WATCH: Highlights from Seahawks Week-4 win over Lions in Detroit

A highlight reel of some of the best plays between the Seattle Seahawks and Detroit Lions in Week 4 of the 2022 regular season.

The Seattle Seahawks are now 2-2 on the year after their impressive 48-45 road win over the Detroit Lions in Week 4.

Sunday turned out to be a high-scoring affair, with the Seahawks finishing with six touchdowns on the day. Offensively, quarterback Geno Smith ran one in for the team’s first rushing TD of the year, connected with tight ends Noah Fant and Will Dissly for two more scores, and running back Rashaad Penny logged two rushing touchdowns of his own.

On the defensive side of the ball, rookie cornerback Tariq Woolen continued to shine, intercepting Lions QB Jared Goff for his career-first NFL pick-six.

Seahawks QB Drew Lock picking up plays during heavy OTA installation

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Drew Lock has been competing with Geno Smith and Jacob Eason, picking up plays during OTA installation.

Everyone is interested in seeing how the Seattle Seahawks’ quarterback competition goes this summer, including No. 1 wide receiver Tyler Lockett. Lockett opened up to the media on Tuesday about what it’s like to work out with quarterbacks other than Russell Wilson, and so far he likes what he sees from Drew Lock.

“He can throw the ball, y’all were out here today, he makes great throws,” Lockett told reporters. “He just has that type of calmness about himself to where he knows what he can do, he’s making the throws regardless of where the DB is. He had a couple of really great deep ball throws last week before we had this break. I think he’s adjusting really well.”

Lock came to Seattle in the trade that sent Wilson to Denver but he wasn’t guaranteed an immediate starting position. He’ll have to compete with long-time backup Geno Smith and Jacob Eason to earn the coveted spot.

“Being able to come to a new team, learning the plays – it’s different when you’re a receiver learning the plays than when you’re a quarterback, when you’re a quarterback you’re running the plays,” Lockett explained. “So just to be here for what, almost two months, he’s done a really great job picking up the plays.

“We’ve been installing a lot of heavy stuff, he’s been able to pick it up, run with it, and I think he looks really good.”

5 passing plays for Chiefs’ offense to utilize in 2021

Here are some passing plays the #Chiefs should consider installing for the 2021 NFL season.

Football season is almost here, Chiefs Kingdom.

A lot of time has been spent this offseason pondering how the Chiefs’ new-look offensive line will impact the offense. Andy Reid has a few new players on offense to scheme around, which should make for some more unique plays added to his already expansive playbook.

There are a handful of plays I’d like to see the Chiefs bring to the offense in 2021. The team has run some of them or at least a variation of some in the past, but they can get the most out of these plays with the current iteration of the team.

Watch: Top-5 plays from Lions 2020 training camp

The Detroit Lions 2020 training camp is over and the team’s media department put together a video of the Top-5 plays from the past three weeks.

The Detroit Lions 2020 training camp is in the books and the team’s media department put together a video segment focusing on the Top-5 plays from the past three weeks.

Lions’ multimedia journalist Tori Petry has been hosting “Inside Training Camp” and each episode she has multiple guests, including the Detroit Lions senior writer Tim Twentyman.

In the final episode, Petry and Twentyman looked back at the top plays from camp breaking down what happened in each situation.

Without giving too much away, if you want further perspective on what was going on surrounding these plays, the No. 5 play happened on Day 5, the No. 4 play on Day 4, the No. 3 play at the scrimmage (Lions Wire was not present for observations that day), while the No. 2 play and No. 1 play both happened on Day 6.

Top 10 plays of the Tom Herman era

Difficult to narrow the list down, these plays are the reason UT is where they are now. Here are the top 10 plays of the Tom Herman era.

Since being hired in 2017, Tom Herman has had some program defining wins at Texas. During those games, there have been some amazing plays, helping the Longhorns secure victory.

Whether it was beating Oklahoma in 2018, winning the 2019 Sugar Bowl against Georgia, or beating Utah in this season’s Alamo Bowl, Texas has made their best plays in the biggest games.

It was difficult to narrow the list down to 10 but these plays are the reason Texas is where they are now. Game-winning kicks, clutch interceptions and even an offensive lineman scoring on a pass from Sam Ehlinger, the Longhorns have been a fun team for the past three seasons.

Here are the top 10 plays of the Tom Herman era:

Kevin Love loses it mid-game on Collin Sexton, sure seems done with Cleveland

Kevin Love showed up Collin Sexton, and seems like he’s fed up with the situation in Cleveland.

There have been rumors swirling for weeks that Kevin Love is on his way out of Cleveland, and he sure looked like someone who was ready to leave on Saturday night, when frustrations clearly ran over for Love.

At the end of the first half of the Cavaliers’ game against the Thunder, there were 14 seconds remaining on the shot clock and 22 seconds remaining on the game clock.

The Cavaliers had a decent reason to run the clock down a bit before getting their offense going, so as not to force up too quick a shot and give the Thunder more chance on the final possession of the half.

Cavaliers rookie Collin Sexton did more than run the clock down a bit, though. He just sort of stood near half court, dribbling and dribbling. Love, who was being guarded by the much-shorter-than-him Chris Paul, got completely fed up. He called for the ball in the post, was ignored by Sexton … so Love kept walking toward the young guard.

Love then demanded Sexton toss him the ball. Sexton gave it to him, and Love fired a furious two-handed pass to Cedi Osman, who couldn’t make much happen and hurled up a long 3 … and actually got bailed out by a foul call.

Still, watch Love:

This is tough. Sexton will argue that he was trying to run the clock down to get a final look. Still, his lack of awareness is rough here: Love has a much shorter player guarding him in the post. That has to be the look.

Sexton didn’t give it a look. Sexton made his mind up, until Love came out and showed him up. No matter who’s at fault, it seems that Love’s time in Cleveland is running short.

This will be the sixth consecutive …

This will be the sixth consecutive season with fewer post-ups than the last, and 2019-20 is on pace for the largest post-up drop-off in more than a decade. The reasons for the play’s excision are all tied together, a result of both rule and strategic changes that have encouraged the rise of Moreyball. (Another fun excerpt from that 2015 Lowe column: He wrote that the post-up death “evokes both wistfulness for the past and a fear that the NBA is heading toward a homogeneity in which every team drives for corner 3s, layups, and free throws. What happens if we all play Rocketball?” Welcome to the NBA in 2019!)

Shaquill Griffin waiting for brother Shaquem’s 1st NFL sack

Seattle Seahawks cornerback Shaquill Griffin is excited to watch his twin brother Shaquem get chances to prove himself in the NFL.

Seattle Seahawks linebacker Shaquem Griffin has seen an increase in playing time since Week 10. He was on the field for 33% of the team’s snaps in their 17-9 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles and recorded a tackle and two quarterback hits.

Griffin’s twin brother and fellow Seahawks defender, Shaquill, is thrilled to see him receive opportunities to prove himself in the NFL.

“It’s been crazy just to see him out there,” Shaquill told 710 ESPN Seattle on Tuesday. “It’s a feeling that we’ve been looking forward to for a long time and it’s awesome to see the organization give him a chance and let him do what does, and that’s just play fast. And then when he lines up on the same side as me, it’s a great feeling. I remember my mom texted me after the game, was just like it just gave her chills to see us on the same side again. It’s just awesome to see him actually make the plays that he’s been making.”

Shaquill believes Shaquem is on the cusp of notching the first sack of his NFL career and can’t wait to see the play in person.

“We still got some games left, it could possibly still happen,” Shaquill said. “I just know every time he makes a play, it makes me want to make a play, so that’s that little rivalry we’ve always had. It’s cool to have that little friendly competition on the field. It’s good to have that back.”

Shaquem will have another opportunity to make plays and perhaps get his first sack against the Minnesota Vikings this week during “Monday Night Football.”
