Alabama transfer QB set to visit UGA

Georgia football will get a visit from Alabama Crimson Tide transfer QB

The Georgia Bulldogs might be getting a player from an SEC rival to transfer to UGA. Alabama transfer quarterback Dylan Lonergan will officially visit Georgia this week, according to Max Olson of ESPN.

Lonergan was a four-star recruit from Snellville, Georgia. He was ranked as the No. 13 quarterback in the class of 2023 and the Bulldogs recruited him, but he chose the Crimson Tide.

In 2024 with the Crimson Tide, he threw for 23 yards on five completions and ran for sixteen yards. However, with Alabama seemingly going with five-star Ty Thompson to replace Jalen Milroe, Lonergan decided to transfer.

He announced his decision after Alabama missed the College Football Playoff. Lonergan will has three seasons of eligibility remaining.

In his high school career, Lonergan passed for 7,851 yards, 71 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions while completing 63 percent of his pass attempts.

Georgia is pursuing other transfer quarterbacks, such as Cal QB Fernando Mendoza and Charlotte QB DeShawn Purdie. Whoever Georgia recruits will join a 2025 Georgia quarterback room with Gunner Stockton, Ryan Puglisi, Jaden Rashada, and four-star Ryan Montgomery.

Dean played one season at Butler Community College in Kansas. The former Bulldog recorded 17 tackles and 7.5 sacks in his lone year at Butler Community College.

Dean is a four-star transfer, per 247Sports. Dean is the No. 7 junior college recruit in the country and the No. 2 player at his position.

Georgia football OL enters transfer portal

Georgia football offensive guard Griffin Scroggs is hitting the transfer portal

The Georgia Bulldogs offensive lineman Griffin Scroggs has entered the NCAA transfer portal. Scroggs joins several other Dawgs in the portal.

Griffin Scroggs, who played guard for Grayson High School, was rated as a three-star recruit in the class of 2022. Scroggs never saw much playing time during his freshman season in Athens. He will have four years of eligibility remaining.

Scroggs was committed to Georgia Tech during his recruitment, so there’s a chance he transfers to Georgia’s top in-state rival.

Right now, Georgia defensive tackle Bear Alexander, linebacker Rian Davis, Shone Washington, and wide receiver Dominick Blaylock are all in the transfer portal.

Kirby Smart and Georgia brought in just three transfers this offseason (Smoke Bouie, Dominic Lovett, and Rara Thomas). The Bulldogs have 14 players that have transferred or are in the portal. However, Georgia still faces challenges related to being over the scholarship limit.

Georgia has the nation’s No. 55 transfer class. The Bulldogs typically prefer to bring in talented recruits as opposed to a bunch of transfers. Georgia signed the nation’s No. 2 class of 2023.

Blount’s last catch came versus Arkansas State in 2019 and in 2020, he started at wideout versus Kentucky and saw limited action in Georgia’s last four games.

UGA football player card: QB JT Daniels

Georgia Bulldogs redshirt sophomore quarterback JT Daniels comes to UGA after spending the first two seasons of his career at USC

[jwplayer JK7BPwpB]

Quarterback JT Daniels (No. 18):

Class: Redshirt Sophomore

Height: 6-3

Weight: 210 pounds

Hometown: Irvine, California

High School: Mater Dei High School

Georgia Bulldogs redshirt sophomore quarterback JT Daniels comes to UGA after spending the first two seasons of his career at USC. Daniels transferred from the Trojans following an ACL injury he suffered during the 2019 season opener. Daniels is still rehabbing the injury and isn’t fully cleared to play as of late Aug. 2020.

Daniels has an opportunity this season in Athens with the departure of Buffalo Bills quarterback Jake Fromm. He will compete with Jamie Newman, Carson Beck, and more for the starting job. The NCAA granted him immediate illegibility on his transfer.

Georgia’s quarterback position has more depth this season than during the 2019 season. Georgia will have several options ready to step up if the starter suffers an injury. Wake Forest transfer Jamie Newman is projected to be the starter.

In three seasons at the prestigious Mater Dei High School, JT Daniels averaged more than 50 touchdown passes and 4,000 passing yards per season. Daniels was rated as the third ranked quarterback in his recruiting class behind Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields.

Daniels has solid experience from his days at USC. In 2018, Daniels threw for 14 touchdowns and 10 interceptions for the Trojans. At the very least he will provide the Georgia Bulldogs with a solid, experienced option as a back up. He’s got the talent to earn the starting role this season and beyond.

Georgia’s quarterback position has impressive depth this season. That being said, there may be too many mouths to feed in the quarterback room. Georgia will have several options ready to step up if the starter suffers an injury.

Carson Beck committed to the University of Georgia almost a week after receiving a scholarship offer from Kirby Smart and company. He announced his commitment via his Twitter account:
