Eagles’ security chief Dom DiSandro banned from sidelines during matchup vs. Cowboys

Eagles Security Chiefs Dom DiSandro has been barred from being on the sidelines for Philadelphia’s Week 14 matchp

The Eagles will face the Cowboys without key personnel, as security chief Dom DiSandro has been banned from the sidelines for the Week 14 showdown.

The NFL sent a memo to teams this week after a sideline incident involving the 49ers’ linebacker Dre Greenlaw and the Eagles’ head of security, Dom DiSandro.

“Please ensure that all members of your game-day staff understand that their role does not extend to being involved with game day altercations and that they must refrain from such involvement.”
An already intense game grew chippy after tensions escalated when Greenlaw tackled Eagles receiver DeVonta Smith after the whistle near the Philadelphia sideline.

The late hit drew a 15-yard penalty, and as players from both teams got involved in a mini-scuffle, Eagles security chief Dom DiSandro stepped in between Greenlaw and DeVonta Smith.

While separating the two, DiSandro touched Greenlaw, who took exception and shoved the Eagles’ security before things simmered down.

Greenlaw and DiSandro were ejected, and San Francisco would win 42-19.

New mock draft gives Commanders a potentially elite offensive tackle

This pick would make Washington fans happy.

The Washington Commanders had an unprecedented run at left tackle for 20 seasons. From 2000 to 2019, Chris Samuels and Trent Williams manned the left tackle position for Washington. Samuels, the No. 3 overall selection in the 2000 NFL draft, made six Pro Bowls in his 10 NFL seasons before retiring in 2010 due to spinal stenosis.

So, in the 2010 NFL draft, former head coach Mike Shanahan chose Williams at No. 4 overall, and he immediately stepped in to replace Samuels. In 10 seasons with Washington (he didn’t play in 2019), Williams made seven Pro Bowls before he was traded in 2020.

Current left tackle Charles Leno Jr. is in his third season with the Commanders. While Leno is a solid veteran tackle, he’s undoubtedly not Williams or Samuels.

With Washington currently one of the worst teams in the NFL, it will likely have a top-five pick in the upcoming 2024 NFL draft. Depending on how high that selection is, the Commanders could entertain taking one of the draft’s top quarterbacks, or Washington could roll with Sam Howell and choose to build around him by finding the next Williams or Samuels.

Enter Olu Fashanu of Penn State.

In a new mock draft from Connor Livesay of The 33rd Team, he has the Commanders selecting Fashanu at No. 4 overall.

The Washington Commanders could consider drafting QB3 here, but adding blue-chip offensive tackle prospect Olu Fashanu is the better decision. The jury is still out as to whether Sam Howell can be the guy, so solidifying his protection and giving him one more year to earn the job makes sense.

Washington’s decision would be easier if Caleb Williams and Drake Maye were gone. There will be some draft analysts who will have Fashanu as the top overall prospect. He’s that good. Fashanu would be an ideal building block for the Commanders moving forward with a new regime expected to take over after the season.

NFL sends stern warning following incident between Eagles’ Dom DiSandro, 49ers’ Dre Greenlaw

Following the #49ers-#Eagles sideline incident, the NFL sent out a memo to all 32 teams issuing a stern warning in regards to all staff understanding their roles

The NFL sent a memo to teams this week after a sideline incident involving the 49ers’ linebacker Dre Greenlaw and the Eagles’ head of security, Dom DiSandro.

Eagles’ safety Justin Evans to remain on IR for rest of season after 21 day practice window expires

Justin Evans will remain on injured reserve for the rest of the 2023 NFL season after seeing his 21 day practice window expire.

The Justin Evans experiment is over, as the former Saints safety will see his season end after his 21-day practice window expires.

Philadelphia activated Evans’ 21-day practice window back on Nov. 14, but that 21-day window closed on Tuesday, and Evans will remain on Injured Reserve, ending his season.

Evans was a limited participant his first week back at practice but could not practice the last two weeks.

Signed as a free agent this offseason, Evans started the first four games of the season at safety for the Eagles, logging 15 tackles (nine solo), two passes deflected, and one forced fumble in four games.

The All-22: How the 49ers overcame a brutal start to demolish the Eagles’ defense

The Eagles had the 49ers’ offense on the ropes… and then, they REALLY didn’t. An all-22 appreciation of Kyle Shanahan’s coaching dominance.

In their first two drives against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, the San Francisco 49ers gained a total of minus-6 yards on two three-and-outs. It was the worst blip of the team’s time under Kyle Shanahan, who’s been San Francisco’s head coach since 2017.

Then, on their next six drives, the 49ers scored six straight touchdowns, pummeling the Eagles, 42-19, in what was supposed to be the matchup of the regular season, and turned out to be yet another Shanahan master class.

Clearly, the Eagles and defensive coordinator Sean Desai wanted to take away San Francisco’s passing game between the seams. And in the end, Shanahan had no problem with that. While Philly was defending the spine of the field, the 49ers simply went nuts either to the perimeter, or with concepts that took Desai’s defense out of their elements.

“Outside those first two drives, it’s like that’s the Niner football that we know,” Sa Francisco quarterback Brock Purdy said after the game. “That’s the offense that we know. Everyone’s doing their part, everything’s clicking obviously, some great play calls, and then everyone just makes plays and does it the right way. We protect the ball, defense does their job, that felt good. And that’s what we’re always trying to do. That’s the standard that we know and that’s the standard that we’ve set over the years. That’s what we expect out of ourselves.”

And here’s how it looked on the field.

Takeaways and observation from Eagles 42-19 loss to 49ers in Week 13

Brock Purdy threw four touchdown passes, and Deebo Samuel backed up his talk with three touchdowns as the 49ers defeated the Eagles 42-19 in a heated contest on Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field.

Philadelphia faced a halftime deficit for the third game in a row but could not withstand six straight scoring drives by a motivated San Francisco offense. Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was checked for a concussion as the normally physical Birds got bullied in a shocking turn of events in front of a stunned home crowd.

Philadelphia will have to quickly rebound and prepare for a Sunday night road matchup against the red-hot Dallas Cowboys (9-3) with first place on the line in the NFC East.

With the NFL world buzzing about the 49ers dropping 40+ on the Eagles, we’re looking at takeaways and observations.

Trent Williams said a healthy Brock Purdy gave him confidence 49ers would destroy Eagles

The 49ers were probably right about last year’s NFC title game.

The 49ers tried to tell us that Brock Purdy’s elbow injury was the difference in last year’s NFC title game. At the time, it seemed a little silly, considering the Eagles won by 24 points. After Sunday’s embarrassing rematch in Philadelphia — where San Francisco scored touchdowns on six consecutive possessions in a 42-19 blowout — maybe the 49ers had a point.

Perennial All-Pro tackle Trent Williams seems to think so.

When asked about what the 49ers thought of the Eagles in the postgame, Williams proclaimed he had “full confidence” his team would dominate their rivals because they had a healthy Brock Purdy.

Phew. I mean, to be fair, the proof looks like it’s in the pudding!

Considering this is the NFL’s best rivalry right now, I have a feeling we’re getting a playoff rubber match this January. But for now, the 49ers have the bragging rights, and they’re undoubtedly feeling vindicated about last year’s postseason. I don’t blame them.
