2023 NFL draft: Giants undrafted rookie free agent tracker

The rush to sign undrafted rookie free agents is underway! Here’s a live 2023 tracker for the New York Giants.

The 2023 NFL draft has officially come to a close and the frenzy to sign undrafted rookie free agents (UDFA) is underway.

For general manager Joe Schoen and the New York Giants, they’ll look to add several players prior to the start of rookie mini-camp which will take place from May 5-6 in East Rutherford.

“I think you tie in free agency and you tie in the draft and I’m excited to go upstairs and see where we are on some undrafted free agents,” general manager Joe Schoen said after the draft.

It’s important to note that UDFA signings are not announced by the NFL, so some initial reports may be incorrect, changed or, unfortunately, outright faked. Until the Giants/NFL themselves announce the signings, these should all be considered rumors and subject to change.

As signings and rookie mini-camp invites are reported, we’ll update this article. So keep refreshing.

Everything Steve Sarkisian said after Thrusday’s practice

Here is everything Sarkisian discussed on Thursday.

We are a little over a week until Texas takes the field against UL Monroe in the season opener on Sept. 3.

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian updated the media about the progression of his team after practice on Thursday.

Sarkisian gave praise to multiple players in his presser. He mentioned quarterback Quinn Ewers, wide receiver Tarique Milton and defensive end Ethan Burke as guys who are developing well at this point in camp. Ewers won the starting job over Hudson Card last week and has taken the starting reps since.

The kicking battle between Will Stone and Brett Auburn will continue leading up to the start of the season. Sarkisian is going to make that decision on who will handle field goal and kickoff duties close to game day.

Texas’ weekend practice will consist of a “mock game” where players will go through the gameday routine as final preparations for the 2022 season.

Here is everything Sarkisian discussed on Thursday.

Texas players that will need to step up following injuries

Recent injuries all but guarantee at least one freshman will start the season opener.

Texas received bad news Sunday afternoon.

Per reports, gifted and hard-working receiver transfer Isaiah Neyor and indispensable leader Junior Angilau could both be dealing with a season-ending knee injury.

Steve Sarkisian will no doubt sympathize with the players, but will be also tasked with putting a team on the field in three weeks.

One of the deepest positions on the team appears to be dwindling down. Neyor’s injury and Agiye Hall’s suspension leave a vacancy at wide receiver I am not sure who will fill.

There is one Isaiah Neyor on this team. Savion Red has emerged as a potential impact player but likely will play in the slot. Jordan Whittington, Tarique Milton and Brenen Thompson also figure to play from the slot.

Outside of those four Texas could turn to Casey Cain, Troy Omeire or Jahleel Billingsley to play on the outside. Cain is still unproven, while injuries have derailed Omeire’s past playing opportunities.

As for Billingsley, the talented pass catcher presumably would have to learn an entirely new position.

Here’s a look at players who may be called upon to step up in the absence of injured players.

Which transfer players are the safest bets to contribute in 2022

This transfer class seems different than any group of transfers to Texas in recent memory.

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian was active in improving the team through the transfer portal in 2022. Adding transfer players is not a new practice, but this class seemed different than any group of transfers in recent memory.

First off, Sarkisian brought in a number of proven players. In fact, nearly every player has contributed significantly to their past team.

In past years, Texas fans bought into the transfer hype for more than one player who showed promise on the field. Tarik Black was lauded for his high school upside and early production, but it never translated to the field at Texas.

Heading into the 2022 season, let’s take a look at which players you can expect to contribute immediately on the Forty Acres, on a scale of 1-10.

The most difficult formations for Texas’ opponents to defend in 2022

Football is a chess match, and Steve Sarkisian is starting with more pieces than most of his opponents this year.

The Texas Longhorns will win games by creating matchup problems in 2022. They have built a team to exploit any opponent’s deficiencies.

Football is a chess match, and Steve Sarkisian is starting with more pieces than most of his opponents this year.

Each of his offensive weapons brings varying abilities to the table. Tarique Milton, Brenen Thompson and Jordan Whittington should rack up yards after catch with their elite speed and quickness. Xavier Worthy, Isaiah Neyor and Agiye Hall are dangerous home-run threats as downfield targets.

At tight end, Ja’Tavion Sanders and Jahleel Billingsley have exceptional athleticism and catching ability for their position.

Texas’ four running backs are all difficult to bring down. The group has strength, speed or a combination.

Let’s look at which formations will bring out the best from Texas’ skill positions.

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian is building versatility, not just depth, at wide receiver

Five summer additions ready to make an impact for Texas football in 2022

These guys have the chance to make an early impact this fall.

Texas did a masterful job this offseason making upgrades to the roster. Steve Sarkisian and his coaching staff have utilized both the transfer portal and the high school ranks to add some key pieces to the program.

We got a taste of what some of the early enrollees could do in the spring game as the transfer group of Quinn Ewers, Isaiah Neyor, Jahleel Billingsley and Ryan Watts all flashed playmaking ability. Freshman defensive lineman Justice Finkley and running back Jaydon Blue earned plenty of praise from Sark throughout spring ball as well.

The remaining group of the newcomers have arrived and are eager for the start of summer workouts. Transfer pickups Agiye Hall, Tarique Milton and Diamonte Tucker-Dorsey join the No. 5 ranked recruiting class in the 2022 cycle. The final group of fresh faces could be what Texas is missing to compete for a Big 12 title this season.

Here is a list of five summer additions ready to make an early impact for the Longhorns in 2022.
