1 pending free agent the Eagles should target from each AFC team

With the legal tampering period and NFL league year fast approaching, we’re looking at 1 pending free agent the Eagles should target from each AFC team

The Eagles won’t be major players in the free-agent market, but it’s always fun to take a hypothetical look at one player from every team.

Philadelphia agreed to a deal with Brandon Graham on Friday but is expected to lose Javon Hargrave, Fletcher Cox, James Bradberry, and C.J. Gardner-Johnson — among others — to lucrative deals.

It was also announced that Darius Slay was granted permission to seek a trade, further clouding up a transition period for one of the NFL’s top defenses in 2022.

With the new league year fast approaching, here’s one pending free agent from each AFC team that the Birds should target.

Tank Bigsby reveals his pick to win Auburn’s starting quarterback job

Bigsby feels that the new staff will give this QB the opportunity to thrive.

Auburn running back [autotag]Tank Bigsby[/autotag] closed his college career after rushing for 2,903 yards and 25 touchdowns in three seasons on the Plains.

As he prepares for the NFL draft, he is sharing his thoughts about Auburn’s 2023 roster, including who he would choose as the starting quarterback.

During his time in Indianapolis for the NFL combine, Bigsby was asked about several players who will be stepping up to take on more important roles in 2023 and says that [autotag]T.J. Finley[/autotag] has what it takes to take over the role now that the right coaches are leading the program.

“He’s a very calm guy. You know, in situations, he never trips. All the adversity he’s been through, he keeps going. He keeps fighting. He’s looking for more. I can relate to guys like that. He’s great. He’s going to be great. He’ll be fine. He’s just going to get around the right guys, and I feel like he is now. The right coaches are in, and he’s going to do what he has to do.”

Finley will enter his third season at Auburn in 2023 with 1,258 passing yards, seven touchdowns, and five interceptions. Last season, he passed for 431 yards and a touchdown before being sidelined after the Penn State game due to a shoulder injury. Finley is competing this spring with [autotag]Robby Ashford[/autotag] and [autotag]Holden Geriner[/autotag] for the starting quarterback job.

Five Georgia players make NFL.com’s top 50 2023 draft prospects

The five Georgia players on Jeremiah’s top 50…

NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah recently updated his top 50 prospects for the 2023 NFL draft, which included five Georgia players.

In 2021, Georgia set a school record when it had nine players selected in the draft. The following year, the Bulldogs shattered that record, sending 15 players to the NFL, including five first-round picks from the defensive side of the ball.

It seems unlikely Georgia will reach 15 again in 2023, despite winning its second consecutive national title. However, there’s still plenty of elite talent and it’s certainly possible five Georgia players could go as first-rounders once again.

The five Georgia players on Jeremiah’s top 50:

Brandon Graham on deal with Eagles: I didn’t want to miss a championship with Jalen Hurts

Brandon Graham will pass up more money on the open market to return with the Philadelphia Eagles and Jalen Hurts is a huge reason why the veteran pass rusher can’t leave

Brandon Graham is returning to the Eagles, forgoing 2023 NFL free agency in order to eventually sign a one-year, $6 million deal when the new league year begins.

Graham told Tim McManus of ESPN that it wasn’t about the money, and rather another Super Bowl chase led by quarterback Jalen Hurts.

“I definitely don’t want to miss out on this championship that we’re about to make a run for,” Graham told ESPN. “I pretty much directed [my agent] Joel [Segal] just to get a deal done before free agency so I wouldn’t have to go through that part. I’m just so happy everything came to fruition.

“It wasn’t even about no money. It was more about wanting to be an Eagle as long as I could still play at a high level, and of course, I still have a sour taste in my mouth on how things ended this last year [with a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl].”

In March 2021 during a sitdown with Zach Berman of The Athletic, Graham talked about Hurts’s potential and what could be, which was a major reason for him bypassing NFL free agency then as well.

Graham is 11 games away from passing Harold Carmichael (180), Brian Dawkins (183), and David Akers (188) for the franchise record for games played.

2023 will be Graham’s 14th with Philadelphia, tying him with Chuck Bednarik for the most in franchise history

Brandon Graham’s contract with Eagles will pay him $6 million in 2023

The numbers won’t be official until this coming Wednesday but it appears that Brandon Graham is returning to the Eagles on a 1-year, $6M deal

Brandon Graham is coming back to the Eagles and in the end, it really wasn’t about the money as the veteran pass rusher bypassed more lucrative offers in free agency for a $6 million deal in Philadelphia.

Tim McManus broke the news that Graham would return to the Eagles in 2023 after having interest from the Browns among other teams.

Graham had a career-high 11 sacks in 2022 with 16 quarterback hits as a rotational pass rusher, finishing as a top-five highest-graded player at his position.
