Seattle Kraken at Los Angeles Kings odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Seattle Kraken at Los Angeles Kings odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Seattle Kraken (31-30-13) make the 2nd stop on a 3-game road trip Wednesday against the Los Angeles Kings (38-25-11) at Crypto.com Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. ET (TNT). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Kraken vs. Kings odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Season series: Tied 1-1

The Kraken doubled up the San Jose Sharks on Monday by a 4-2 score in the Bay Area, winning for the 3rd time in the past 4 games. Those victories have come against teams not currently in the playoff race, however. In the past 12 games, Seattle is 3-7-2 since March 8.

The Kings suffered a 4-3 loss on the road against the Winnipeg Jets, and they’ve dropped the past 3 outings. The Over cashed in that loss, and the total has ended up going high in 5 of the past 7 outings.

Seattle has won 4 of the past 6 meetings since the start of the 2022-23 season, with 4 of the past 5 games decided by a single goal. The Under has cashed in 5 of the past 6 meetings.

  • Over/Under: 5.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Kraken at Kings projected goalies

Philipp Grubauer (12-13-2, 2.89 GAA, .898 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Cam Talbot (23-18-6, 2.48 GAA, .915 SV%, 3 SO)

Grubauer allowed just 2 goals on 26 shots in Monday’s 4-2 win in San Jose. He has won the past 2 outings, kicking aside 45 of the 49 shots he has faced. Grubauer has actually been much better on the road, going 6-5-1 with a 2.57 GAA and .912 SV% in 12 starts, while posting a 6-8-1 record, 3.14 GAA and .887 SV% in 17 home outings.

Talbot is the likely backstop for Wednesday’s game. He was tripped up for 4 goals on 32 shots in a 4-3 loss in Winnipeg on Monday, and he has dropped his past 2 starts after a 4-game win streak. He is 1-1-0 with a 1.97 GAA and .918 SV% in 2 outings against Seattle this season.

Kraken at Kings picks and predictions

Prediction

Kings 4, Kraken 2

Moneyline

The Kings (-185) are a little on the pricey side, costing nearly 2 times your potential return. There is plenty of risk, too, as the road team has won 4 straight meetings in this series.

The Kraken (+150) can’t be trusted, however, as Seattle has posted a dismal 3-7-2 mark in the past 12 games, picking up just 8 points out of a possible 24 available.

AVOID.

Puck line/Against the spread

The KINGS -1.5 (+135) are worth a roll of the dice, although play them lightly. Again, 4 of the past 5 meetings in this series have been decided by a single goal.

However, the Kraken +1.5 (-165) are really struggling lately, and Seattle has cobbled together 3 wins in the past 4 games, although it hasn’t beaten a winning team since March 5.

Over/Under

OVER 5.5 (-110) is the lean in this Pacific Division battle.

The Over and Under have alternated in the past 6 games for the Kraken. For the Kings, though, they’re driving this Over train, as the total has gone high in 5 of the past 7 games, averaging 3.6 goals per game (GPG), while allowing 4 goals in each of the past 3 outings.

Seattle Kraken at Tampa Bay Lightning odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Seattle Kraken at Tampa Bay Lightning odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Seattle Kraken (2-5-2) wrap up a 4-game road trip against the Tampa Bay Lightning (4-2-2) Monday at Amalie Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Kraken vs. Lightning odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Kraken haven’t had a great road trip. Seattle won 5-4 in overtime last Tuesday at Detroit, but it suffered a 3-2 OT loss in Carolina on Thursday, and a 3-2 setback at Florida on Saturday. The Kraken has scored 2 or fewer goals in 7 of its 9 games to date, with the Under going 7-2.

The Lightning have not only won the past 2 games, but Jonas Johansson has posted shutouts in both outings against the Carolina Hurricanes and San Jose Sharks. It’s the first time this season that the Under has cashed in consecutive games for the Lightning.

  • Puck line (PL)/Against the spread (ATS): Kraken +1.5 (-176) | Lightning -1.5 (+146)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 6.5 (O: +100 | U: -122)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Kraken at Lightning projected goalies

Joey Daccord (2-1-2, 2.88 GAA, .912 SV%) vs. Jonas Johansson (4-1-2, 2.56 GAA, .925 SV%, 2 SO)

Daccord was on the short end of Saturday’s 3-2 loss at Florida, although he was solid with 35 saves on 38 shots. In fact, he has had 32 or more saves in 3 of the past 4 games, but he has received just 4 total goals of support in the past 2 games, both losses.

Johansson has been filling in admirably for the injured Andrei Vasileskiy, posting 2 straight shutouts. The last goal he allowed was an OT winner by the Maple Leafs on Oct. 21, so he is working on a scoreless streak of exactly 120:00.

Kraken at Lightning picks and predictions

Prediction

Lightning 4, Kraken 1

Moneyline

The LIGHTNING (-162) are a strong play at home against the skidding Kraken (+134).

Tampa Bay has posted a 3-0-2 record in the past 5 outings, last losing in regulation back on Oct. 15 in Ottawa in the NHL debut of G Matt Tomkins.

Puck line/Against the spread

The LIGHTNING -1.5 (+146) are worth playing lightly on the puck line. Tampa Bay has managed just a 2-2 mark in 4 games as a favorite on the puck line, so tread lightly.

In addition, the Kraken +1.5 (-176) might not be ticking off a lot of wins, but Seattle is 4-1 on the puck line as an underdog in the past 5 outings, so there is risk here.

Over/Under

UNDER 6.5 (-122) is worth a look based on Seattle’s inability to score goals, and Johansson’s ability to keep anybody from scoring on him lately.

For the Kraken, the Under is 7-2 in 9 games overall, while going 5-1 in 6 road outings. As far as the Lightning is concerned, the Under has hit in each of the past 2 contests, while going 3-1-2 in the past 6 games overall.

Seattle Kraken at Florida Panthers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Seattle Kraken at Florida Panthers odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Seattle Kraken (2-4-2) make the 3rd stop of a 4-game road trip against the Florida Panthers (3-3-0) Saturday at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Fla. Puck drop is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Kraken vs. Panthers odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Kraken were on the short end of a 3-2 OT loss Thursday at Carolina, and they have alternated losses and wins in the past 5 outings. Seattle has had difficulty at the defensive end and in the goaltending department, allowing 3 or more goals in 5 straight outings, and 7 of 8 games overall.

The Panthers righted the ship with a 3-1 win over the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday, and Florida will be well rested heading into this home game. The Cats have won 2 of 3 games at the newly-christened Amerant Bank Arena, sandwiching a pair of 3-1 victory around a 5-3 setback to the Vancouver Canucks. The Under is 2-1 in 3 home dates for the Panthers, too.

  • Over/Under (O/U): 6.5 (O: -120 | U: +100)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Kraken at Panthers projected goalies

Philipp Grubauer (0-4-0, 3.04 GAA, .896 SV%) vs. Sergei Bobrovsky (2-3-0, 3.06 GAA, .899 SV%)

Grubauer was on the short end of a 4-1 loss against the New York Rangers last Saturday. He has lost all 4 of his starts, but 3 of the assignments came against the Rangers, Colorado Avalanche and Vegas Golden Knights, some of the top teams in the NHL. To make matters worse, the Kraken have managed just 3 total goals of offensive support in his 4 outings.

Bobrovsky is confirmed to start Saturday’s game. He last appeared last Saturday, turning aside 26 of the 30 shots he faced against the Canucks. Bob has been up and down, picking up wins over the Toronto Maple Leafs and the New Jersey Devils before that.

Kraken at Panthers picks and predictions

Prediction

Panthers 4, Kraken 2

Moneyline

The PANTHERS (-145) are worth playing as moderate favorites. Both goaltenders enter this one well rested, having last appeared a full week ago. Trust Bobrovsky more, not only because he is at home, but because he has been receiving much better offensive support, too.

The Kraken (+120) have won just once in the past 8 tries on the road, while going 1-5 in the previous 6 when working on a day of rest.

Puck line/Against the spread

The PANTHERS -1.5 (+155) are worth a look, but play them lightly.

Florida won and covered the puck line as the favorite against San Jose Tuesday behind backup goalie Anthony Stolarz.

For the Kraken +1.5 (-190) have covered the puck line in the past 2 games as an underdog, and they’re 3-4 on the puck line to date.

Over/Under

UNDER 6.5 (+100) is worth a look, especially at plus-money. That’s hard to pass up that kind of value.

The Under has cashed in 6 of 8 games overall for Seattle, while the Under has cashed in 2 of the first 3 games on the current homestand for Florida.

Seattle Kraken at Carolina Hurricanes odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Seattle Kraken at Carolina Hurricanes odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Seattle Kraken (2-4-1) play the 2nd game of a 4-game road trip against the Carolina Hurricanes (3-4-0) Thursday at PNC Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Kraken vs. Hurricanes odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Kraken stumbled out of the gate with an 0-3-1 mark, totaling just 3 goals during the span. The Under cashed in all 4 of those outings. It all turned around in a 7-4 win against the Hurricanes at Climate Pledge Arena last Thursday, and Seattle has managed 13 total goals in the past 3 games, cashing the Over twice.

The Hurricanes opened the season with 28 goals scored and 30 goals allowed, cashing the Over in all 6 contests. However, Carolina really was on fumes at the end of a 6-game losing streak, bottoming out with a 3-0 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning to wrap up the trip on Tuesday.

  • Over/Under (O/U): 6.5 (O: +100 | U: -120)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Kraken at Hurricanes projected goalies

Philipp Grubauer (0-4-0, 3.04 GAA, .896 SV%) vs. Frederik Andersen (2-0-0, 4.14 GAA, .855 SV%)

Grubauer has been on the short end of all 4 starts. He has coughed up 3 or fewer goals in 3 of his 4 outings, but the offense has provided him with just 3 total goals of support. He went 0-2-0 with a 4.05 GAA and .890 SV% in 2 starts against Carolina last season.

Andersen hasn’t played since leaving the game Oct. 17 in San Jose after taking a hard shot to the mask. He had won his 1st 2 starts, although he allowed 8 goals on 60 shots in those outings.

Kraken at Hurricanes picks and predictions

Prediction

Kraken 4, Hurricanes 3

Moneyline

The KRAKEN (+165) are worth playing as moderate underdogs in Raleigh.

Seattle really took it to Carolina in the 1st meeting last week in the Pacific Northwest, getting instantly well on the offensive end with a season-high 7 goals. If Andersen does indeed get the starting nod, there could be a little bit of rust. Even so, whomever is in between the pipes, the Hurricanes have allowed 33 goals across just 7 games, so they cannot be trusted right now.

Puck line/Against the spread

The KRAKEN +1.5 (-155) aren’t a bad option on the puck line, if you just cannot bring yourself to play Seattle straight up, and you would prefer some insurance.

The Hurricanes -1.5 (+130) are not the play. Carolina has managed a 1-4 mark on the puck line in the past 5 when favored, with the lone cover a 6-3 win against lowly San Jose, who just happens to be the opponent coming in Friday in the 2nd end of the back-to-back situation.

Over/Under

The OVER 6.5 (+100) is worth a look at even-money.

While the Under cashed last time out in Tampa in the shutout loss, the Over is still 6-1 in 7 games for Carolina overall, including a combined 11 goals in Seattle.

The Kraken started off slowly with 4 straight Under results, but the Over is 2-1 across the past 3 contests.

Colorado Avalanche at Seattle Kraken odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Colorado Avalanche at Seattle Kraken odds and lines, with NHL expert picks and predictions.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Colorado Avalanche (2-0) and Seattle Kraken (0-2-1) tangle in a Western Conference battle Tuesday. The opening puck drop at Climate Pledge Arena is slated for 10 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Avalanche vs. Kraken odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Colorado is closing out a 3-game road trip to open the 2023-24 season. The Avalanche, who went 29-11-1 on the road last season, have 89 shots on goal through 2 games.

Seattle is playing its home opener after 3 games on the road. The Kraken, who have scored just 2 goals so far, went 2-1-1 against the Avs last season.

Avalanche at Kraken projected goalies

Alexandar Georgiev (2-0-0, 1.45 GAA, .947 SV%) vs. Philipp Grubauer (0-2-0, 2.55 GAA, .918 SV%)

Georgiev has stopped 54-of-57 shots so far. He clocked a 2.35 GAA and .918 SV% last season. Both were career bests for the NHL veteran who earned a career-high 62 games in net.

Grubauer is coming off allowing just 2 goals on 34 shots at the Nashville Predators Thursday. The former Avs netminder (2018-21) logged a .928 SV% against Colorado last season.

Avalanche at Kraken picks and predictions

Prediction

Avalanche 4, Kraken 3

Moneyline

A Colorado club that piled up 109 points in winning the 2023 Central Division crown was ousted by Seattle in the opening round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Look for the Avalanche — who were sharp in their opener and 0-for-5 on the powerplay in a strange 2nd game — to come out strong in a retribution effort.

The Avs’ road prowess is something they’ll want to flaunt again in 2023-24. And Seattle may be due some puck luck, but some regression in goals allowed also seems likely based on the quality scoring chances it is yielding.

BACK COLORADO (-155).

Puck line/Against the spread

Would want a better return on the Avs here. PASS.

Over/Under

Mixed signals underpinning this one. Not enough data in yet. AVOID.

Seattle Kraken at Nashville Predators odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Seattle Kraken at Nashville Predators odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Seattle Kraken (0-1) and Nashville Predators (0-1) play their 2nd games of the season Thursday at Bridgestone Arena. Puck drop is set for 8 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Kraken vs. Predators odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Kraken were drowned 4-1 by the defending-champs Vegas Golden Knights in their season opener Tuesday. LW James McCann scored the only goal in the rematch of the Western Conference Finals. Seattle surprised everyone by outlasting the Colorado Avalanche and Dallas Stars in the playoffs. We’ll see how they do with the spotlight now on them this season.

The Preds lost a tough game in their opener, 5-3 to the Tampa Bay Lightning. They had a 2-1 lead early in the 3rd period, despite only having 5 shots on goal through the 1st half of the game. Tampa netted 4 in the final frame to seal the deal. Newly acquired C Ryan O’Reilly had a goal and an assist in his team debut.

  • Puck line (PL)/Against the spread (ATS): Kraken +1.5 (-275) | Predators -1.5 (+220)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 6 (O: -120 | U: +100)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Kraken at Predators projected goalies

Philipp Grubauer (0-1-0, 3.02 GAA, .889 SV%) vs. Juuse Saros (0-1-0, 4.19 GAA, .879 SV%)

Grubauer allowed 3 goals on 27 shots in the season opener. One of them was a bad turnover in his own end on a failed clearing attempt. So he was better than his numbers suggest. He beat the Preds in his only meeting against them last year, stopping 14 of 16 shots in a 7-2 laugher.

Saros was good early on in his season opener as the Lightning outshot the Predators 12-2 in the opening frame. Saros allowed 4 goals on 33 shots, but 2 came via the power play, and 1 was on a penalty shot. He was in 3 games against Seattle last year, going 1-1-0 with a 5.10 GAA and .836 SV%.

Kraken at Predators picks and predictions

Prediction

Predators 5, Kraken 3

Moneyline

We have a pick ’em here, and while I like Seattle’s squad a little better, I like Nashville to rise up on home ice. They looked sunk in the 1st period in their opener and turned the tables in the 2nd, outshooting Tampa 13-5. The Kraken appeared to have a little playoff hangover, and they’ll fall to 0-2 before heading to St. Louis to face the Blues in their home opener Saturday.

Take the PREDATORS -110.

Puck line/Against the spread

I’m willing to take a chance on Nashville here because of the potential payout. Nashville was 22-14-4 at home last year and looked good at times in their opener. They’ll need a complete game, but I’ll LEAN PREDATORS -1.5 (+220).

Over/Under

I love the Over here. These teams have met 6 times over the last 3 years, and 5 of them had at least 6 goals. Both goalies will be tested by a net-front presence, and their stamina may not be in check yet having just played 2 days ago.

Take the OVER 6 (-120).

Seattle Kraken at Vegas Golden Knights odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Seattle Kraken at Vegas Golden Knights odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Seattle Kraken and the Vegas Golden Knights open the 2023-24 National Hockey League regular season Tuesday at T-Mobile Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. ET (ESPN/ESPN+). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Kraken vs. Golden Knights odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Kraken took the Dallas Stars to Game 7 in the 2nd round of the playoffs, going 7-7 in the postseason in just the franchise’s 2nd season. Seattle looks to take another step this season. Seattle will need to top Vegas, a team it is just 1-7 against in 2 NHL seasons.

The Golden Knights will raise a banner on Tuesday night, and sometimes that can throw teams off. VGK ended the regular season sweeping a home-and-home set against Seattle, outscoring the Kraken 7-2 as the Under cashed in both games April 11-13.

The Kraken did top the Golden Knights 4-2 on Nov. 25 last season as moderate underdogs (+165) as the Under (6.5) cashed, the only time Seattle topped Vegas so far.

Kraken at Golden Knights projected goalies

Philipp Grubauer (17-14-4, 2.85 GAA, .895 SV% – 2022-23) vs. Adin Hill (16-7-1, 2.50 GAA, .915 SV%)

Seattle had a mediocre preseason finishing things off 3-2-1 overall following a 2-goal loss to Edmonton in their final preseason game. Grubauer struggled in the net for Seattle posting a .880 save percentage after giving up 3 goals on 25 shots in just under 56.5 minutes on the ice. The 31-year-old  netminder has never faced the Kraken.

The 27-year-old goalie was the first choice for the Golden Knights in the postseason, tallying an 11-4-0 record to go with a strong .932 save percentage. He’s 1-2 with a 3.08 GAA in 4 games against Vegas.

Kraken at Golden Knights picks and predictions

Prediction

Golden Knights 3, Kraken 2

Moneyline

The Golden Knights (-175) are the defending champs, and they’re 7-1 all-time against the Kraken (+145). However, there will be a lot of pressure as the banner is raised, pregame routines are going to be thrown off, and facing Seattle is a rather tall order, too. This is going to be a close shave, and it could go either way, honestly.

PASS.

Puck line/Against the spread

The KRAKEN +1.5 (-165) are a decent play on the puck line if you would like a little bit of insurance. It wouldn’t be shocking to see his game fail to end in regulation, and need overtime and/or a shootout to determine a winner. That’s a thing of beauty when that happens and you have the underdog on the puck line.

Over/Under

UNDER 6 (-120) is worth a look, as Grubauer and Hill should put on a decent show in Vegas.

The Under cashed in the final 3 regular-season meetings, with an average of 5.0 combined goals per game (GPG).

The Under was also 6-3-1 in the final 10 regular-season games overall for the Kraken, while going 6-3-1 in the final 10 regular-season road games, too. The Under was also 3-0 in the final 3 games for Vegas, while going 5-2 in the final 7 regular-season games.

Analyzing Monday’s Seattle Kraken at Dallas Stars Game 7 odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Seattle Kraken meet the Dallas Stars in Game 7 of their Western Conference semifinals playoff series Monday. The series is tied 3-3. Puck drop at American Airlines Arena is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Kraken vs. Stars odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Kraken dominated the Stars 6-3 Saturday in Game 6 to force a Game 7 in this thrilling series. RW Jordan Eberle scored twice as the Kraken forced Stars G Jake Oettinger to the bench. The series shifts back to Dallas where the Stars have won the last 2 after dropping Game 1 in overtime.

C Joe Pavelski scored his 8th goal of the postseason in Game 6 as the 38-year-old continues to lead the team offensively. LW Jason Robertson, who scored 46 goals in the regular season, has not scored in this series and has just 2 goals in 12 playoff games. That threat is always looming.

Kraken at Stars projected goalies

Philipp Grubauer (17-14-4, 2.85 GAA, .895 SV%, 0 SO – regular season) vs. Jake Oettinger (37-11-11, 2.37 GAA, .919 SV%, 5 SO – regular season)

Grubauer was just good enough in Game 6, stopping 20 of 23 shots. After standing on his head to eliminate Colorado, he has been more susceptible this round, allowing 3 goals or more in 5 of 6 games.

Oettinger was pulled 24:23 into Game 6, which marked the shortest start of his career. He stopped 14 of 18 shots as Seattle’s pressure was relentless. Otter has been great at home in the series, stopping 93 of 102 shots in 3 games. He’s also 21-1-3 this season following a loss.

Kraken at Stars picks and predictions

Prediction

Stars 4, Kraken 3

Moneyline

It was 365 days ago that Dallas lost in Game 7 to the Calgary Flames 3-2 in overtime. Oettinger made a franchise-record 64 saves in the loss. He and the team are likely aware of that and will feed off of that with a trip to the Western Conference Finals up for grabs.

That said, we’re not going to pay -210 when Seattle has a puncher’s chance. Head to the Win/Total section and take STARS TO WIN AND OVER 4.5 GOALS (-110).

Puck line/Against the spread

There isn’t enough of a bite of the apple to risk the puck line here. Game 7 is a different animal, and it should be close. So let’s look to the trend in the 2nd period. The teams have scored 21 goals in the 2nd frame over the last 5 games.

The books have not countered and left a door open. Take OVER 2 SECOND PERIOD GOALS (+110) with a decent chance at a push with plus-money upside.

Over/Under

The Over has cashed in 9 straight games between the teams, including the last 4 meetings in Dallas and all 6 games in this series. Sure, this could be a 2-1 thriller, but we haven’t seen anything close to that between the pipes in the series.

Take the OVER 6 (+100).

Dallas Stars at Seattle Kraken Game 6 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Dallas Stars at Seattle Kraken Game 6 odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Dallas Stars and Seattle Kraken tangle in Game 6 of their Western Conference semifinals playoff series Saturday. Puck drop at Climate Pledge Arena is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Stars vs. Kraken odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Dallas leads the series 3-2.

The Stars travel to hostile ground trying to eliminate the Kraken in Game 6. Dallas took Game 5 by a 5-2 score behind 2 goals from C Roope Hintz and another from C Joe Pavelski. The Stars scored 5 times on just 21 shots and have the 2nd-year Kraken on the ropes.

LW Jared McCann scored his 1st goal of the playoffs and became the 18th Kraken player to tickle the twine this postseason. Seattle got down 3-0 and scored 2 goals in the 2nd period to get within striking distance, but Dallas shut the door.

Stars at Kraken projected goalies

Jake Oettinger (37-11-11, 2.37 GAA, .919 SV%, 5 SO – regular season) vs. Philipp Grubauer (17-14-4, 2.85 GAA, .895 SV%, 0 SO – regular season)

Oettinger stopped 29 of 31 shots he faced in Game 4 and has the Stars in the driver’s seat. He has allowed at least 2 goals in every game this series. Oettinger has a 2.65 GAA and .907 SV% in the playoffs.

Grubauer has come undone in this series as he stopped just 16 of 20 shots in Game 4. He has allowed 4 goals or more in 4 of the 5 games vs. Dallas as his GAA has eroded to 3.06 with a .903 SV% these playoffs.

Stars at Kraken picks and predictions

Prediction

Stars 4, Kraken 2

Moneyline

Dallas (-165) is hoping to repeat what they did against Minnesota in going down 2-1 in the series and not losing another game — and I think they accomplish that. Grubauer was the star of the Avalanche series and kept the Kraken in it, but he has begun to cave in as Dallas dominates the pace.

PASS on moneyline pricetag though, and look to the spread.

Puck line/Against the spread

The last 4 games in the series have been decided by 2 goals or more, and every Dallas win has been as such. Dallas has scored 4 goals or more in 6 of 7 games, and that’s what it’s going to take to cash a puck line in Game 6.

Take the STARS -1.5 (+150).

Over/Under

The Over is 5-0-1 in the last 6 for Dallas and 5-0 in the last 5 for Seattle. The Over is 8-0 in the last 8 between the teams and 4-0 in the last 4 in Seattle. I just don’t see 7 goals with a Dallas victory.

Head to the Win/Total section, and take STARS AND OVER 4.5 GOALS (+100).

Seattle Kraken at Dallas Stars Game 5 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Seattle Kraken at Dallas Stars Game 5 odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Seattle Kraken meet the Dallas Stars in Game 5 of their Western Conference semifinals playoff series Thursday. Puck drop at American Airlines Arena is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. ET (TNT). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Kraken vs. Stars odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Season series: Tied 2-2

This has been a back-and-forth series with each team winning every other game. Seattle was overwhelmed in Game 4 by a 6-3 score to even the series. The 2nd period has been the determining factor. Over the last 3 games, the winning team tallied at least 3 goals in the 2nd period to take charge. Seattle welcomed LW Jared McCann back for the first time this series, and he had 3 shots on goal (SOG) Tuesday.

Dallas got out to a 3-0 lead in the 2nd period, and Seattle lost a challenge on the 3rd goal. That gave Dallas a power play, which C Joe Pavelski connected on to make it 4-0 midway through the game. C Max Domi had 2 goals and an assist. The Stars were 2-for-3 on the power play, and they held Seattle to just 19 shots on goal. G Jake Oettinger improved to 21-1-3 this year following a loss.

Kraken at Stars projected goalies

Philipp Grubauer (17-14-4, 2.85 GAA, .895 SV%, 0 SO – regular season) vs. Jake Oettinger (37-11-11, 2.37 GAA, .919 SV%, 5 SO – regular season)

Grubauer was pulled for the 1st time in Game 4, allowing 5 goals on 22 shots. He looked strong early in the game, stopping 10 of 11 in the 1st period, but LW Jamie Benn broke through on the power play in the last 3 minutes. Grubauer has a 2.97 GAA and .909 SV% in the playoffs.

Oettinger wasn’t great in Game 4, but he was just good enough. He stopped 16 of the 19 shots fired his way. He has allowed at least 2 goals in each game this series and 3 or more in 3 of the 4. Otter has a 2.71 GAA and .903 SV% these playoffs.

Kraken at Stars picks and predictions

Prediction

Kraken 4, Stars 3

Moneyline

This isn’t a series to take a -190 ML on either team and is more of a toss-up. The road team has won every other game in the series, and they’re 5-2 in the last 7 meetings.  McCann’s return should have a bigger impact in Game 5.

LEAN KRAKEN +155.

Puck line/Against the spread

The last 3 games have been decided by multiple goals, but these teams have needed overtime 3 times this year. I’d rather taken Seattle and the plus-money than the goal of insurance at -160 here.

However, let’s look at the 2nd period trend. In the last 3 games, we’ve had 15 goals between the sides in the 2nd. I’ll take OVER 2 SECOND PERIOD GOALS (+105) with a decent chance at a push with plus-money upside.

Over/Under

These teams have gone Over 7 games in a row, and the books have finally countered. It was fun while it lasted. Each game has had at least 6 goals and would be 3-0-1 against that number. But I’m not feeling the total here. Pavelski had at least 3 SOG in 3 of the 4 games this series and did so in both home games.

Take JOE PAVELSKI OVER 2.5 SHOTS (+120) for a nice payout.
