Clemson ranks top 15 in the Athletic’s recruiting potential rankings

While down from last year, Clemson’s recruiting potential remains one of the best.

The Clemson football program has developed into a powerhouse during the Dabo Swinney era, with the Tigers becoming one of the top recruiting schools in the country during that time.

While Clemson hasn’t had a top 5 class in some years, the Tigers always recruit in the top 15 and have hit on some big time recruits. Even if their classes aren’t ranked as high as previous years, the 2023 class is an excellent example of why those rankings don’t matter as much as some may think, with that class performing among the top in the country.

Recently, the Athletic released their annual article ranking teams by potential recruiting prowess ($$$), with Clemson dropping from No. 8 to No. 14.

Clemson had a bit of an identity crisis in 2023, but Dabo Swinney continues to compete with SEC schools on the recruiting trail. As long as he can convince recruits to ignore what his critics say about his thoughts around NIL and the transfer portal, Swinney should have a seat at the table with any player he wants. Despite the program’s recent struggles, this era of recruits still grew up watching Swinney and the Tigers dominate the sport.

What I find interesting about this is the lack of acknowledgement of Clemson’s 2025 class and how that’s building. It is currently a consensus top 5 class, with most having the Tigers top 3. Even if it’s early, the Tigers have some huge names remaining on their board and a crystal ball prediction to land the No. 2 overall player in the class.

This feels a little low for Swinney’s program, but the 2025 class should fix that.

Clemson makes the top 10 for four-star linebacker Jaedon Harmon

Clemson is in the top 10 for four-star Jaedon Harmon.

Dabo Swinney and the Clemson football program are on a tear recruiting in the 2025 class and have recently landed in the top 10 of one of the top linebacker recruits in the country.

Rome (Ga.) High School four-star Jaedon Harmon took to social media Wednesday to announce his top 10 schools, with Clemson making the cut. The Tigers look to continue to bolster their linebacker corps, an area of need where the program is lacking in depth. Clemson competes with Alabama, Florida State, LSU, Ohio State, Texas, Oklahoma, Auburn, Tennessee, and Ole Miss.

According to 247Sports composite rankings, Harmon is the No. 26 linebacker and the No. 194 overall player in the class. The Tigers have an excellent chance to land Harmon, with two crystal ball predictions to land at Clemson.

Clemson receives crystal ball prediction for four-star top 30 recruit in the country

Dabo Swinney and the Tigers have an excellent chance of landing this 2025 four-star safety.

Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers are among the hottest teams recruiting in the 2025 class and that trend continues with some excellent crystal ball predictions coming their way this week

The latest prediction came for four-star Monroe High School (Monroe, N.C.) safety Jordan Young, who received his second crystal ball prediction to the Tigers on Wednesday. The prediction came from 247Sports Notre Dame Insider Tom Loy, who is currently 26/26 on his predictions in this class.

According to 247Sports rankings, Young is the No. 2 safety and No. 29 overall player in the 2025 class. He is an excellent talent with two crystal ball predictions to land with Clemson. This program has more great recruiting opportunities, and they continue to prove that they remain among the elite in college football.

Clemson lands massive commitment from four-star defensive back Tae Harris

Clemson makes another huge splash recruiting in the 2025 class.

Dabo Swinney and the Clemson coaching staff continue their scorching hot run recruiting in the 2025 class.

Cedartown (Ga.) High School’s standout talent, four-star defensive back Tae Harris, has officially declared his commitment to the Tigers. Previously committed to Georgia, Harris boasts impressive rankings, with 247Sports positioning him as high as the No. 125 overall prospect in the 2025 class.

Standing at 6 feet tall and weighing 200 pounds, the rising senior made a pivotal visit to Clemson during its March 9 junior day. With his verbal commitment, Clemson’s 2025 class now boasts a total of 11 pledges.

Following his decommitment from the Bulldogs on Jan. 21, Clemson swiftly extended an offer just a day later, seizing the opportunity to secure Harris’s talents. This is a huge commitment for the Clemson program that continues to prove they can recruit at an elite level.

Changes coming to recruiting in college football that Dabo Swinney should love

This recruiting change should help teams like Clemson and many more.

The landscape of college football has changed drastically since Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney took over the program, with much of this change coming of late.

With the addition of NIL, the changes in the transfer portal, and more, college football now more than ever has felt like the wild west. Change after change, without as much thought into the process as you’d expect. Each change has different effects, and those effects vary from good to bad.

This upcoming change made to recruiting should be beneficial for most, and it is a change that Dabo Swinney should love. According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, the Collegiate Commissioners Association (CCA) voted Wednesday to move up the early signing period to early December. This is before the transfer window opens… a massive movement in recruiting.

Swinney has been adamant about changes needing to be made as these situations can drastically effect the players still in high school and this should solve exactly those issues.

Clemson lands in-state walk-on QB

Clemson added a preferred walk-on quarterback with the commitment of Greenville and J.L. Mann High School’s Ethan Anderson.

Clemson added another quarterback to its depth chart when it secured a pledge from Ethan Anderson of Greenville’s J.L. Mann High School on Thursday. Listed at 6’2″, 185 pounds, Anderson committed to coach Dabo Swinney’s program as a preferred walk-on for the class of 2024.

In his senior season at J.L. Mann High School, Anderson threw for 3,172 yards and 42 touchdowns. As a junior, he threw for 2,273 yards.

In his senior season, Anderson led the Patriots to an 11-3 record and a berth in the Class 5A playoffs. The Patriots lost, 31-30, in the semifinal round of the playoffs to eventual 5A state champion Dutch Fork. In that game, Anderson passed for 338 yards and three touchdowns.

According to Maxpreps.com, Anderson finished the 2023 season fourth in the state in passing yards and fifth in passing touchdowns.

Anderson will join a quarterback room featuring returning starter Cade Klubnik, backup Chris Vizzina, and fellow walk-ons Trent Pearman and Colby Shaw.

Clemson lands commitment from four-star DL Isaiah Campbell

Clemson landed four-star DL Isaiah Campbell to its 2025 recruiting class on Monday.

Clemson added a third four-star prospect in a span of 24 hours to its 2025 recruiting class when Isaiah Campbell, one of the nation’s top defensive lineman, announced his commitment Monday.

Listed at 6’5″, 265 pounds, Campbell (Southern High School, Durham, N.C.) chose Clemson over ACC rivals Florida State and North Carolina, and regional rivals Alabama and Auburn. Campbell was in Tiger Town over the weekend for Clemson’s Elite Junior day Event on Saturday.

He announced his commitment to Clemson in a post to Twitter/X early Monday morning.

247Sports’ Composite rankings rates Campbell as the 72nd best prospect in the nation, as well as the fifth best defensive lineman in the country. He’s also rated the fourth best prospect from the state of North Carolina. Both on3 Sports and Rivals.com rates Campbell as the third best prospect in North Carolina.

Clemson is on quite a run with its recruiting this month. The Tigers have now netted four 4-star recruits in the past week. Campbell joins OL Jaylan Beckley (Trinity Christian Academy, Texas) and OL Brayden Jacobs (Buford High School, Ga.), who committed on Sunday. Defensive end Ari Watford (Maury High School, Norfolk, Va.), who committed on Wednesday.

Clemson lands another four-star recruit in offensive lineman Jaylan Beckley

Clemson landed four-star OL recruit Jaylan Beckley Sunday.

Dabo Swinney and offensive line coach Matt Luke added their second OL recruit of the day Sunday when they secured a commitment from Jaylan Beckley, a 6’5″, 300-pound prospect out of Trinity Christian Academy in Addison, Texas.

Rivals.com rates Beckley a four-star prospect in the class of 2025 while on3 Sports has him as a three-star recruit. Clemson beat out LSU, Oklahoma, and in-state schools SMU, Baylor and Texas A&M for Beckley’s commitment. Purdue also extended an offer to Beckley earlier in the month.

According to Rivals, Beckley is the 30th best offensive tackle in the class of 2025, as well as the 56th best prospect from the state of Texas.

Beckley announced his recruitment to Clemson on Twitter/X Sunday.

Beckley added to what was already a good week by Swinney and his assistants. Earlier Sunday, four-star offensive tackle Brayden Jacobs committed to Clemson over South Carolina and others. Jacobs is the No. 14 offensive tackle and the No. 123 overall player in the 2025 class, according to 247Sports rankings. His father, Brandon Jacobs, spent eight years in the NFL and won two Super Bowl rings with New York Giants.

Both Beckley and Jacobs were recruited by Luke, the former Ole Miss head coach who joined Swinney’s staff in December.

Beckley is the third four-star recruit to commit to Clemson in the past week, joining defensive end Ari Watford (Norfolk, Va.).

Clemson football lands major commitment in four-star DE Ari Watford

Clemson scored a major recruiting victory Wednesday when four-star defensive end Ari Watford, one of the top edge rushers in the class of 2025, committed to the Tigers.

Clemson football scored a major recruiting victory Wednesday when four-star defensive end Ari Watford, one of the top edge rushers in the class of 2025, committed to the Tigers.

Watford (Maury High School, Norfolk, Va.) chose Clemson over Ohio State, Penn State, in-state rival South Carolina, and ACC rivals Virginia Tech and Syracuse.

Listed at 6’6, 220 pounds, Watford is rated the No. 30 overall prospect in the 247Sports composite recruiting rankings for the 2025 class.

He is also rated the top overall recruiting prospect in the state of Virginia, as well as the fourth-best edge rusher in the nation. Watford becomes the fourth prospect from Virginia in the class of 2025 to commit to Clemson.

Clemson had been wooing Watford for several months. He officially received an offer from the school back in June and attended the annual Dabo Swinney Football Camp over the summer.

The recruitment of Watford is a big haul for Swinney and especially new defensive ends coach Chris Rumph. Rumph replaced Lemanski Hall, who was let go as defensive ends coach at the end of last season.
