Clemson picks up a 2023 WR commitment on Thanksgiving Day

Dabo Swinney and the Tigers pick up a 2023 WR commitment on Thanksgiving Day.

Dabo Swinney and the Tigers continue to build their strong 2023 class, with an in-state wide receiver announcing his commitment to Clemson.

Nearby Greenville (S.C.) High School wide receiver Tyler Brown announced his verbal commitment to Clemson Thursday, becoming the 23rd member of the Tigers 2023 class. Brown, a 3-star wide receiver according to 247Sports, is the third wide receiver added in this class as the Tigers look to bolster their wide receiver room.

After decommitting from Minnesota, Brown took a couple of visits to Death Valley before deciding that Clemson was the place for him. He will be a welcomed addition to the Tigers class that is stacking up to be one of the best in the country.

Tyler Brown is staying home!

Priority Sunshine State cornerback names Clemson as finalist

Clemson is in the mix for another highly-touted four-star defensive back prospect.

Clemson is still in the mix for one of the nation’s top defensive recruits in the class of 2023.

Four-star cornerback Damari Brown took to Twitter on Wednesday to announce his four finalists of Alabama, Clemson, Florida State and Miami.

The 6-foot-1, 180-pound Florida native is the No. 25 cornerback prospect in the class of 2023, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.

Brown last visited Clemson on June 3 after head coach Dabo Swinney offered him on Jan. 12.

Recruited by defensive backs coach Mike Reed, Brown could join a Clemson recruiting class that most outlets rank as a top 10 class in the nation.

“I love the environment at Clemson,” he told On3’s Hayes Fawcett. “Coach Reed, the DB coach, is a guy that has done it before by putting guys in the NFL. Clemson would be a good spot for me to go play and be a top corner.”

So far, Clemson has already landed five defensive back prospects in its 2023 class: Avieon Terrell, Brandon Strozier, Robert Billings, Misun Kelley and Shelton Lewis.

While Brown remains high on the Tigers, On3’s recruiting prediction machine gives Miami a 90.1 percent chance and Clemson a 4.4 percent chance to land him.

Clemson loses a key piece of their 2023 recruiting class

Four star offensive lineman Zechariah Owens decommits from Clemson

Dabo Swinney and the Clemson program lost a significant piece of their 2023 recruiting class as 4-star offensive lineman Zechariah Owens has decommited from the Tigers.

The Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy (McDonough, Ga.) is currently the No.18 ranked offensive tackle and the No.191 overall ranked player in the 2023 class according to 247Sports compositing rankings. For a team that is regularly looking to bolster their offensive line, losing the 6’6, 365-pound rising senior is a major blow for Swinney’s 2023 class.

Owens has not only decommitted from Clemson, and he will visit Florida State this weekend for the Tigers’ matchup with Florida State as a guest of the Seminoles. It looks like Florida State is the new favorite to land Owens.

Clemson football 2023 recruiting class tracker

Clemson football is on a recruiting tear. Check out the Tigers 2023 class so far.

Updated 8/9

We are in full swing with the 2023 recruiting cycle, with this past month being a busy one for Dabo Swinney and the Clemson football program.

There have been ups and downs during the process, but the Tigers have had a great start in the 23′ class. Though the team has dealt with decommitments from four-star wide receiver Nathanial Joseph and three-star tight end Reid Mikeska, Clemson still ranks among the top of 247Sports 2023 recruit team rankings.

According to the 247Sports rankings, Friday’s addition of five-star defensive lineman Peter Woods has pushed Clemson up to the No.3 ranked class in the country with eleven commits and 260.28 total points.

Swinney and the Tigers are one of the hottest teams on the recruiting trail right now after snagging Woods from his home state and power house program, Alabama.

Here is a look at the Tigers’ current 2023 class with their 247Sports composite ranking:

Clemson picks up commitment from four-star Georgia safety

Clemson adds another piece to their 2023 class.

Clemson football’s already impressive 2023 recruiting class just got even better.

Four-star safety and Milton High School (Alpharetta, GA.) product Rob Billings announced his commitment to Clemson Sunday via social media. He chose to play for Swinney and the Tigers over other top schools in Florida State, Michigan, Kentucky, Duke, and Ole Miss.

The Tigers’ ninth commitment from the state of Georgia in this class, Billings is a four-star recruit, the nation’s No. 23 safety, and the No. 26 overall prospect in the state of Georgia, according to Rivals.

Clemson has been on a roll, putting together one of the best 2023 classes so far.

Clemson lands massive five-star commitment from Peter Woods

Clemson just landed a game-wrecking defensive lineman prospect and the second five-star recruit in its 2023 class.

Clemson just added a huge piece to its 2023 recruiting class.

In a much-anticipated decision, five-star defensive lineman Peter Woods announced on Friday evening at Thompson High School (Alabaster, Ala.) that he is committing to Clemson, choosing the Tigers over Alabama, Florida and Jackson State.

Woods is the No. 3 defensive lineman and No. 23 overall recruit in the class of 2023 and is the second five-star to commit to Clemson, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.

The 6-foot-3, 270-pounder finished his junior season with 92 tackles (26 for loss), 11 sacks, two pass breakups and one forced fumble.

The Crimson Tide had long been the favorite to land the Alabama native, but since he took an official visit on June 3, the narrative began to play in Clemson’s favor. Hours before Woods’ decision, three 247Sports recruiting insiders crystal balled him to Clemson.

With Woods’ pledge to defensive line coach Nick Eason and the Tigers, Clemson now has a loaded defensive line group in its 2023 class. Along with Woods, the Tigers’ have verbal commitments from four-star defensive lineman Vic Burley, four-star defensive lineman Stephiylan Green, four-star edge David Ojiegbe and four-star defensive lineman AJ Hoffler.

Tigers offer 2023 recruit at a position of need

After missing out on a four-star recruit last week, Clemson’s staff has offered a prospect at a position of need.

Clemson seems to be addressing a position of need in its 2023 class.

After missing out on four-star running back Jeremiah Cobb, who committed to Auburn last week, the Tigers have offered three-star running back Christopher Johnson Jr. (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.). The 5-foot-11, 178-pound Johnson is the No. 30 tailback and the No. 413 overall recruit in the class of 2023, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.

Before offering Johnson, Clemson had four running back prospects on its radar. Although Cobb listed the Tigers as a finalist, 247Sports has crystal balled the initial three to other schools.

So far, Clemson has landed 16 commitments in its 2023 class, with none of them being running backs. In the Tigers’ 2022 recruiting class, C.J. Spiller landed one recruit in three-star Keith Adams Jr.

Last week, ClemsonWire said that running back was the biggest position of need for the Tigers’ 2023 class, so it doesn’t come as a surprise that the staff has been proactive after Cobb’s commitment.

Massive Clemson offensive line target sets commitment date

After two 247Sports insiders crystal balled him to Clemson, a four-star offensive lineman has set his commitment date.

One of Clemson’s offensive line targets has set his commitment date.

Four-star interior offensive lineman Harris Sewell announced on Twitter on Monday that he will commit on Wednesday at 1 p.m. EDT, choosing between Alabama, Clemson, Oklahoma, Texas and Texas A&M. According to 247Sports Composite, Sewell is the No. 2 interior offensive lineman in the nation and the No. 72 overall prospect.

Sewell has been crystal balled to Clemson by two 247Sports Clemson insiders and officially visited Clemson on June 3.

Playing for Permian High School in Odessa, Texas, the 6-foot-4, 290-pound Sewell was a 2-6A unanimous first-team all-district selection as a junior in 2021.

If Sewell does choose the Tigers, he would be Clemson’s second offensive line commit alongside four-star tackle Ian Reed. Sewell was one of four 2023 prospects that ClemsonWire had its radar on for potential commitments in the coming weeks.

Peach State defensive lineman recruit lists Clemson as a finalist

Despite already having four defensive lineman commits in its 2023 class, Clemson is in the mix for another Peach State defensive lineman prospect.

Clemson is in contention for another 2023 Peach State prospect.

Announcing the decision on his Instagram, four-star defensive lineman T.J. Searcy has narrowed his team list down to Clemson, Florida, South Carolina and Tennessee. 247Sports Composite ranks the 6-foot-5, 250-pound Searcy as the No. 20 defensive lineman in the nation and the No. 153 overall prospect.

Playing for Upson-Lee High School (Thomaston, Ga.), Searcy officially visited Clemson on June 3 and has since visited his other three finalists.

As of Monday, the Tigers have four defensive lineman commits in their 2023 class: four-star Vic Burley, four-star Stephiylan Green, four-star David Ojiegbe and four-star AJ Hoffler. Burley, Green and Hoffler are all from Georgia, meaning if Searcy commits to Clemson, the Tigers would have four defensive line commits from the neighboring state.

Clemson has also been listed as a finalist for four-star defensive lineman Keldric Faulk and five-star defensive lineman Peter Woods, who will commit on July 5 and July 8, respectively.

Four recruits to keep an eye on that Clemson could land in the coming weeks

With Clemson already boasting a top-five 2023 recruiting class, here are four potential prospects the Tigers could still land in the coming weeks.

Clemson has been one of the hottest teams in 2023 recruiting the last few weeks, but the Tigers may not be done making noise yet.

In the month of June, the Tigers secured 11 pledges from recruits, nine of which are four-star prospects, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. In the past week alone, the Tigers landed two four-star defensive linemen in AJ Hoffler and Stephiylan Green.

With Hoffler and Green’s announcements, Clemson’s 2023 class has 14 verbal commitments and is the No. 3 class in the nation, according to 247Sports’ rankings. Even with the recent bombardment of success, the Tigers have a chance to climb the rankings even more.

Clemson is still in the mix for many recruits, but here are four highly-rated prospects that the Tigers have a great chance of landing in the coming weeks.
