Tre Mann thinks he’d gel with the Rockets if the team were to use one of its three first-round picks on him.

It would be a dream scenario for former Florida star Tre Mann to learn from one of the best point guards in the NBA in John Wall. With the NBA combine this week, Mann has a chance to improve his draft stock and prove why he’s a good fit with an organization.
The Houston Rockets were the first team to work out Mann. He said that he believes he would be a good fit with the team.
The Athletic’s Sam Vecenie wrote that the former Gators standout is a “pull-up shooting savant with terrific playmaking ability.” After his workout with Houston, The Athletic’s Kelly Iko spoke with Mann.

“The workout went pretty good, it was my first one,” he said, according to The Athletic. “I was able to compete, show the team what I’m good at up close, which is creating shots for myself and my teammates. I did pretty good on three-on-three and one-on-one, so I feel it went well. Got a good feeling for it, a great way to get one under my belt and get used to it, and it was fun.”
Most prospects slated to go in the first 20 picks of the NBA draft elect not to take the court at the combine. Mann didn’t take part in five-on-five or complete athletic testing in Chicago.
“I think I could fit in Houston,” Mann said. “They’re not too deep at the point guard spot, so I could come in and contribute to the team and help out right away. We’ll see how that goes as far as the draft, but I’m sure that’s a good fit for me.”
Houston holds the No. 23 and 24 picks in this year’s NBA draft along with the No. 2 pick. The Rockets could target Mann with their second or third pick in the first round. Most NBA mock drafts have him selected near the end of the opening round.
The Athletic’s senior NBA columnist and former Memphis Grizzlies vice president of basketball operations John Hollinger wrote that Mann measured small for a shooting guard. He added that some teams have concerns about Mann’s athletic testing numbers, too.
Regardless of size or testing numbers, it would be surprising to see Mann slip out of the first round based on his shot-making ability.
