Georgia football finishes with No. 1 recruiting class for second time in three years

Georgia football finishes with the #1 ranked recruiting class in all of college football for the second time in three years.

This Wednesday at 11:42 a.m., 247Sports called it quits in the recruiting battle mayhem.

Via Twitter, they officially crowned the Georgia Bulldogs as the #1 recruiting class in all of college football for the second time in just three years.

The Dawgs have 4 5-stars, 15 4-stars and 6 3-stars ready to go for the 2020-2021 season this coming fall.

The SEC has 9 of the top 25 recruiting classes, along with six teams in the top 8.  It is safe to say that with the exception of Clemson and Ohio State, the SEC swept the recruiting frenzy with the Dawgs leading the charge.

From the looks of it, Kirby Smart is fed up with falling short late in the season.  Since the arrival of Kirby the Dawgs have been having more success than they’ve had in decades, but it doesn’t seem to be enough for Smart and his staff.

It’s a GREAT day to be a Georgia Bulldog.

Georgia football announced the signing of 3-star CB Daran Branch today, an Ole Miss flip.

Georgia football has announced the signing of 3-star cornerback Daran Branch today, National Signing Day.

Branch made news today when he flipped his commitment from Ole Miss to Georgia, adding to there Bulldogs’ already No. 1 ranked recruiting class.

Branch, out of Amite, Louisiana, committed to Ole Miss in November of 2019, but today decided he wanted to be a Georgia Bulldog.

At 6-2, 180 pounds, Branch is described as a physical cornerback.

Branch took a visit to Georgia on January 24th.

The University of Georgia announced the signing on Twitter.

Georgia football flips Ole Miss CB commit

Georgia football was able to flip an Ole Miss CB commit.

Georgia was able to flip cornerback Daran Branch from Ole Miss.

Branch is a 3-star cornerback out of Amite, Louisiana who ranks as the nation’s No. 672 overall player and, until today, was committed to play at Ole Miss.

Georgia had been coming for Branch, though. He took an official visit to UGA on January 24th and then visited Ole Miss last weekend.

Georgia offered the 6-2, 180 pound cornerback at the end of December and had been gunning for the Rebel commit hard, Branch told 247.

We predicted this yesterday when we outlined two players that could commit to Georgia today. The other, Cameron Kinnie, also committed to UGA today as well.

Georgia football: Two targets to watch on NSD

Two targets Georgia football fans should watch as we approach National Signing Day.

In addition to Georgia signing all of its remaining commitments during tomorrow’s National Signing Day, the Bulldogs could also look to bring in a few more players to a class that already ranks No. 1 in the nation.

For Kirby Smart, the signing of these final remaining commits would be a win on its own, and you can view tomorrow’s schedule here — but being able to add one or two more players would add some excitement to a day that’s lost some luster since the addition of December’s Early Signing Day.

The two players for Georgia fans to keep an eye on tomorrow are 3-stars Daran Branch and Cameron Kinnie.

Branch is a 3-star cornerback out of Amite, Louisiana who ranks as the nation’s No. 672 overall player and is currently committed to play at Ole Miss.

Georgia is coming for Branch, though. He took an official visit to Georgia on January 24th and then visited Ole Miss last weekend.

Georgia offered the 6-2, 180 pound cornerback at the end of December and have been gunning for the Rebel commit hard, Branch told 247.

“I feel like I bring everything the coaches need to the table,” said Branch. “I can play any position. I’m very versatile. I’m a hybrid DB. I’m not just a corner. I’m not just a safety. I can go and play anything. I can play linebacker at the end if they want me to.”

Kinnie is a 3-star defensive tackle who comes from Suwanee, Georgia. He can play both offensive and defensive line.

Kinnie is a player who excels in the classroom and on the football field for his Collins Hill High School team.

“I am a hard-working, high-motor, cerebral guy who can see a lot so that is why I play center,” Kinnie told 247. “I am the guy you can trust with the ball in your hands on every play. I can read defenses, in after playing center for only one year. I am getting better, I am hungry, and I am humble.”

Georgia football: National Signing Day schedule

A look at Georgia football’s schedule for National Signing Day.

Georgia enters Wednesday’s National Signing Day with the nation’s No. 1 ranked recruiting class and will look to hold on to that top spot throughout the day.

With the Dawgs making a big splash during December’s Early Signing Day, there should not be a terrible amount of excitement taking place tomorrow in Athens, but the signing of a few commitments will be something to keep an eye on.

The biggest storyline of tomorrow for Georgia will be what 5-star offensive tackle Broderick Jones does. Jones has been committed to Georgia for a long time and Auburn was considered the Bulldogs’ top threat to flip him. However, Jones passed on a chance to visit Auburn last weekend, so things are looking good for Georgia in that regard.

Here is tomorrow’s schedule for National Signing Day:

Georgia commitments who will be signing:

5-star OT Broderick Jones: 10am

4-star OC Sedrick Van Pran: 11am

3-star WR Ladd McConkey: 11am

4-star RB Daijun Edwards: 1pm

No. 6 RB signs with Georgia football

The No. 6 overall RB signed with Georgia football today.

Milton is the No. 37 overall player in his class, No. 6 running back and No. 4 in California.

With Swift possibly leaving and Herrien set to depart, there will be immediately room at the running back position for Milton to come in and compete.

Milton is a big back. At 6-2 and 215 pounds, he enjoys running over defenders but possesses the ability to outrun you or make you miss in open space.

He had been committed to Georgia since July.

Elite kicker signs with Georgia football

Georgia football has a signature from kicker Jared Zirkel

On Wednesday, Jared Zirkel, a kicker out of Kerrville, Texas, signed with Georgia.

He is the nation’s No. 36 overall player, No. 3 OT and No. 5 player in Georgia.

Maybe Georgia can creative with him, seeing as how he is a former tight end.
