A former Clemson pledge made a verbal commitment to another ACC school on Sunday evening.

Bridgeland High School (Cypress, Texas) three-star tight end Reid Mikeska announced his commitment to Miami via social media, choosing the Hurricanes over Oklahoma.

Mikeska (6-6, 233) decommitted from Clemson on May 12 after originally committing to the Tigers on April 13.

Mikeska is ranked as the No. 29 tight end in the 2023 class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

Last season, he caught 24 passes for 229 yards and four touchdowns.

Clemson lands four-star cornerback commitment

Clemson just added a fourth commit to its 2023 recruiting class, and it’s a big get for the Tigers.

Clemson added its fourth commitment to its 2023 class on Friday after four-star cornerback Branden Strozier announced his pledge to the Tigers on Twitter.

According to 247Sports Composite, Strozier is the No. 39 cornerback in the nation. The 6-foot-2, 175-pounder attends St. Francis High School in Alpharetta, Georiga. Strozier chose Clemson over 17 other schools that offered him, including Alabama, Florida State, Florida, and Auburn.

Strozier is the fourth four-star recruit in the class of 2023 to commit to Clemson. Quarterback Christopher Vizzina, wide receiver Nathaniel Joseph and edge David Ojiegbe are the other three players. Three-star tight end Reid Mikeska was committed to Clemson but announced a change of heart on May 12 and reopened his recruitment.

Clemson lost two experienced corners in Andrew Booth Jr. and Mario Goodrich to the NFL this offseason, so Strozier’s commitment could help fill the void they left behind.

Highly-sought tight end recruit gets visit from Gators coach

Gators TE coach William Peagler drops by this recruit’s school on Tuesday.

Florida football’s recruiting efforts continue to roll along in the month of May as members of the coaching staff have hit the road to make visits to their most highly-sought prep prospects. Among those getting a visit this week is 3-star tight end [autotag]Reid Mikeska[/autotag] out of Cypress (Texas) Bridgeland, who has the pleasure of hosting tight ends coach [autotag]William Peagler[/autotag] at his school on Tuesday.

Previously committed to the Clemson Tigers, albeit only for a month, the 6-foot-5.5-inch, 233-pounder made an unofficial visit to the Oklahoma Sooners this past weekend and has a date set with Miami Hurricanes for an OV this coming weekend. The Gators get their chance to woo the Lone Star tight end on the weekend of June 17.

Mikeska has some encouraging things to say about Peagler, according to 247Sports.

“(Peagler) came out by their practice and I have been talking to him all the time. We kind of fell off a bit when I committed to Clemson, but he started talking again. We still have a good relationship. I was the first tight end he came to see when he was out on the road and he’s going to come see me again next week. It means a lot that he did that even though I was committed.”

While Florida remains a major player in his recruitment, Oklahoma currently holds the crystal ball for the coveted recruit, who currently ranks as the nation’s No. 486 overall prospect and No. 26 at his position in the 2023 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports Composite.

Oklahoma Sooners summer recruiting primer for the 2023 recruiting cycle

With the summer on the horizon, we took a look at the names to know as the Sooners look to make a push on the recruiting front for 2023.

Brent Venables and Co. are weeks removed from their first spring as a staff together. It was a successful one with no notable injuries and some standout performances across the board. All told, things went as well as they could’ve hoped considering the positive reviews from the media and recruits in attendance.

The spring game served as an eye-opener for recruits and gave the Oklahoma Sooners some significant momentum to ride as they head into the most crucial time of the year for recruiting. With spring ball done and the team going home to recharge before fall camp, the staff will be all in on recruiting. With that in mind, it’s time to map out the targets to watch as the 2023 class begins to materialize this summer.

This coveted tight end recruit sets his official visit to Florida

Florida is set to host three-star tight end Reid Mikeska on an official visit after he de-committed from the Clemson Tigers.

Three-star tight end [autotag]Reid Mikeska[/autotag] backed off his commitment to Clemson on Thursday night and wasted little time setting up an official visit to Florida. Swamp247 reported that he’ll take one to the Swamp from June 17 through the 19. Mikeska also said that he’ll unofficially visit Oklahoma before his trip to Florida and Miami after his official.

Head coach [autotag]Billy Napier[/autotag] and tight ends coach [autotag]William Peagler[/autotag] are aiming to sign one tight end this cycle after all the injuries the program suffered at the position this spring.

Peagler didn’t stop recruiting Mikeska while he was committed to the Tigers. He went out to Texas to see him during the spring evaluation period last week and plans to stop by next week. He said Florida’s decision to still recruit him while he gave his pledge to another school meant a lot to him.

Mikeska hails from Cypress, Texas, and is ranked as the 484th best player overall and the 26th best at his position, according to the 247Sports composite.

Tight end decommits from Clemson

2023 Texas tight end decommits from Clemson

After verbally committing back on April 13th, Reid Mikeska of the 2023 recruiting class has withdrawn his commitment to the Tigers.

It was only a month before the 247Sports three-star recruit changed his mind as the Bridgeland High School (Cypress, Texas) product announced his decommitment on Twitter Thursday.

“After many prayers and discussions with my family, I have decided to decommit from Clemson University,” he wrote in a Twitter post. “I am grateful to Coach Swinney, Coach Richardson, and the Clemson family for believing in me. I will be reopening my recruiting process and am excited for what god has planned.”

Mikeska has recently received an offer from former Clemson coach Brent Venables and Oklahoma which could be the reason for Mikeska’s decommitment. Swinney has a policy of not allowing commits to visit other schools, so Mikeska is likely doing so to give Oklahoma an opportunity.

We will continue to monitor the 2023 recruit’s situation.

One of the prospects in the 2023 recruiting class who was verbally committed to Clemson has withdrawn his pledge from the Tigers.

Bridgeland High School (Cypress, Texas) tight end Reid Mikeska announced his decommitment from Clemson via social media Thursday night.

“After many prayers and discussions with my family, I have decided to decommit from Clemson University,” he wrote in a Twitter post. “I am grateful to Coach (Dabo) Swinney, Coach (Kyle) Richardson, and the Clemson family for believing in me. I will be reopening my recruiting process and am excited for what god has planned.”

Mikeska had been committed to Clemson since April 13. ESPN and 247Sports consider him a three-star prospect, while Rivals rates him as a four-star.

He announced an offer from Oklahoma last week and is expected to visit the school this weekend. He also lists offers from schools such as Alabama, Auburn, Baylor, LSU, Miami, Michigan State, Texas Tech, South Carolina, Tennessee, North Carolina and Florida.

Four-star priority wide receiver lists Clemson in top five

Clemson just landed in the top five of a priority wide receiver recruit.

Clemson has been active in recruiting over the past few months, and another priority 2023 recruit named the Tigers as a finalist on Thursday.

According to On3Recruits, four-star wide receiver Noah Rogers listed the Tigers in his top five, with Florida State, Ohio State, North Carolina and NC State being the other four schools. The 6-foot-2 pass-catcher is the No. 10 receiver recruit in the country and the No. 1 recruit in North Carolina, according to 247Sports Composite.

Clemson offered Rogers on Jan. 12, and if he commits, the Tigers would add to their 2023 recruiting class, which has three four-star commits, including quarterback Christopher Vizzina and wide receiver Nathaniel Joseph.

Clemson’s 2023 class is ranked No. 19 in the country in ESPN’s most recent recruiting rankings, but there is still work to be done. Rogers would be a huge addition for the Tigers, who dealt with many injuries at the receiver position last season.

Clemson making strides in 2023 recruiting class

Check out where Clemson lands in the latest 2023 recruiting rankings.

In a sport that depends heavily on gaining highly-rated high school recruits, Clemson’s 2023 recruiting class has begun to take form over the past few months, adding four commitments and climbing up the rankings.

Here’s what Craig Haubert of ESPN had to say about the Tigers’ 2023 class, which ESPN ranks 19th in the country.

ESPN 300 commits: 3 | Previous ranking: unranked

ACC rank: 3 of 14

Top offensive commit: QB Christopher Vizzina (No. 79)

Top defensive commit: DE David Ojiegbe (No. 246)

Trevor Lawrence set a high bar, and replacing him is not easy, but the Tigers continue to add talented options under center. They signed the No. 2 overall quarterback in the 2022 cycle in Cade Klubnik and now landed ESPN 300 signal-caller Vizzina, a strong-armed, accurate and poised passer. Nathaniel Joseph has the tools to be a dangerous weapon, as the diminutive target is an explosive and shifty player who can win footraces and make defenders miss.

With Vizzina, Joseph, Ojiegbe and three-star tight end Reid Mikeska verbally committing, the Tigers hope to add more highly-touted recruits in the coming months. Some names to watch out for are four-star wide receiver Tyler Williams, four-star offensive tackle Monroe Freeling and four-star linebacker Tony Rojas, among others.

Florida checking in on these 3 Texas-based tight end targets

Florida sent tight ends coach William Peagler to Texas to check in on three tight ends targets this week.

Florida football quickly scrambled and put together a board of potential tight end prospects after a couple of its players suffered injuries during spring practice. The injuries left the Gators with only one healthy scholarship player in [autotag]Keon Zipperer[/autotag].

Head coach [autotag]Billy Napier[/autotag] and tight ends coach [autotag]William Peagler[/autotag] are targeting three from the state of Texas: three-star Clemson commit [autotag]Reid Mikeska[/autotag], four-star Stanford commit [autotag]Jaden Platt[/autotag] and three-star [autotag]Lafayette Kaiuway[/autotag]. Peagler flew out to Texas to visit the trio, according to Swamp247.

So far this cycle, Florida has only hosted Mikeska out of the three. The Gators got him to the Swamp on April 2 where he got to check out spring practices under Napier. However, he committed to the Tigers on April 13. Peagler stopped by Mikeska’s practice on Wednesday.

Peagler is set to visit Platt and Kaiuway on Thursday.

The Gators running backs coach [autotag]Jabbar Juluke[/autotag] extended an offer to Platt back toward the end of March. He has still been communicating with Peagler despite his commitment to the Cardinals. Platt hasn’t visited the Swamp but expressed his interest in doing so after he received the offer. He said his commitment to Stanford is solid but hasn’t shut down his recruitment yet.

Peagler will also visit Kaiuway in Arlington, Texas. Florida also extended an offer to him late in March. He hasn’t visited Florida, either but wants to see Peagler and Napier in Gainesville.
