Four-star defensive end Tunmise Adeleye decommits from Ohio State

Four-star defensive end Tunmise Adeleye announced a decommitment from Ohio State Tuesday via his Twitter profile.

Ohio State has lost one of its most visible commitments for the 2021 class. Four-star defensive end Tunmise Adeley announced his decision to decommit from the program on Twitter Tuesday.

The country’s No. 4 rated strongside defensive end and No. 30 overall recruit in the 2021 class according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings committed to Ohio State back in April. At the time he said it was a lifelong dream of his to be Buckeye. He was out of the famed IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.

Despite the enthusiasm, it’s becoming increasingly tough to keep verbal commitments in the fold — especially through the coronavirus pandemic and inability to have face-to-face contact. Add that to the potential shutdown of programs in the Big Ten for the remainder of the year, and it’s understandable that Tunmise had been listening to other schools all along.

Here is the complete statement from Tunmise share to his Twitter profile.

It’s likely that Ryan Day, Lary Johnson, and the rest of the OSU staff will continue to work on Adeleye as things progress, but it’s also very, very possible that we’ll hear him move on to another program in the near future.

Two Ohio State commits react to Wisconsin recruit’s slam of Buckeye program

Two Ohio State commitments, Tunmise Adeleye and Evan Pryor fired back at Wisconsin recruit T.J. Bollers after slam of the program.

In case you missed it, things got a little heated on Twitter this past weekend. Ohio State commit Tunmise Adeleye made a comment about coming to grips with being a Clemson commit amid some of the socially charged protests around the confederate flag there. People jumped on it, including four-star Wisconsin commit T.J. Bollers.

A couple of Buckeye commitments for the 2021 class were quick to jump on Bollers’ poor judgment to pick a fight he wasn’t invited to. Both running back Evan Pryor and Jaylen Johnson weren’t going to let the slight go quietly into the scarlet and gray night.

Again, it probably wasn’t the best decision for Adelye to call out folks in and around Clemson, but it made absolutely no sense for Bollers to chime in.

First, for context, here was the original Tweet from Adeleye.

And the subsequent response from Bollers.

And now, the swift and succinct response from Pryor and Johnson.

As we mentioned before, this will be a fun backstory when they meet up on the football field. We’ll have to wait a while though. Not only do these commits have to finish their senior year of high school, but the teams also aren’t scheduled to play until November of 2022.

Of course the Badgers and Buckeyes could meet in Indy for the Big Ten Championship Game in 2021 for that to occur sooner. If so, we have a good feeling of what the outcome will be based on past history.

On Wisconsin?

Wisconsin recruit slams Ohio State football commit for choice of schools

Wisconsin commit T.J. Bollers slammed Ohio State recruit Tunmise Adelye for choosing the Buckeyes in response to his criticism of Clemson.

Everybody is a critic these days, especially in the politically charged environment we are all unfortunately in. Everyone seems to want to air grievances and dirty laundry out on social media.

And so it was Sunday when Ohio State commit Tunmise Adeleye trolled the Clemson program amid the public criticism it has gotten recently because of some perceived tone-deaf protests and stances on the social injustice in the world.

Adeleye, who is a four-star defensive end out of IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL, took to Twitter to sling mud at prospects that are currently committed to the Clemson program.

As expected, he got lit up by Tiger fans and followers, but it also stretched beyond that. In fact, four-star defensive end and Wisconsin commit T.J. Bollers also felt the need to weigh in by then slinging some vitriol towards the Ohio State program.

Look, far be it for anyone to criticize the perceived misgivings of other programs and communities out on Twitter. Adeleye most likely should have thought twice before lighting up the Tigers, and there’s no doubt Bollers should have refrained from responding out of emotion to a fight he wasn’t a part of.

You can bet this Tweet will be earmarked for a year or two down. If you are keeping score, the Badgers and Buckeyes are next set to matchup when these two are on the field on November 12, 2022, if they don’t meet up in the Big Ten Championship Game in 2021.

For now, there’s at least a year cooling-off period as both have a senior year of football to complete.

Ohio State commit Tunmise Adeleye reveals why he choose Buckeyes over Longhorns

Ohio State commit Tunmise Adeleye revealed why he chose Ohio State over his home state Texas in an Instagram post.

The Ohio State football coaching staff is in the middle of putting together one of the best recruiting classes in the history of the program. To go even further, the 2021 class has a shot at being the best class in the history of measuring recruiting classes if things break just right.

One of those highly sought after commits was four-star defensive end Tunmise Adeleye out of IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL. At 6-foot, 3-inches, Adeleye was originally from Houston, Texas and had the Longhorns in the list of schools he was considering before announcing his commitment on April 15.

But why? Clearly Ohio State has sent a lot of players to the NFL lately, and churning out defensive ends like the Boas brothers and Chase Young doesn’t hurt as a selling point. But why shun the home state Longhorns for a team in the wintry north of the United States?

Well, for Adeleye, it was just as much about what has happened in Austin as much as what he’s seen from defensive line coach Larry Johnson in Columbus.

“Cause in the past 5 years they’ve (Texas) only sent 15% of their 4 and 5 star recruits to the NFL draft,” said Adeley on an Instagram post.

As our friends at Longhorns Wire point out, this is a significant problem for Texas. The recruiting has been up there among the best college football programs, but the rate of those guys being developed and heading to the NFL is concerning.

If you’re an Ohio State fan, it’s great to hear this great perception some of the high-profile recruits have on the Buckeye program. For Tom Herman and Texas though, this is not exactly a ringing endorsement for the state of the program.

Ohio State commit reveals why he did not choose Texas

Four-star recruit Tunmise Adeleye was a target for Texas in the 2021 class. He revealed why he picked the Buckeyes instead of Texas.

Tunmise Adeleye recently committed to Ohio State, following the long line of defensive ends to play for the Buckeyes. The 6-3 240 pound pass rusher is originally from Houston before transferring to IMG Academy in Florida.

A four-star recruit on the 247Sports composite, Adeleye was a target for Texas in the 2021 recruiting class. When he announced he was committing to Ohio State instead, the Longhorns went a different direction at the defensive end position.

On his Instagram page, Adeleye was taking questions from fans. One asked him why he chose the Buckeyes over Texas. Here was his response:

“Cause in the past 5 years they’ve only sent 15% of their 4 and 5 star recruits to the NFL draft.”

This has been and it will continue to be the main problem for Texas. Tom Herman and his staff have done a great job bringing in the talent to win football games on paper. Where they have fallen short is taking those players and building a championship-caliber roster.

Since 2015, Texas has recruited one five-star and 35 four-star recruits who are now draft-eligible. Malik Jefferson (five-star, class of 2015), DeShon Elliot (four-star, class of 2015), Kris Boyd (four-star, class of 2015), Brandon Jones (four-star, class of 2016), Devin Duvernay (four-star, class of 2016), and Collin Johnson (four-star, class of 2016) are the only ones who have been drafted.

Nobody from the recruiting class of 2017 left for the NFL early. While it is nice to have an experienced roster full of seniors, the Longhorns continued their struggle of having blue-chip recruits and turning them into professional prospects with another class.

Adeleye is correct in saying Texas struggles to turn their recruited talent into NFL ready players. Until the Longhorns prove the development is there, not only will they struggle on the field but they will continue to miss out on elite talent across the country.

247 Sports updated its recruiting rankings, and Ohio State’s 2021 class is insane

Ohio State’s 2021 recruiting class is shaping up to be incredible. Ryan Day is keeping up the momentum.

Everyone has known for a while that Ohio State is the early leader to take home the 2021 recruiting title. Ryan Day and his crew have been excellent recruiters, quickly quelling one of the biggest fears surrounding Urban Meyer’s departure. It’s still early, of course, and there’s a ton of recruiting to be done before December. Whether it ends up as No. 1 overall or not, though, this Ohio State class will be one to remember.

Recruiting rankings services (well, the good ones, at least) don’t just give players a ranking then go home. They keep up with them, keep watching film, look at what coaches are talking to and about players, and overall try to keep every player and every ranking as accurate as possible. Therefore, individual players’ rankings will be updated from time to time, especially this far out from National Signing Day.

Well, 247 Sports updated its rankings this morning, and Ohio State’s class already looks like a monster one.

The players in Ohio State’s class so far have an average rating of 95.37. That’s an insane number, which likely will drop just a tad as the class fills out. (Clemson actually has a 95.38 average so far, but that class has only ten recruits, and none below a 4-star ranking. Ohio State, meanwhile, already has three 3-star players, which brings the average down a tad.) Still, it’s a really good insane number to have so far.

With just 17 commitments so far (plus a punter from Australia), the Buckeyes still have plenty of spaces to add more big names to this class. With a total of 296 quality points so far, this year’s Ohio State class already sits in what would have been a Top 5 class this past year. (Ohio State had the No. 5 class in 2020 with 295.08 quality points, and that had 25 recruits.) This recruiting class is already insane, and with months to go, it has room to get even better.

Maybe that’s the Buckeyes own three of the top four spots (and five of the top 12) in 247’s rankings of recruiting assistants. It’s certainly well-deserved.

Boom! Ohio State gets commitment from 4-star DE Tunmise Adeleye

Ohio State landed one of the best defensive ends in the 2021 recruiting cycle with the verbal commitment of 4-star Tunmise Adeleye.

The sonic booms just keep rolling in for the Ohio State football program. The latest is the commitment from 2021 four-star defensive end Tunmise Adeleye out of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.

According to 247Sports, Adeleye is the No. 41 overall recruit in the country and a top-five strong-side defensive end. He picked Ohio State over schools like Oklahoma, Texas, and Alabama. At 6-foot, 3-inches, and 240 pounds, there’s no doubt there’s still room for him to fill out his frame a bit when he gets to Columbus.

With the news, Ohio State now has a whopping sixteen commits to the 2021 class, one that is head and shoulders above any other program to date.

It’s hard to believe the roll the OSU program has been on when it comes to landing big-time prospects during the COVID-19 pandemic, but the numbers don’t lie.

And there’s still more big fish out there that could continue to separate what’s building for this recruiting cycle.

Five-star defensive end includes Ohio State in list of final six teams

Five-star 2021 defensive end Tunmise Adeleye out of Katy, Texas has included Ohio State in his final six list of schools.

Ohio State is in the running for one of the best defensive ends in the class of 2021. Tunmise Adeleye is a 6-3, 260 lb. five-star recruit out of Katy, Texas that has offers from almost every big-time program in the country.

According to 247Sports, he’s the No. 3 rated defensive end, and No. 26 overall recruit in the entire class. He’s had offers from the likes of Oklahoma, Alabama, Texas, LSU, and others. And now, he’s announced his list of final six schools that include the prospects of playing for defensive line coach Larry Johnson and the Ohio State program.

The other five schools include Texas A&M, LSU, Oklahoma, Alabama, and Florida. There is no timeline for a decision, and there’s a ton of time before one has to be made, but as further news develops we’ll be on top of it.

For now though, it looks like Ohio State has made enough of an impression on another Texan to at least grab his attention.

Texas Longhorns Recruiting: Misses The Cut On 2021 Five-Star Defensive End

Tunmise Adeleye has narrowed his list to six schools in his recruitment and the Texas Longhorns didn’t make the cut.

The Texas Longhorns have just wrapped up their early signing period where they signed 17 new Longhorns to join the team. They are likely to be added a couple more names to the list with National Signing Day coming up in February. One player who has narrowed his list for the 2021 class won’t be considering Texas.

Five star defensive end Tunmise Adeleye of Katy, Texas tweeted out his list of six schools he is considering going into his senior season in 2020. Unfortunately for Longhorns’ faithful, Texas wasn’t on it.

Adeleye is however still considering joining the Oklahoma Sooners. He has recorded 100 tackles, 18 tackles for loss and 11 sacks in two seasons.
