Big sports bettor wagers $55,000 on Chase Young to win Defensive Rookie of the Year

There are high expectations for Chase Young in his rookie season, and one bettor is putting their money where their mouth is with confidence.

With the NFL season just a couple of weeks away, many sports bettors are starting to place their wagers across the country with a number of futures bets in their sights.

One of the bigger bets that was placed recent came from New Jersey, where someone put down a whopping $55,000 on Washington’s Chase Young to win the Defensive Rookie of the Year award at +220 odds. If you plug that into a betting calculator, a win on that bet would pay out $176,000 before taxes.

While the dollar amount may be a bit shocking, it’s not a surprise to see the confidence in Young’s ability to have a stellar rookie season start to grow. After a legendary college career, Young has been a stand-out already in practice, and he seems to be transitioning well to the NFL.

We don’t know who this big-bettor is, but I think I can speak for everyone in Washington when I wish them the best of luck in their wagering on this one.

Updated betting odds given for Washington’s next team name

A list of betting odds have been given for what name Washington will likely go with for their next team name.

If you’re a fan of both the Washington Redskins, and the occasional sports gambling wager, you’re in luck.

Amidst the news that Washington is potentially/likely to change its team name before the 2020 season, a number of sites have released odds on what the next name will be. At OddsShark, they have a complete list of options, set with handicaps.

‘Redtails’ is out in the lead, and it seems to have the most favor among fans, many of whom are fascinated by its backstory of a WWII Tuskegee Airmen group that was the first African American aviators in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Other options like the Presidents, Generals, or Memorials have been mentioned, but they don’t feel like great options. Some names that are not on the aforementioned list that seem to be popular on social media are Warriors, Redspears, Sentinels, or Braves. Some are against the Warriors’ name since it is already commonly known as the Golden State team who has been so dominant recently in the NBA, and the Braves would be a switch back to the old, as that was the Redskins name before the first initial change.

The two teams play completely different styles of football. For Georgia to win this game, it will need to control the clock, run the ball on LSU and force Joe Burrow and the Tigers’ offense to watch from the sideline. If that happens, I like Georgia’s chances. If Georgia’s offense sputters and proves incapable of converting on third down, then the Dawgs will be in trouble.

We can count on our defense to give us as good of a shot as possible, but if the offense does not help them out then things could get ugly.

This Saturday, No. 4 Georgia (10-1) will be playing Georgia Tech (3-8) in Atlanta for its final regular season game of the 2019 season.

The Bulldogs opened as 28.5 point favorites over the Yellow Jackets, according to BetMGM. The over/under has been set at 46.5.

This will be the 113th meeting between the two in the rivalry known as Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate. Georgia has beaten its little brother in 15 of the last 18 outings (Tech’s only three wins were by one point, six points in overtime and three points).

Makes you wonder why we still hear from them each offseason. If they were so smart you’d think they’d be better at picking their battles.

It’s looking like another Georgia win is coming. The Jackets are 3-8, but for some reason incredibly confident right now after beating a 4-7 NC State team by two points.

Georgia has only beaten three teams by 29 or more points this season – Murray State, Arkansas State and Tennessee. Georgia Tech is bad, probably about and bad as Tennessee was at the time of that game, but the Dawgs just have not been blowing teams out this season.
