What college football Twitter think of Texas A&M’s brutal 2022 season?

Head coach Jimbo Fisher and the Texas A&M Aggies are slated to miss a bowl game for the first time since 2008. The Aggies (3-7, 1-6) are likely to finish last in the SEC West after being predicted to finish second.

Many media members projected Texas A&M to jump into the same class as Georgia and Alabama, but that has not happened.

Texas A&M has had a notable amount of turmoil this season. The Aggies suspended multiple players and have relied heavily on a number of talented freshmen. Texas A&M finished with the No. 1 recruiting class of 2022, but all that talent did not translate to wins in the SEC.

Texas A&M’s offense has been very disappointing. The Aggies have not scored more than 31 points in a game all season. Texas A&M also suffered an embarrassing defeat to Appalachian State early in the season.

What is next for Texas A&M? Will the Aggies retain Jimbo Fisher, who has a massive buyout? Fisher has done another solid job on the recruiting trail with the class of 2023. However, the Aggies could see a number of their talented players hit the transfer portal this offseason.

Georgia football in top schools for Pennsylvania’s best 2023 recruit

The Georgia Bulldogs are among the top schools for elite safety recruit Rahmir Stewart. He is a four-star recruit who plays high school football for Imhotep Institute in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Rahmir Stewart is the No. 4 ranked safety in the class of 2023. The four-star prospect is also ranked as the No. 60 overall recruit in the junior class at the moment.

As a freshman, Rahmir Stewart impressed everyone with his ball-skills, tackling, and play recognition. Stewart continues to improve and add more facets to his game.

At Imhotep Institute, Stewart shows versatility. He shows off his athleticism when he runs read-option plays from the quarterback position. He is ranked as the top class of 2023 recruit in Pennsylvania.

Will Stewart end up staying home at Penn State? Or will the top-ranked 2023 prospect in Pennsylvania head to the SEC and play for Georgia, LSU, Texas A&M, Florida, or Alabama.

The four-star Philadelphia prospect has a long time to make his decision. Rahmir Stewart is a key defensive back recruit to keep an eye on.

Georgia football staffer joining Texas A&M coaching staff

A former Georgia football player and graduate assistant Nick Williams will be joining Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M

Nick Williams, a former Georgia defensive back and graduate assistant on Kirby Smart’s staff, is joining Jimbo Fisher at Texas A&M as a defensive analyst.

This is a loss that Georgia will certainly feel in regard to recruiting. Williams was one of the main coaches responsible for reeling in elite recruits, primarily on the defensive line and in the secondary. He played a key role in landing top talent like defensive backs Kelee Ringo, Lewis Cine, Deyon Bouie and current defensive tackle commit Bear Alexander.

According to DawgNation, Williams had been working with the defensive line under assistant coach Tray Scott.

Williams played for the Bulldogs as a defensive back, linebacker and special teamer after signing with Georgia in 2008. The former three-star prospect out of Bainbridge, Georgia played three years with UGA and saw action in 32 games.

Williams will join former UGA coach James Coley (former Bulldogs offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach) and Marshal Malchow (Georgia’s former Director of Player Personnel) in College Station.

The Georgia Bulldogs are among the top five schools for defensive tackle Taleeq Robbins.

The Georgia Bulldogs are among the top five schools for defensive tackle Taleeq Robbins. Robbins is a member of the class of 2021. He is a three-star recruit who plays high school football for Imhotep Institute in Philadelphia.

Robbins announced that the University of Georgia offered him a football scholarship back in March. The 6-foot-3, 300 pound defensive lineman is ranked as the 18th best player in Pennsylvania and the No. 44 defensive tackle in the 2021 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

Robbins has received numerous scholarship offers and is expected to decide soon. He is favored to commit to the Texas A&M Aggies. Don’t count out the Georgia Bulldogs, who are recruiting Philadelphia quite well. Kirby Smart has added increased emphasis on recruiting the talented area and still needs his first defensive tackle commitment in the class of 2021.

As a high school junior, Robbins recorded 40 tackles, three sacks, and one fumble recovery.

Robbins puts the Georgia Bulldogs, NC State Wolfpack, Texas A&M Aggies, Arizona State Sun Devils, and Ole Miss Rebels in his top five. We will monitor his recruiting moving forward.

Athlon Sports releases 2020 CFB rankings: Projects Florida ahead of Georgia

Athlon Sports released its 2020 college football top-25 and projected the Florida Gators to finish above the Georgia Bulldogs.

Athlon Sports recently released its list of the top-25 college football teams going into the 2020 football season, saying the list specifically represents where they think these teams will finish the season.

From Athlon:

This is not a preseason ranking of teams going into the season. Instead, this ranking takes into account where we project teams to finish after the national championship in January

The SEC is represented six times. Alabama is at No. 2 behind projected national champion Clemson. LSU is at No. 8, Texas A&M No. 11 and Auburn at No. 13.

Most notably, Georgia, the three-time SEC East defending champion, is ranked at No. 7, behind Florida at No. 6.

Athlon Sports stated its reason for putting the Gators ahead of the Bulldogs, even though Florida hasn’t won in Jacksonville in three years, is because of the SEC crossover games and staff continuity.

“Georgia has an edge in overall roster talent,” Athlon Sports wrote. “But the Gators have a small advantage in crossover play (at home versus LSU compared to at Alabama for the Bulldogs) and coach Dan Mullen’s team has more continuity in staff and scheme.”

I suppose Athlon Sports has a point, a Joe Burrow-less LSU at home won’t be as tough as Alabama in Tuscaloosa. However, the SEC East runs through Jacksonville and Georgia has held the keys for the last three years.

And as far as continuity goes, the Bulldogs came into the 2019 season with a new offensive coordinator and still took care of business in Jacksonville.

Georgia and Florida meet this year on Halloween from TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville, Florida.

The Athletic ranked the best coaches in college football, but did they rank Georgia football’s Kirby Smart too low?

This week, Stewart Mandel and Bruce Feldman of The Athletic ranked college football’s top coaches.

Kirby Smart checked in relatively high on both lists, but is he high enough?

Kirby Smart addresses Georgia football’s offensive woes

Georgia faithful still wonder how the much longer the Dawgs’ D can bail out the struggling offense.

Georgia’s 2019 defense is a statistical anomaly. The Junkyard Dawgs will enter their final regular season game ranked fifth in total defense, second in rushing defense, seventh in passing efficiency defense, and have only allowed one rushing touchdown.

The Bulldog Nation thoroughly enjoys watching a defense that can guarantee a win requiring only 21 points. Georgia is one of two teams (Clemson being the other) that hasn’t given up more than 20 points thus far this season.

That said, Georgia faithful still wonder how the much longer the Dawgs’ D can bail out the struggling offense.

Head coach Kirby Smart acknowledged the fans’ echoed concerns after the Silver Britches’ lackluster offense.

“There were things [against Texas A&M] that we missed that were there. That’s the frustrating thing.”

He continued: “You get an opportunity on first and ten to make the plays that we had, and you’ve got to make those.”

Smart, obviously aware of the situation, added that “some of that had nothing to to with the calls…it had to do with execution.”

“[The defense] got tired toward the end of the game. We’re going to have to overcome that, because two weeks in a row now, we’ve kind of lost momentum late and struggled on a couple drives.”

Quarterback Jake Fromm has thrown under 50% for three consecutive games. Compared to his career percentage of 65.5%, the current trend is surprising.

“Offensively, we’ve got to improve. There’s no bones about it.” Smart The message this week is that the next step is the most important step.”

Today will be the day a number of Georgia seniors and juniors will play their final game in Athens.

The Bulldogs host Texas A&M at 3:30 on Saturday in what will be Georgia’s last SEC game of the season before taking on Georgia Tech in Atlanta next Saturday.
