from the other. Whether the opponent is good or bad, it also is nice for these teams to see how well they do against a similar level of competition. It definitely is one of the major tuneups for when the conference schedule begins.

The 2022 matchups have been announced, and the ACC would like to change its luck. The conference won this series, which began in 1999, in each of its first 10 seasons. Since then, its only wins have come in 2016 and 2017, the latter of which saw it post a series-best 11-3 record. The Big Ten has had the upper hand in each of the past three years, so a changing of the guard is overdue.

Here are the matchups for this year’s edition:

The regionals were filled with Auburn dominating their entire regional, high-scoring, marathon games in Stillwater and Stanford, and LSU erasing huge deficits in the Hattiesburg Regional before ultimately ending their season with a loss to host Southern Miss.

This weekend’s Super Regionals appear to bring just as much excitement. Here’s a look at who is playing, where they are playing, and how to watch them on this one final weekend before the College World Series begins.

D1Baseball sends Arkansas to Stillwater in final Field of 64 projections

In the final Field of 64 projections by D1Baseball, Arkansas would begin their postseason journey just down the road in Oklahoma.

As conference tournaments come to a close on Sunday, the NCAA Tournament becomes more and more clear.

For Arkansas Baseball, who have lost four games in a row and are 2-6 over their last eight games, their dreams of hosting a regional have all but disappeared.

But, their postseason journey will not take them too far says D1Baseball.com in their latest “Field of 64” projections.

In the lasted projections that were released Sunday, Arkansas is cast as the no. 2 seed in the Stillwater Regional, hosted by Oklahoma State.

The Cowboys are expected to become the no. 14 overall seed after falling to Texas in the Big 12 Conference Tournament semi-finals. Joining Arkansas and Oklahoma State in the regional would be mid-major power Dallas Baptist, as well as Southeast Missouri.

According to the projections, the Stillwater Regional would be paired with the Blacksburg Regional, hosted by no. 3 overall seed Virginia Tech, which features UCLA, Virginia Commonwealth, and Coppin State in addition to the Hokies.

Arkansas will discover their official postseason fate on Monday morning at 11 a.m. CDT. Stay tuned to Razorbacks Wire for the latest in Arkansas Baseball news.

97 days until Notre Dame football returns

What is your favorite long run in the history of Notre Dame football?

The countdown until Notre Dame football returns to the field is officially under way. We started our countdown by looking back at Lou Holtz in honor of his 100 wins as Notre Dame’s head coach and will have various ways to count down the days and numbers.

98 days until Notre Dame football returns

Today we are 14 weeks from the first full Saturday of college football in 2022, and we note it by looking back at the second longest run in the history of Notre Dame football.

The 2018 Fighting Irish wound up going 12-0 in the regular season and qualifying for the College Football Playoff for the first time in program history.  That season didn’t come without battles however and one such game was at No. 24 Virginia Tech in early October in the season’s sixth game.

Leading 17-16 but facing a 2nd and 12 from their own three yard line early in the second half, Notre Dame put the ball in the hands of one of its playmakers and the top-25 contest was never the same after.

A look at the 2022 NCAA Softball Super Regional Matchups

Regional weekend provided softball fans with plenty of excitement. Super Regional weekend could have that same effect.

Softball fans, rejoice. We are one week away from the start of the Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City.

Before we get there, though, there is one final weekend where 16 teams will play for a shot to travel to Oklahoma City, and begin their road to a national title.

There were plenty of head-turning moments during the regional weekend, where five teams advanced to the supers despite not hosting a regional. Some of the biggest upsets include Stanford defeating Alabama in the Tuscaloosa Regional, which causes Alabama to miss the Super Regionals for the first time since 2005.

Another shocker was Mississippi State winning the Tallahassee Regional. Although Florida State entered the weekend as the no. 2 national seed, many believed that South Florida had a chance to upset the Seminoles and sneak their way into the supers.

After dropping their first game to South Florida on Friday, 4-0, Mississippi State got their revenge on the Bulls by defeating USF, 6-0 in an elimination game. Mississippi State turned around and defeated the Seminoles twice in order to rise as victors.

If super regional weekend is as crazy as the previous weekend, softball fans could be in for a treat this weekend.

Notre Dame offers four-star Massachusetts forward T.J. Power

The Irish could use this kid.

If the next season began today, Notre Dame would have a whole lot of guards but not many forwards. Heck, it was like that this past season. However, could a power forward from Massachusetts help rectify that problem in a couple of years? Say hello to T.J. Power, a 2023 recruit who has received an offer from the Irish:

Power attends Worcester Academy and lights it up for that school, but he also plays for the Boston Amateur Basketball Club, of which Bonzie Colson is an alumnus. He’s done pretty well for that team lately, too:

And he’s catching the attention of at least one recruiting analyst:

So far, the Irish will have to battle with the following ACC rivals for Power’s services: Miami, Boston College, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest and Virginia Tech. Others in contention include Iowa, Penn State, Oklahoma, Marquette and Georgetown. A decision likely won’t come for a while, but let’s hope for the best.

NFL Draft Best Picks of All-Time From Every ACC School

Who are the ACC’s greatest NFL Draft picks of all-time? Here are the top three best picks from each ACC program.

Who are the best NFL Draft picks from every ACC program? Which players turned into the greatest stars at the next level?

The ACC takes a backseat to no one when it comes to NFL draft bragging rights from its current programs.

The bulk players might not be there like it is from the SEC and the Big Ten, but you want high-end talent?

From Dan Marino to Jim Brown, and from Lawrence Taylor to Derrick Brooks to Aaron Donald, there’s a lot for the ACC to chirp about.

This isn’t a list of the top pro players to come from the ACC schools – these are the best draft picks.

Players who had great careers for teams other than the ones that drafted them don’t get enough credit, or aren’t on the list at all.

The goal for any draft pick is to get a player who performs at a high level for a long period of time, so longevity matters over one short burst of greatness.
