Jeremiah Holloman trolls Gary Danielson on Twitter

The former UGA football receiver had his name mistaken by Danielson.

During CBS’ broadcast of the SEC Championship game, color commentator Gary Danielson mistakenly referred to former UGA receiver Jeremiah Holloman as Jeremiah Holloway.

Holloman took the opportunity to troll Danielson on Twitter.

Holloman was released for the team following an allegation of domestic violence last year, and currently plays football for Florida Atlantic.

Georgia player accidentally levels Kirby Smart during celebration

Down goes Kirby.

Down 7-0 in the SEC championship game against LSU, the Georgia Bulldogs thought they had recovered a fumble in dangerous territory after running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire lost the ball as he was going to the ground. Georgia’s Lewis Cine grabbed the ball and ran to his sideline to celebrate, where head coach Kirby Smart leapt into the air to bump into Cine in celebration.

Cine, who is one of Georgia’s smaller players at 185 pounds, crashed into Smart and appeared to send his coach crashing to the ground just as the CBS feed cut to a different shot.

Unfortunately for Georgia, the fumble was reviewed and Edwards-Helaire was ruled to be down before the ball came out. Fans watching the game couldn’t believe that CBS didn’t show a replay of the collision.

Georgia vs. LSU

  • Time: 4:00 p.m. ET
  • TV: CBS

Both teams are well balanced. However, it is obvious where their strengths lie. The Bulldogs (11-1) led the SEC in total defense, scoring defense, rushing defense and pass efficiency defense. However, LSU (12-0) is an entirely different animal, especially with Heisman front-runner Joe Burrow at quarterback. The Tigers lead the SEC in total offense and scoring offense, and Burrow has set the leagueā€™s single-season passing yardage record.

After Georgiaā€™s regular-season finale against Georgia Tech, plenty of attention has been on the health of running back Dā€™Andre Swift. He left last Saturdayā€™s game with a left shoulder injury in the third quarter and didn’t return. While Georgia head coach Kirby Smart said after the game that Swift should be fine for the Championship game,Ā  he said on Monday that the team was ā€œhopefulā€ heā€™d be able to play. The team’s leading receiver in yardage and touchdowns, George Pickens, will miss the first half of the Championship game after being ejected in the third quarter of last weekendā€™s matchup for throwing punches.

Now with his focus squarely on Georgia, LSU head coach Ed Orgeron said on Monday that heā€™s impressed with the Bulldogs on both sides of the ball, especially the offensive and defensive lines that he believes are the best the Tigers have seen all year. Orgeron made it clear heā€™s aware that Georgia quarterback Jake Fromm has completed less than 50 percent of his passes in the last four games, but isnā€™t underestimating the quarterback.

The last time LSU was in the Championship game came in 2011 in which it got a 42-11 win over Georgia. The Bulldogs have been in the game the last three seasons and won the Championship in 2017 vs. Auburn.

Rodrigo Blankenship wins Lou Groza Fan Vote

UGA kicker Rodrigo Blankenship won the fan vote for the kicking award.

The Lou Groza award goes out annually to the best kicker in college football. As part of the voting process, a fan vote is collected, and whoever wins that is given an extra vote on the final ballot count.

This year, to the surprise of no one, Georgia kicker and fan favorite Rodrigo Blankenship took home the fan vote.

Blankenship has been consistent all year for the Dawgs and hopes to have a big impact in the upcoming SEC Championship Game. Let’s hope this extra vote on the final ballot will help him bring home the award.

Georgia football SECCG: Expert picks and predictions (UGA vs LSU)

The UGA Wire staff has put together a list of expert picks and predictions ahead of Georgia Football’s game vs LSU for the SEC Championship.

Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs have won the SEC East three straight years, earning them their third straight SEC Championship game vs LSU, this Saturday at 4:00 p.m. EST at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, GA.

Besides former Bulldog Justin Fields and Ohio State, LSU has been the hottest team of the 2019 college football season.Ā  The #2 Tigers are 12-0 on the season including wins over Florida, Auburn and Alabama.

Georgia comes into the game a bit banged up and not exactly peaking at the right time.Ā  The Dawgs will be without senior WR Lawrence Cager who underwent ankle surgery as well as freshman WR George Pickens who was suspended for the first half for on-field incidents.Ā  Those are the Dawgs top two receivers on the year.

D’Andre Swift also left the Georgia Tech game with a shoulder injury but should hopefully be back for Saturday’s matchup.

LSU QB Joe Burrow has been putting up exceptional numbers for the Tigers as he currently sits in 2nd for the Heisman Trophy race.Ā  Burrow has a total QBR of 93.4 and has thrown for 4,366 yards, 44 TDs and 6 INTs on the season.

Kirby will need to draw up a near flawless game plan and Jake Fromm needs to find his guy in a shallow receiving core if the Dawgs want to pull this one out and secure a spot in the College Football Playoff.

The UGA Wire staff has put together a list of score, stat and game predictions ahead of Saturdays matchup.

Here are the picks:

Ed Orgeron previews Georgia football and SEC Championship Game

LSU head coach Ed Orgeron previews Georgia football, 2019 SEC Championship Game Saturday December 7th at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

In a press conference with LSU head coach Ed Orgeron, Orgeron talked Kirby Smart, Jake Fromm, Dawgs defense and more, previewing Saturday’s matchup for the SEC Championship.

Orgeron and the #2 ranked Tigers are 12-0 on the season (8-0 SEC) and come into the game favored by 7.5 points.

ā€œTheyā€™re going to play their best, man,ā€ said coach Orgeron. ā€œThis is their third time here in a row. Theyā€™re going to be hungry. Theyā€™re well-coached. We beat them last year, so they have a little chip on their shoulder. Know what Iā€™m saying?ā€

The Dawgs lost a tough one last year in Death Valley by a score of 36-16.  On the similarities of the matchup, coach O acknowledged that a lot can change in a year.

“Whole different time, whole different circumstance.ā€

Coach Orgeron knows more about the Dawgs players than you’d think.  Although they don’t usually meet in the regular season, many of his opponents’ toughest matchup of the year is Georgia, having Coach O watching plenty of Dawgs film.

ā€œAgain on defense, by far the best defense weā€™ve seen. 10 points per game. They basically are a 4-3, some 3-4. Only giving up 257 a game. Tyler Clark and their defensive line, I watch them all the time, because I watch opponentsā€™ offensive line.ā€

Coach O is also very familiar with Georgia’s Kirby Smart.

“A lot of respect for Kirby and the job heā€™s done… Go against him recruiting, know the players heā€™s recruiting. Know the type of coaches he has on his staff. Well-coached football team, very athletic.ā€

A question came up wondering if Orgeron believed his team would still be in the playoff even with a loss to Georgia.  Coach O was having absolutely none of that.

ā€œNot even thinking about it,ā€ Orgeron said. ā€œUh-huh. Iā€™m not buying into that at all. We got to win. I donā€™t know if we got to win to get in the playoffs or not. Iā€™m not even talking about that. Our goal is to beat Georgia and win the SEC, then letā€™s see what happens.

Two well coached teams collide on the gridiron in Atlanta for the SEC Championship this Saturday, December 7th at 4:00 p.m. EST.

Georgia football fans expected to take over SEC Championship

UGA football fans are expected to take over the SEC Championship in Atlanta

If you’ve been following along with the Georgia Bulldogs this season, you probably already know about the impressive takeovers fans have made at Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Auburn and Georgia Tech.

Now, it’s time to turn our attention to the SEC Championship game, which is supposed to be played at a neutral-site in Mercedes Stadium.

However, Vivid Seats has informed us that the forecasted fan ratio is 69% Georgia fans (nice) and 31% LSU fans on Saturday.

If this is true, we expect a pretty significant Bulldog advantage over the Tigers in crowd noise, which could play a factor in the game. Earlier in the week, Coach Ed Orgeron mentioned he was getting his team ready for the noise at practice, but even that might not be enough for what is about to come.

ā€œWe will have crowd noise on Tuesday, Wednesday. Be very well-prepared for all the Georgia fight songs they’ll play on our field all week.ā€

Can the Dawg Nation help lead this Georgia team to victory? We’ll see, but it’s certainly not going to be easy.

Go Dawgs!
