Even kicker Tyler Bass getting in on hot start for the Bills

Even kicker Tyler Bass getting in on hot start for the #Bills:

Both sides of the ball are getting in on the early-season blowout fun for the Bills.

The defense has done things the 2000 Ravens have accomplished. The offense seemingly just can’t miss and have quarterback Josh Allen back in the MVP discussion.

But wait.. actually, scratch that, also helping out? Those special teamers, namely kicker Tyler Bass.

Heading into Week 5, Bass is \the leading scorer in the NFL this season. In total, Bass has scored 44 points.

That comes on the heels of a 4-for-4 game just last week against the Houston Texans for the kicker.

In addition, according to NFL statistician Mike Haim, Bass has 185 points in the first 20 games in his career so far.

Since 1950, that figure gives Bass the second-most points by any player in that time frame. The only other to exceed that is kicker Harrison Butker.

Speaking of whom, Butker is the kicker for the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo’s next opponent.

For those wondering, Butker’s first 20 game weren’t that long ago, either. He accomplished that 210-point feat between 2017 and 2018.

The Buffalo Bills advanced to 3-1 on the season with a dominant 40-0 victory over the inept Houston Texans.

It was a wet and rainy day in Western New York that saw plenty of sloppy play from the away team. Outside of an interception from Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen and a poor red zone possession, the Bills played a flawless game.

With the Kansas City Chiefs on the horizon let’s look back at who played well and who didn’t against the Houston Texans in this week’s stock report:

Well, even the losses are bigger in Texas.

The Buffalo Bills decimated the Houston Texans 40-0, and move to 3-1 ahead of next Sunday’s premier matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Following the Bills’ win, here’s how Bills Wire graded Buffalo out in the week’s report card:

Texans vs. Bills third quarter recap: Buffalo adds another field goal

The Buffalo Bills added three more to their lead to maintain domination over the Houston Texans 19-0.

Texans vs. Bills first quarter recap

Texans vs. Bills second quarter recap

Bills 8th drive — The Bills weren’t able to get a touchdown, as the Texans defense limited them to a 28-yard K Tyler Bass field goal. The Bills use 12 plays to go 65 yards and stall in the red zone. Bills, 19-0

Texans 9th drive — Houston had its longest drive of the game, going 21 yards in six plays. However, it ended in a punt. Radio and TV cut out from Highmark Stadium during the fourth down play, as Marc Vandermeer says Highmark Stadium lost power. Buffalo is backed up at their own 16-yard line.

Bills 9th drive — Buffalo continues to drive against a tired Texans defense.

Texans vs. Bills second quarter recap: Tyler Bass kicks Buffalo ahead 16-0

Buffalo Bills kicker Tyler Bass’ three field goals extended the lead to 16-0 over the Houston Texans.

Texans vs. Bills first quarter recap

Bills 4th drive — It looked like it was going to be a drive that ends in six with QB Josh Allen connecting with WR Stefon Diggs on a 31-yard pass to Houston’s 19-yard line. But DE Whitney Mercilus sacked Allen on the ensuing first down and killed the drive. Buffalo settled for a 33-yard K Tyler Bass field goal. Bills, 10-0

Texans 5th drive — Houston once again has trouble gaining yards with the run and leaves it up to QB Davis Mills to convert a third-and-9 from their own 12-yard line. The rookie takes a sack back at Houston’s 2-yard line.

Bills 5th drive — Buffalo may not be generating touchdown, but they are putting together points on their drive. A seven-play, 41-yard drive ends with Bass connecting on a 26-yard field goal. Bills, 13-0

Texans 6th drive — Once more, Houston goes with a conservative approach with runs and having Mills try to bail them out on third down. He goes down with a sack.

Bills 6th drive — The Texans caught a break when Allen fumbled the snap on a third-and-1 from the Houston 39-yard line. The Bills went for it on fourth-and-3, but LB Kamu Grugier-Hill knocked the ball away.

Texans 7th drive — Houston gets a face mask call on the first play of the drive; TE Pharaoh Brown is the offender. The drive basically died from there. Mills had a pass tipped and CB Micah Hyde picks it off.

Bills 7th drive — Buffalo’s drive stalled on a third-and-goal from the Texans’ 2-yard line. Bass connected on a 21-yard field goal. Bills, 16-0

Texans 8th drive — The Texans just handed it off to RB Mark Ingram to get to halftime. Buffalo will get the ball back to start the second half.

Report card: Bills top Washington Football Team, 43-21

Report card: #Bills did well on the scoreboard and in our grades (via @NateMendelson):

The Buffalo Bills continued their offensive tear, scoring 43 points against the Washington Football Team.

Quarterback Josh Allen looked like the MVP candidate he was in 2020 while the defensive unit showed no mercy to the Taylor Heinicke led offense. The backup QB had a long day at the office.

Following the Bills’ win, here’s how Bills Wire graded Buffalo out in this week’s report card:

Stock up, stock down following the Bills’ preseason win over the Lions

Stock up, stock down following the #Bills’ preseason win over the #Lions (via @mckennamiddle):

The Buffalo Bills kicked off their preseason with a dramatic 16-15 win over the Detroit Lions. The Bills controlled the game early, but a fourth quarter push from Detroit needed to see a late field goal from Tyler Bass to win the game for Buffalo.

Let’s see which of the preseason performers for the Bills excelled (and which didn’t) against the Detroit Lions in Bills Wire’s stock report:

WATCH: Jake Fromm bomb to Marquez Stevenson sets up Tyler Bass game winner

Quite the ending for the #Bills:

While only the preseason, the Buffalo Bills had quite the win over the Detroit Lions in Week 1 thanks to a couple of players in particular.

On the Buffalo offense, quarterback Jake Fromm and wide receiver Marquez Stevenson stole the show.

Fromm and Stevenson connected on a bomb down the left sideline on late fourth down to extend the game, and not only that, it put the Bills in field goal range. It was a 42-yard, field-flipping play:

A few plays later, kicker Tyler Bass took over. His boot from 44 yards sealed the victory for the Bills in the final seconds:

It’s the little details that make the different in the preseason… and all three showed up in Detroit.
