Alabama football: 5 freshmen to watch

Here are the 5 freshmen you should be keeping a close eye on this fall!

August has finally arrived, which means the college football season is just around the corner.

Alabama will begin fall camp in just a few days and with each new season, opportunities are presented for some of those talented first-year players to make an early name for themselves.

With all that being said, I thought it would be a good time to compile a list of a handful of freshmen that I will be paying extra attention to in camp. These are guys who could have an impact almost immediately, in no particular order.

Let’s get started, shall we?

Five-star S Terrion Arnold makes commitment

Five-star safety Terrion Arnold from Tallahassee, Florida, has committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide over Georgia and Florida.

Five-star safety Terrion Arnold from John Paul II Catholic High School in Tallahassee, Florida, has committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide. Arnold was Georgia’s top remaining target in the class of 2021.

Arnold is a versatile prospect, who has spent some time playing cornerback and wide receiver in addition to safety. The five-star exhibits impressive ball skills in jump ball situations. He’s a willing tackler and has the ability to play as a freshman.

Arnold was considering Georgia, Alabama, and Florida. The No. 2 rated safety in the country announced his commitment on ESPN. Arnold’s decision isn’t shocking, but he cements Alabama’s recruiting class as one of the best ever.

Nick Saban and Alabama football aren’t going anywhere for a long time. That’s bad news for Georgia and the rest of college football.

Georgia’s 2021 national signing day has been a quite one. Fortunately, the Bulldogs landed a commitment from four-star defensive tackle Bear Alexander.

Alabama 5-star DB target sets commitment date, time

Five-star safety Terrion Arnold has set a commitment date and time. Will it be the Crimson Tide?

Alabama already has the top recruiting class for the 2021 cycle. More reinforcements in the secondary would be welcomed, however, and that is exactly what five-star safety Terrion Arnold would provide.

The Tallahassee, Fla. native is down to three schools: Alabama, Florida and Georgia. As of right now, it looks like the Crimson Tide and Gators have a slight lead, but we now have an end in sight.

Back on Friday, Arnold announced a commitment time and date via his Twitter account. It looks like that will be on Feb. 3 at 4 p.m. ET, and it will be aired live on ESPN.

Arnold is listed as a five-star prospect and the nation’s No. 25 overall player (No. 2 safety) for the class of 2021, according to 247Sports. The composite rankings don’t have him quite as high (four-star, No. 104 and No. 5 safety).

If Nick Saban and company can land Arnold, it would take the list of secondary additions to another level. He would joining the following group of talented freshman coming in:

  • Ga’Quincy McKinstry (5-star / No. 17 / No. 1 CB)
  • Kadarius Calloway (4-star / No. 136 / No. 4 ATH)
  • Devonta Smith (4-star / No. 256 / No. 20 CB)
  • Khyree Jackson (3-star / No. 2 JUCO CB)

Stay tuned.

Georgia football makes 4-star DB Terrion Arnolds’ list of top schools

Georgia football has been named in 4-star DB Terrion Arnolds’ list of top schools. Details here

2021 four-star safety Terrion Arnold (John Paul II Catholic High School) from Tallahassee, Florida, listed his top-11 schools on his Twitter account on Friday, which included the University of Georgia.

Arnold wrote:

As most people know I have been taking my recruitment slow and trying to find the best fit for me. With that being said these are the schools I will be continuing with… The journey is just beginning #11

Arnold, an Under Armor All-American, is rated the No. 10 player in Florida, the No. 2 safety and the No. 85 prospect overall in the 2021 recruiting class, according to 247Sports.

As one of the elite defensive back prospects for 2021, Arnold has plenty of interest from some of the top programs in the country.

He holds 44 offers, including ones from Alabama, Florida State and Florida – which are all rumored to be in the lead to sign Arnold as of now.

Making Arnold’s list is great for the Bulldogs, especially because of how Georgia’s secondary, while strong, may be losing several key players to the NFL next year – Eric Stokes, Tyson Campbell and Richard LeCounte to name a few.
