49ers’ Dre Greenlaw fined $10,927 for hit on DeVonta Smith that led to altercation with Dom DiSandro

The Dre Greenlaw, Dom DiSandro melodrama should be coming to an end after the Eagles security chief was banned from the sidelines for Week 14, and the 49ers linebacker was fined for body slamming DeVonta Smith in front of the Eagles bench.

The NFL announced on Saturday that Greenlaw had been fined $10,927 for unnecessary roughness after the star linebacker picked up Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith and slammed him to the ground, leading to the altercation in front of the Philadelphia bench.

Greenlaw will play against the Seahawks.

NFL sends stern warning following incident between Eagles’ Dom DiSandro, 49ers’ Dre Greenlaw

Following the #49ers-#Eagles sideline incident, the NFL sent out a memo to all 32 teams issuing a stern warning in regards to all staff understanding their roles

The NFL sent a memo to teams this week after a sideline incident involving the 49ers’ linebacker Dre Greenlaw and the Eagles’ head of security, Dom DiSandro.

“Please ensure that all members of your game-day staff understand that their role does not extend to being involved with game day altercations and that they must refrain from such involvement.”

An already intense game grew chippy after tensions escalated when Greenlaw tackled Eagles receiver DeVonta Smith after the whistle near the Philadelphia sideline.

The late hit drew a 15-yard penalty, and as players from both teams got involved in a mini-scuffle, Eagles security chief Dom DiSandro stepped in between Greenlaw and DeVonta Smith.

While separating the two, DiSandro touched Greenlaw, who took exception and shoved the Eagles’ security before things simmered down.

Greenlaw and DiSandro were ejected, and San Francisco would win 42-19.
